Posts 2 and 3 of this series have been about the economic exit from hard-core Communism in Russia and China, respectively, while post 1 is an introduction to what Americans, or at least foreign-policy makers ought to be worried, or just knowledgeable about with regard to these major nations. Here, we have a summary on the state of these economies and more speculation on the reason for the differences between that of Russia, China, and America.
Just look at this city - this is Wuhan, China, capital of Hubei (North Lake) province in China. As mentioned in post 1, China is growing tremendously - the changes in civil infrastructure will be a subject for a coming post (the series will also include something on manufacturing infrastructure along with the promised post on free-market Chinese health care). Well, yeah, we all know that. The fact that there are many cities the size (and with the skylines of) New York City) is still something new to most people, and pictures don't do it justice. Why Wuhan is shown above is just that it is NOT Shanghai, Peking, Chongching, Hong Kong/Canton, as they are well known "1st Tier"* cities. Anyhow, it's the capital of Hubei, and the capital cities in China must be the biggest ones - they have always been BIG, BIG into centralization, hence the whole Communism era there (hell even before that, they've loved their bureaucracy for 5,000 years.) The point here is that this is not the NYC of China.
Let's take a medium-sized state like North Carolina and compare it's capital, Raleigh and compare to Wuhan. Raleigh has 1/2 a million people to Wuhan's 10 million. Of course it would have a bigger skyline, lots of lights, and subways (the train ones vs. Raleigh's sandwich ones!) As discussed here and here among other posts with the "China" and "Immigration Stupidity" topic keys. Peak Stupidity understands the low population is a GOOD thing, and life is better when we are spread out. We have also mentioned how the Chinese have a long-term cultural thing of liking to live close together, but we don't. That notwithstanding, the Chinese have the money now to build out these huge cities. (In America, we do not even have the money here to keep our cities from falling apart - more on this... ) It's not that we should be envious, because most Americans do not want to live in those kind of places, but we should just be aware of how powerful the Chinese economy is. It also shows what the Chinese can make of our country if/once they buy up parts of it.
Because they manufacture for the world, the money for industrial and retail. products pours in to China. Now, Russia, in comparison is more just a bunch of resources, the timber, metals, oil/gas, etc. to be extracted, and their population is about 1/8 that of China. Is that necessarily a bad thing? No, as said 2 paragraphs above. I'll say right here that I don't have the 1st-hand knowledge of Russia, as opposed to of China, so there is not as much to say here. However, the Russians have not panned out to be (or never were) good small-businessmen like the Chinese. Both nations are made up of a fairly smart populace, but as the Russian were always the best in math, metallurgy, other high-level engineering research, 2"-thick books about life's struggles, etc, as opposed to applied technical knowledge and the "art of the deal". I would guess the Chinese are more hard-working than the Russians, but is that genetically inherent or just due to a 50% shorter duration under hard-core Communism? 70 years of "we pretend to work; they pretend to pay us" can ruin the work ethic for good, I suppose.
There's nowhere near the population, infrastructure, and towering modern skyline as a 3rd Tier city in China, but still it's not a dump and is probably a great place to live for a city dweller (you'd better like the cold though... brrrr!)
How about Americans in comparison? Before the welfare state, it was America with not necessarily the hardest workers, but the smartest-working people, which is what it takes. The organizational skills (not government bureaucracy, mind you, but independent or small-business thoughtful planning) of Americans may still be the best. The organizational skills I'm writing about came from the British, as almost all of our culture did from the forming of the nation. The British Empire did not come about from a disorganized bunch, and the strong belief in rule-of-law and fairness are a big part of what was passed on to the builders of America. Over the last 50 years with both the introduction of the socialist welfare state that has taking the hard-working traits out of a big chunk of American society AND the government-provided immigration explosion, who knows where we stand on this at the present day?
This brings to mind then, the one area in which both Russian and China have a big advantage over the United State now, and that is unity of the population. It didn't matter under Communism when everyone can be equally miserable, but now it's an important point that the Han Chinese (the regular non-minority) Chinese people are over 90% of the country. Yes, they all look the same, maybe even if you are a Chinaman, but there are differences. Still > 90% is culturally unified, kind of like, I dunno, America used to be 90% white people. In Russia, the Christian (culturally anyway, not necessarily religiously) white Russians are in the mid 80% of the population from my reading. They do have their Moslem contingent, as does China. Interestingly both of these lands have the Moslem people due to their own empire building. Not to get into the whole history, due to lack of knowledge and time, but the USSR had control of Moslem areas, and many of the people migrated to places at the heart of the current Russian. In China, it seems like most of the Moslems are in lands that were their own also, take Xinjiang, (please!), and I don't think they want to move into China proper more than just be left alone. Even so, the demographically unified basic population of these 2 nations is a big factor giving them an advantage in the future over, say, Brazil, or an America turning into, say, Brazil.
That is modern-day Detroit. Sure, I could show a skyline of the small 1 sq-mile of so of the nice downtown, but that's not much of Detroit. This city used to be called the "Paris of the West" and that was NO joke. Who's been running the place for the last 50 years? How is America going to manage to stay a part of the modern world with this diversity? The advantage goes to Russia and China, and this is a big one. Maybe the only way we'll come out ahead is to help convert them back to Communism, but we'd better get on it before we're already converted ourselves!
*The Chinese use this terminology, as they are big on rating things with numbers. We have the 1 to 5 star hotel ratings here too, but who really decides this stuff? In China, they are big on this. A 4-star or even 3-star hotel can be pretty nice, BTW, and then the 5-star ones, besides being seriously pricey, as in the US, also have people who will speak English to you - it doesn't mean they will really understand until you go over it a couple of times, possibly using drawings, though. ;-}

Anarcho-Tyranny, British Style

Upon reading this Zerohedge article, UK Public Schools Forcing Girls As Young As Four To Wear Muslim Veil for the Immigration Stupidity, Peak Stupidity has come across a good example of ATATP, or Anarcho-Tyranny Across The Pond. It's not like examples aren't all around, but I just noticed that what may have been thought of as hypocrisy before is a good example of anarcho-tyranny. Britain is pretty far gone with this, as they are compared to America in most major sectors of stupidity. Not to worry, though, as we colonials will give our all to catch up, as is usually the case.
The large Moslem influx and influence in UK society has been thoroughly documented on VDare.com as something to NOT emulate, and this story is about kids as young as 4 years old being made to wear the Moslem "tent-wear".
Activists associated with the investigation cited by The Sunday Times called the uniform requirements “illiberal and repressive” and stated, “no child should be obliged to wear the hijab or any other article of religious clothing while at school.” Included among those appealing to the UK education secretary to root out such practices, especially when they appear at state funded schools, are Muslim women activists.Note first that you don't hear too much about feminist* activists, who one would think would have a problem with this, nor anti-immigration activists. It's only the Moslems who are ALLOWED to be activists without getting in trouble with THE STATE. We have to import our activists, apparently, to fight some of these problems associated with all this immigration. OK, then.
That is the 1st example of anarcho-tyranny here, as ony special groups are allowed to protest against the system, but not the average regular Brit, who will be seen as a "hater" and screwed accordingly by government, while the Moslem immigrant activist wouldn't even if he wasn't even legally in Britain.
Of course, it's mostly a good thing when the state leaves private religious schools alone to do or require whatever they want in terms of dress code, but that state funded UK schools would enforce Muslim veils is the deepest hypocrisy in a country which has recently been known to target and punish families wanting to opt out of LGBT related curriculum. The British authorities have even threatened Orthodox Jewish schools with closure with the ultimatum: "teach your children about homosexuality and gender reassignment, or we will close you down."See, it is seen by the writer, Mr. "Tyler Durden" as hypocrisy, as Mr. Durden has not become aware of the idea of anarcho-tyranny, as far as I've read.
In a trend that began years ago, the British education secretary began warning even Christian private schools that their teaching curriculum must reflect the "UK values" and laws concerning transgender recognition. The government now routinely cites "combating extremist" as a motive for getting private schools to conform.It's easy to beat the regular UK population into submission [Hey, wait, isn't that what "Islam" means, submission? Ed.]. They have jobs they may want to keep. and kids who could get in big trouble, and they still care about fairness and the rule-of-law and all that. The newcomer Moslems, however, aren't gonna take a lot of grief from the British Government Infidels, so that government doesn't want to mess with them. Besides, it is helping to replace the upstart middle-class, or what's left of it and completely culturally destroy the place, which is kind of the point for the elites in said government.
Again, don't think we won't catch up here in this area of stupidity.
*About the feminists, they may have been on the anarcho end of the anarcho-tyranny of yesteryear, but they've been slid over to the other side relative to Moslems. "Relational-Anarcho-Tyranny" - sounds like a good graduate-level course that should be required for matriculation from the College of Stupidity Studies.

The NFL brewhaha - an Equal-Stupidity Operation

After having avoided reading about it (besides headlines), for weeks, I read this Steve Sailer article in Takimag, which is a great summary of the entire NFL "industry" and a good read. Since I've gone that far, let me give my take on the entire NFL/Star-Spangled Banner/BLM/Trump-tweet fiasco after trying to avoid every damn thing about it for the last few weeks (but I always enjoy the Sailer Takimag articles). In summary, everyone involved is wrong and everyone involved acted stupidly.
The first guy, Capernick or whatever, had some guts to act on his political feelings, but his political feelings were stupid, as BLM claims are almost all wrong.
As a libertarian, I think it admirable to decline to act as part of a warfare state and to sit during the anthem, but for a good cause. These players have no good cause besides just showing black solidarity and wanting attention.
The one player with guts who did come out and stand hand-over-heart was pretty damn stupid to apologize the next day. Either don’t do it or stand by your position – what’s wrong with the guy?
The coaches are wrong to take the side of their players over the fans. Where do they think the money comes from to support their huge salaries and all the perks for everyone involved? Stupid, stupid, and more stupid.
The fans are wrong to make this big a deal about the national anthem. I understand it at a baseball game, as that is the national pastime, but WTF does Francis Scott Key and the rockets’ red glare have to do with watching a bunch of thugs run around under the supervision of military-wannabees with headsets? How many of these fans would be so militaristic if they had ever had a rockets’ red glare aimed at their ass, or seen men’s guts torn out, and legs held on by tendons only, or seen people get burned to death, especially if it’s all to “spread democracy” around the Middle East.
President Trump was wrong to tweet anything at all while the BORDERS ARE STILL OPEN! He should find something constructive to do and stay out of stupid controversies about non-constructive pro sports.
Bottom line – nobody at all was in the right here, and this whole thing is a big ball of stupid and has increased American stupidity levels by a significant percentage in a few weeks, a feat heretofore considered impossible. Peak Stupidity might be achievable by year’s end with one good Hail Mary.

We're kinda timely here on Peak Stupidity this AM - just got caught up on the rest of the internet over a hearty Peak Stupidity Count Chocula, bacon, and gold-fish cracker breakfast. Though just one US Senate election, these things often have wider implications. James Kirkpatrick, one of the solid VDare writers analyses this election win, maybe not a win for President Trump, DEFINITELY NOT a win for the Red-wing establishment, but a win for the people. One may comment on this article here on unz.com.
A few comment here that may be disjointed compared to our usual hopefully fluidic writing style, but out of time:

2) This election result is a good thing, and not just because Roy Moore has got a lot going for him as a rebel. It shows that the establishment CAN be beat, at least at this level. This may be part of a new movement to steer things in America onto a decent path by continuing the Trump movement without Trump, if he's not gonna lead. It’s just best not to let this effort get changed into an official movement with names, T-shirts and treasurers and secretaries. All that would come out of that would be that the movement would be soon co-opted by a) those with no principles who put their career hopes into the new organization, and just want a political job and the money. b) those who actively infiltrate the organization in order to force it back into the establishment fold.
That lesson should have been learned from the Reform Party of ’92-’96 and the Tea Party of ’08= ’12. RIP to both of them.

3) Per one of the comments on unz under this Kirkpatrick article, it is possible that this new Senator will get "inducted", so to speak, into the establishment by the Deep State early on. so what's the point? I say he is the last guy this would happen to.
This guy has not just been called “a cowboy”, like it’s a bad thing. He HAS BEEN a cowboy. About the 10 Commandments issue of many years back, whether one’s interpretation is that his court was in violation of US Constitution Amend I or not is one thing (my conclusion – NOT), but it’s the way he stood up for his beliefs to the point of resigning or getting canned from some of his positions in government that should be admired.
Keep in mind, Ronald Reagan was “slurred” as a cowboy way back in the day, when only Euroweenies and Ameriweenies saw it as a slur. He/we heard this so many times when President Reagan up and used non-nuanced terminology about the Communist Soviet Union. I remember all this. . He was a man of principle too, though many think the Deep State got a hold of him pretty early on, as that .22 shot may have been a warning to him (it was no easy thing, his surviving that. The medical technology in 1981 was nothing like today’s).

Anyway, I can’t say Moore is exactly my kind of guy politically, but he may be one of the hardest guys for the Deep State to bring into the fold.
Back to point 1, am I getting this right? The President campaigned for the more establishment candidate (i.e. neither a friend to Alabamans nor Americans), all other parts of the political establishment were against Roy Moore including his party leader, and Roy Moore campaigned on a policy of being AGAINST his own party and WON! This is crazy, this is crazy, this is crazy ...

Frau Merkel - Bizarro-Hitler in Bizarro-Germany

As mentioned in our last post, what's going on in Germany with Angela Merkel and her invitation to an invasion of the refugee-refuse of the world to western Europe is going to be bad for everyone.
Let me first just explain the term Bizarro-_____, as unless you are a comic-book fan (and Peak Stupidity is not familiar either), you wouldn't know it. It is from Superman(?) or one of these superhero stories in which Bizarro World is a place where everything is opposite of Earth. To Peak Stupidity, it can be an apt description of some of the stupidity seen, and it's amusing as the term was brought up in Seinfeld episodes, especially one in which Elaine ends up with 3 "Bizarro" friends who are the opposite of Jerry, George, and Newman. A neat thing I read about the show is that there is supposed to be a reference to superheros in EVERY episode of that show! It is something I have not been able to disprove so far - there is usually some "banter" about rubberman or something. OK, that's more than what we need for background here.
When compared to Nazi-era Germany, the current country seems like Bizarro-Germany, and the idiot leader Merkel seems like a Bizarro-Hitler, and that's the theme here. There will be lots of turmoil in Germany and Western Europe coming due to the leaders, policies and people just like there were 80-odd years back, yet things are turned around so much that you wonder how this bizarro world can end up the same way, as it's opposite did.
A little bit about the guy on the left. History has not been kind to this man. It's mostly because he was on the losing side the biggest war ever fought, but there's a bit more than that. The cntrl-left, Lyin Press, and just about every other non-thinking individual has this guy pegged as evil itself. They are right about one thing - this guy is LITERALLY HITLER - there's no arguing against that. There's no room here to get into a whole discussion about the history of Adolf Hitler, but we'll summarize a few things for later comparison to the current-era German strong-
Adolf Hitler was a man who came to power in terrible economic times for his country. One doesn't hear very much about all the background of 1920's Germany and the fact that the Communists, supported by the Soviets by then already entrenched in Russia, were all about making Germany into another Commie "workingman's paradise". The Nazi's formed, with many ex-officers of the WWI-defeated German army, partly to save the country from this threat. At this time, due to a terrible deal from the treaty of Versailles (ending WWI), Germany was in a world of hurt economically. The deal did not give the country enough room to recover economically, and hyperinflation occurred to the point of wiping out most savers (those holding paper/account assets in German Marks). The social situation was getting pretty weird too, as I've read.
This guy came along to do right for his land and countrymen. Now, good intentions do NOT make a person "good", and there is history of tyrants everywhere, especially in the 20th century to prove that. Here was a man who ended up with pretty much absolute power, and that is something that YOU! DO! NOT! LET! HAPPEN! without terrible consequences likely. They WERE likely by mid-1930's German when the Nazis had taken over. Now, there is too much speculation and conjecture about how Hitler could have avoided most of Germany's fate by not invading here, or making a treaty, or not honoring this other treaty, much of it very interesting and possibly true, to cover. This is not the (Original!)
Now, a little bit about the broad on the right. Just last week, this article on Takimag gave a pretty good, long summary of where Angela Merkel came from. It is not pretty at all. I had not known before reading this long article by a German or some Germans going by the handle of "Autorenkollektiv*" that Merkel was not just a Commie via her birthplace (East German) and upbringing there-at. No, she was one of the apparatchiks, a cog in an important place in the Commie party machinery of East Germany. The article is too comprehensive for Peak Stupidity to even excerpt one part - please read the whole thing!
(*Keep in mind that, in fitting with the conclusions to come, these people can't even write what they think in former WEST Germany, hence the anonymity.)
A few more points from the article: Frau Merkel was a physicist and used her high position to get approved to make trips to the West. That gave her a chance to learn about politics in W. Germany which she found a way to muscle in on later. Her position and relations with the West allowed her to get in on the Global Climate DisruptionTM scam right on the ground floor in 1994, way back. She is heavily invested politically in this hysteria and control-scheme. This explains her deep animosity to President Trump and his remarks on the stupidity of the proposed Paris Accords to limit "emissions" of the natural portion of the air known as CO2. The Takimag article also relates how this control freak deigns to tell subjects of the world's governments what to eat, how to travel, and that a "global expert council" is needed to get all these ideas implemented.
Back toward near the present day, Frau Merkel started the supposed-refugee invasion that is in the middle of a process of destroying Europe via demographic change, importation of terrorism, and overwhelming of the socialist welfare system of Europe. The borders of these countries are open, per EU agreement, so Germany's problem becomes Europe's problem, except for in the smart countries like Hungary and the Czech Republic, where they build fences (what a splendid idea!) Was this policy one of stupidity or evil?
After all that background, let's get to the comparison of German eras here.
* In 1930's Germany, there was a strong leader who was a Nationalist, wanted more land for his people, military strength to allow that, an end to the economic hardships for his people, and lastly, the most questionable one, to have his country become pure in ethnic composition.
* In 2010's Germany, there is a party-apparatchik leader with luke-warm support who is a Globalist and wants to ruin the economy while AT THE SAME TIME destroying what's left of the original ethnic composition and AT THE SAME TIME increasing population density with no new land all via the same process. Also, via "Green" and other SJW policies, she will let the military strength wane.
* In 1930's Germany, the people were nationalist, though cautious and later regretful at letting it get too far, especially militarily. They cared about their own people, didn't want foreign influence (the Commies), and wanted to get back on their feet economically as a hard-working people.
* In 2010's Germany, the people have been taught since the end of 1930's Germany that they should feel guilty about all the crimes humanity could ever commit. They are too shamed to even state that a foreign invasion may be bad, mmmkay. They are also ashamed to care more for other Germans than for anyone else, no matter how culturally inferior from anywhere on this globe.
* In 1930's Germany, the press was eventually made to print/broadcast the propaganda of The Nazi State only. Speaking out against the Nazis and against the wars of invasions of most other lands of Europe would get one in serious trouble.
* In 2010's Germany, the press has voluntarily supported The Globalist State, and speaking out against the invasion of Germany will get one in trouble (hence the alias used by the writers of the Takimag article).
It is truly Bizarro Germany with a Bizarro-Hitler at the helm. Yet, it seems that the results may be similar in terms of violence and turmoil. The people have been ignored and now silenced for so long, that when they have had enough, the solution will not be political. Who knows if there are some inner German traits that have survived as non-opposite in this current Bizarro-era. Will they get organized and become a new non-Bizarro Wehrmacht, or War Making Machine?
The Nazis gained power because the German nation was pushed into a corner by the victors of WWI and the Commies. It's a bad idea to corner people, or even an animal as small as a squirrel. Now, in good-old Bizarro fashion, it's a cornering of the German people being done by the leaders of the German nation, along with others. Yet, the result may be again a really bad thing.

I'll give our American political system one thing over the Europeans (along with lots of others, were a certain simple document to be still followed) - we at least pretend to make big changes in government during the elections. In Euro-land, the one group gets more votes, the others a few less, and coalitions are formed between groups that don't have much in common policy-wise, besides the usual Globalism.

Before a last dig at the Deutsch Reich-Chancellor, I should mention that I used the phrase "pretend to make" earlier in reference to the current American political system. The people are allowed to feel that they can greatly influence the political process, when, if fact, things always inexorably head in the same direction. This seems to be staying true even when a non-establishment fairly-honest guy has been elected president, so ...
Now, back to Germany, I'm not going to say that history is repeating itself here, or even rhyming. The faces are just as evil, but the policies are as opposite as can be - it's not rhyming, but in music it'd be called counterpoint. The sense of the 1/2 of common people is not only being ignored but actively suppressed, and the rest of them will follow the stupidest man (woman) standing. Johnny Cougar, back at his good old American Melloncamp in Seymour, Indiana sung "You better stand for something, or you're gonna' fall for anything!"
Just like 80-years ago, it's not gonna be good for anybody. Tomorrow we will post more on this Bizarro-Hitler.

1989-1990 in music history - "Right Here, Right Now"

The song for tonight's post is from 1990. That year and a year earlier were an amazing time politically. While writing parts 2 and 3 of "Russians and Chinese and Bears, oh my! (and Pandas) the time of the end of the Cold War came to mind. As written in the 1st post of the series, Americans saw the Cold War as mostly with the enemy Russia vs. China at least after Viet Nam. The end of the Soviet Union that came in 1989 was not forseen by Americans even 3 years earlier, in 1986, as I remember the feeling of things during the Chernobyl reactor accident - it was basically glee - whatever was bad for the Ruskies (should have been "Soviets") was a good thing.
Just three years later, at that same time as the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and 5 months before the beginning of the destruction of the Berlin Wall, there was the Tiananmen Square demonstration in Peking, China - really about a month long rally that built up - for democracy. It got crushed by Chinese Red Army tanks and guns, with much political/social retaliation later on, At that time, however, between the Russians and the whole East Bloc that had been our nuclear enemies for 4 full decades and (looking like) the Chinese joining the Free* World, it was really a heady optimistic time politically for Americans.
This song by Jesus Jones, one hit wonder, is called "Right Here, Right Now" and reminds me very much of that time and is related to the series of posts on Russia and China with our very brief history. From Wikipedia:

Mike Edwards has since noted some of the lyrics were influenced by the band's experiences playing in Romania in February 1990 right after the overthrow of Ceauşescu.It's from their album "Doubt". Alas, Peak Stupidity gives apologies on behalf of the stupid-ass band or whoever has rights for NOT leaving the original video (with end-of-Cold-War scenes) on youtube. This is audio only - I miss the video as 1990 was from the days when bands still put lots of effort into original videos.
Wow, things have sure changed a lot from Right There, Right Then.

This post is on the Chinese, about which Peak Stupidity has more first-hand knowledge (which will come into play in upcoming posts on Chinese health care (2 thumbs up!) and Chinese manufacturing/DIY/entrepreneurial infrastructure (3 thumbs up!).
There is no getting around the brutality of the Chinese version of Communism. Starvation of 30-40 million people was involved - this was "by mistake", not on purpose per the Soviet starvation of Ukrainians, but does that make it any better? NEVER GIVE LARGE AMOUNTS OF POWER TO ANY INDIVIDUAL, I shouldn't have to keep writing this, but Chairman Mao caused the starvation of his countryman due to his stupid ideas and his absolute power to implement them with no argument or veto power from anyone. So, what if he had good intentions, you know what is said about good intentions and the Long March straight to Hell for that guy. Besides that, there was poverty and misery for the whole land right up until a few years after this tyrant died in 1976. That meant 3 decades of the hard-core Communist stupidity from the time Mao and his gang defeated the Chinese Nationalists in late 1947 who high-tailed it to Formosa (they're calling it Taiwan now, but fuck 'em).
Mao's successor, after a big power struggle, was Deng Xiaoping. The new guy, though still professing to be all Communist-like, understood that free markets were the only way to have a good economy, and he started relaxing the grip on people's business at the end of the 1970's in the SE, around Canton (OK, Guang-freakin'-Zhou, happy?) and Shenzhen. Mr. Deng's catchphrase to describe his method of officially being Communist, but not really, was "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics", meaning, "Economic Capitalism at the local level, but we're still gonna' be corrupt enough to confiscate a bunch of your shit". (This latter catchphrase did not "catch" on, due to lack of a good acronym, and how in the hell do you even make an acronym in Chinese when you DON'T! HAVE! ANY! LETTERS!). Mr. Deng was not hard-core at heart as he had said way before he was in power - "It doesn't matter whether a cat is black or white, if it catches mice it is a good cat". During the worst days under Communism, and even on some good days when you just want some variety, this got misinterpreted as "It doesn't matter whether a cat is black or white, all you need is a little vinegar, soy sauce and hot peppers."
The 3 decades of hard-core Communism which included the bloody "let a thousand flowers bloom" program (with it's sequel, the "Let's mow down the dandelions" program) and subsequent Cultural Revolution 1.0 only 5 years later was followed by an easing up from 1978 or so through the present day. There were setbacks, such as the Tiananmen Square liberty demonstration - note right around the time the Berlin Wall came down - with it's accompanying blowback, one might call it. However, the Chinese did not "enjoy" quite the soul-destroying more than 3-generation version that the Russian people did. Is that why the Chinese have come out of Communism better, just the duration? Let's speculate.
The thing about the Chinese people is that they seem to have a natural knack and love for doing business. They are culturally and maybe even genetically free-market oriented with the exception of not having any history/culture of belief in rule-of-law, so often ready to screw over anyone not in the family during said business deals, which they love. This is so ingrained that it must be the case that it's not a new thing, based on exhortations by Mr. Deng - they've been llike this a long time, and it was suppressed greatly during the time of hard-core Communism in China. As soon as the people were let free to a great degree economically, originally just at the small-scale business level, their natural instincts came back out, producing a very efficient free-market.
Now, I can't write a summary of the 5,000 year history of this Middle Kingdom in one post, but I'd like to mention religion in here too though. Before the Communists, and the other terrible periods the people had endured since about 100 years back, since the last emporer (the warlord period, then the Japanese invasion ended only 2-3 years before Mao took power) the people were Buddhist/Daoist and whatever, and history shows that they took it seriously. It seems that the period of Communism there, as it repressed all religion, maybe even more so than it did in Russia, had a more lasting effect.
There is no serious religion in China now, aside from the small (relative to 1,400,000,000 people) Christian sector, with more on that shortly. You will hear of the Grave-sweeping festival in summer, and that's a Buddhist thing. The idea is to visit the graves of close relatives, clean up a bit, and burn money to help them out on the other side. How the money helps, I'm not sure, but the point here is that nobody burns any real money. That's what I'm getting at. If they took this seriously religiously they would burn real money to show they mean it. I asked someone about this, and she said "well, we have to BUY that fake money". OK! Tomb-sweeping day is all about eating good dumplings, and that's fine, because good eating is a good reason for anything in China.
The lack of any religion in the modern Chinese culture, usually, and in this case, manifests itself in a lack of true morals, as evidenced in business and schooling oftentimes. That's not to put Western people on a pedestal; it's just that there is a difference in general, and it's related to religious belief. Now, regarding Christianity to, for the Chinese, there are many, in the US too, that are nominally Christian. It is hard to for me to know how many take this seriously, as the materialism always wants to win out. Even at the Church, as far as the matter of the collection plate and other money matters, it's very hard for them to leave the materialism behind, even for a while. This lack of religion has not seemed to impede the Chinese from thriving, but it's not known to Peak Stupidity first-hand how seriously religious the modern Ruskies are, to continue this comparison.
Everyone knows that, in general, the Chinese people are a smart people, though questions of creativity vs. rote-learning arise (with a post coming on that). However, the Russians are not stupid either. Is it the type of things the smart people are interested in? Sure the Chinese want to meet people who can help them (guanxi), get out, and innovate in business, while the Russians may want to sit at a desk for 2 years cranking out "War and Peace "(having been changed from it's original title "War, What is it Good For?"). Is it just that the Russian people direct their intelligence in the wrong direction? It also could be more about the system that they live under, still much different than China, even with both having been released from the death grip of Communism. The most probably reasons for the difference between the way the Russians and the Chinese have fared are the > 2X longer duration under Communism for the Russians and just that the Chinese people work their asses off - sometimes it just comes down to that.

(pronounced Mix)" Bressack demanding that her students only refer to her using gender neutral terms like 'Mx.' instead of 'Ms.' and "they, them, their" instead of "he, his, she, hers." Per the Tallahassee Democrat:
"One thing that you should know about me is that I use gender neutral terms. My prefix is Mx. (pronounced Mix). Additionally, my pronouns are "they, them, their" instead of "he, his, she, hers". I know it takes some practice for it to feel natural, but my experience students catch on pretty quickly. We're not going for perfection, just making an effort! My priority is for all of my students to be comfortable in my classroom and have a space where they can be themselves while learning."
Just to expound on ZH's point, as we want to hold our own here in the "stupidity space", we will add a bit. Though exceedingly stupid and PC, and yeah, just stupid, it's one thing for this pronoun silliness to be brought up at the University by the Cultural Revolution II folks. At least the students are allegedly not kids anymore and can think for themselves (hahah, OK, something like that). They also have a chance to let off steam and party for 4 years on the, most likely, taxpayers'
You do have some options at the University if you are one of those odd, sane individuals who is sick of all this. Let's see, yeah you can fail out, if you speak up a lot. You can just make decision to bug out to a real college where they, like, study and all.
As for the little ones, it's a different story. Most of these kids HAVE TO* be there, by law. They really start off having a lot of trust in the kindergarten teacher and the rest of them in elementary school. By introducing this PC pronouns business, it's not just the confusion that it will cause later, when the little on grows up enough to understand. It's the trust that kids have in this teacher that she (unfortunately 95 % are she) is even trying set an example of a sane person - the kid may see here 7 hours per weekday!
Hell, here at Peak Stupidity, not only do we not use "Mx.", but we haven't even used "Ms.", the bullshit name-prefix introduced by the feminists back in the 1970's - I wonder how many readers even know that. I stick with "Miss" unless I know for sure a woman is married, in which case it's "Mrs." There are other words we can use in case a woman doesn't like the traditional terms.
* With the exception of home schooling which is recommended and greatly admired by the Peak Stupidity staff. (Yes, there's private school, but you'd be surprised at the PC nonsense there too, especially the Catholic schools - more about that in another post.)

"Best in Class" is part of corporate-speak nowadays. All corporate-speak is annoying to me, but I'm sure ZeroHedge commenters would understand the facetiousness of using it.
This morning, Zerohedge published this short post: Florida Residents Warned They'll Be Ticketed For Hurricane-Damaged Homes. This citation-writing and confronting of taxpaying homeowners with "safety notices: was going on 6 hours after the hurricane passed through, as residents assessed the damages to their houses.
Celso Perez told local WSVN-TV that he, his family, and his neighbors were starting to clear fallen trees from the streets after the storm passed through at nine in the morning on Monday. Hours later, in the afternoon, Perez got a visit from the county.
“And we thought he was here to help us or offer some type of assistance with the trees, maybe he was going to bring us ice or something,” Perez told WSVN. Instead, the official slapped a safety notice on the only part of Perez’s fence still standing.
“I laughed,” he said. “I thought he was kidding. ‘You are kidding right? We just had a hurricane six hours ago.’ ‘No, I’m not kidding. I have to cite you for this.’ I just laughed. OK, whatever; knock yourself out!”

California attempted money grab and Stupidity Convergence Zone

In an unusually stupid ZeroHedge article, "Bay Area Sues Big Oil For Billions" we are told that "the cities of San Francisco and Oakland have filed lawsuits against Chevron, Exxon, ConocoPhillips, BP, and Shell for the effect of their activities on climate change: higher sea levels." OK, if you click on the link, realize that this is not one of the 50% or so of their posts that are by the ZH writers, the "Tyler Durdens, if you will. It is written by a site to which I will never link or click on, named Oilprice.com, as the Global Climate DisruptionTM stupidity is strong in this one (named Irina Slav).
This may be the first post on Peak Stupidity that sees a convergence of these, the Global Climate Stupidity and Global Financial Stupidity topic keys. There will be a mathematically-predicted delay, but we will feel this SCZ (Stupidity Convergence Zone) in our bones soon enough. Yeah, California will run out of money to support their socialist ways, as the "other people" portion of the inequality are mostly in Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho as stupidity-nuclei in the oft-observed process of viscous Kalifornication. As to the other topic, Global Climate DisruptionTM is the excuse used for this attempt at a money grab to exceed by far even the tobacco lawsuits, which, though nothing more than a money train for trial lawyers, at least had a tiny amount of merit.
Oilprice.com, via Zerohedge does at least give just the facts at the beginning:

Do they not use oil and gas and anything involving combustion in the Golden State? If the ocean had risen any significant amount, wouldn't the LA beaches have moved already? That's some expensive real estate, and I believe we'd have heard about it. There is no evidence of any of this rising sea level business. Then there's this:

The plaintiffs claim the companies have know for half a century that greenhouse gas emissions are conducive to climate change but have deliberately concealed this...During the 1970's the big fear was Global Cooling (at least the committed to a direction of change back then). Shouldn't Exxon have been in the right to have extracted non-literally metric shit-tons of crude to keep combustion going in order to stave off the cold - listen, Californians, you see those free-spending tourists on the beach there - they didn't come for the cold. You know that, don't you? Exxon should sob in court: "We were only tryin' to help! Sob! We didn't know there'd be new scientists with different untested mathematical models. Sob!" (just to be sure, get a jury trial, of your peers, of engineers.)
The stupidity on the part of the Oilprice writer is this comparison of the current stupidity to an actual suit with merit over ACTUAL environmental destruction on the Gulf beaches and swamps after the blow out of that big off shore rig 7 years back.
Louisiana’s Plaquemines Parish is pursuing 21 different lawsuits against Big Oil for damage to the state’s wetlands, which is causing coastal erosion. Five of the lawsuits have already been scheduled for 2019.One of these things is real, and one is imaginary, you flaming retard!

Why the cops up north won't let the statues be torn down

Is it anarcho-tyranny (more here) again, with the South getting the bad end of it? Is it that the north won the War of Northern Aggression? Is it that the cntrl-left only wants to destroy Southern heritage? Peak Stupidity had been led to understand that it is all White heritage and culture that must be destroyed, per cntrl-left manifestos and stuff.
In a totally mentally-internal scoop here, Peak Stupidity has another theory. There are plenty of statues and monuments of American heritage up north. In fact, taking Boston for example, there are monuments to the start of our Revolution against the King of Great Britain, others about the battles fought there, and of course myriads of monuments to the founders of our country. There is one reason that the law up there will not let these cultural items be pulled out of the ground, and I have not read this ANYWHERE else on the web, so you read it here first:
For almost any given monument pulled out of the soil in the north, there will be a dead body, possibly Jimmy Hoffa, buried underneath! Were this to be discovered, it would cause the already overworked cops to be just loaded down with paperwork to the point of being basically out-of-commission (what with the parking tickets, inspections to make sure all car horns are working loudly and properly, and the sales at Dunkin Donuts). They just can't go digging willy-nilly up there.
Go anywhere, Giants Stadium, the local Dunkin Donuts, the Ballet, or the Opera, you just don't want to think about who may be buried under the foundation. This is really the best explanation Peak Stupidity has come up regarding this matter.

In her latest column with advice for President Trump, Ann Coulter nails it as usual. She even shows that she has shed the last vestiges of her neocon roots (first post on Peak Stupidity about her appears here), per:

If he did understand, then 243 days ago, he would have sent the Navy Seabees and Army Corps of Engineers to start building the wall.

Mr. Trump has had political views, mostly conservative, for a few decades now (see, like, youtube). I still believe that he decided to run for this office to do good for this country, though of course it was for his already-big ego too. I don't believe he is in this thing to just stay in power as his goal, like the Bushes, Clintons, Hussein Øb☭ma, and most of them going back to before WWII, I'd guess. This means that any threat of "get this done or you can kiss 2020 goodbye..." doesn't mean much to the man. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just that the guy has been a pretty royal screw-up so far. Miss Coulter's idea of threatening him with some sort of bogus prosecution is facetious, I'd guess, but otherwise there is no plan at all.
Again, I'd better end with - It could have been much, much worse!
Also, kudos to Ann for ragging on the tweeting, though, come to think of it, she's probably done her share of that. Peak Stupidity is still back in the world of telegrams (see bolded paragraph), via some sort of mix up.
I'd meant to write on China and then China vs. Russia (re exiting from Communism), but just was not in the mood for that tonight - more on that stuff coming.

Russians and Chinese and Bears, oh my! (and Pandas) Pt. 2

Part 1 of this post about the Russians (the Bear) and the Chinese (the Panda) was about the fabricated worries about these great nations of the world vs. Peak Stupidity's small concerns (somewhat facetious). There are real concerns about China, in particular, but those worries are mostly misplaced from where they should be, as worries about the major problems with the US economy.
In this follow-up are some thoughts about these 2 countries relating to their both having come through decades of rule by Communists. It should serve as a warning to the horrors of this sick ideology, as even after it's over, the recovery may not really take. Now, having written much of it (cool, it's like a time machine for the reader!) it looks like this one will be just about Russia, and Part 3 will be on China).
OK, about the Russians first, again. Peak Stupidity is not a history site, so the entire 70 year reign of the Commies in the USSR can't be related. Let's just summarize a bit here: This terrible period started when the Bolsheviks took over the country during hard times, oppressive rulership of the latest Czars, and World War I going on. A great epic movie about this period was is Nicholas and Alexandra about that last Czar and his family (a hell of a movie if you like history). (A great book about the former aristocrats and the hell they received is "Former People".). Life in the USSR may have had its ups-and-downs on a large scale, but compared to any western society it was ALL down. Between collective agriculture attempts, starvation - some forced and other natural (Herbert Hoover, in the early 1920's, before becoming US president, was part of a program to ship food to starving Russians, way before the forced Ukraine starvation), complete lack of freedom of speech, and a basic all around police state, the place was so entirely opposite from America of those times that the Free World and the Communist World (hence, the rest being termed the 3rd World) were like different planets with different atmospheres.
The end of the Communist era in the USSR was in the late 1980's. Now, many people maintain that the system was collapsing economically. That is partially the cause, but that collapse was helped on by the struggle to keep up with the US militarily, and Ronnie Reagan's (bluffing for the most part) Star Wars anti-ballistic-missile threat was the straw that broke the Bear's back. However, it was just the outside influence in general, the wealth and the fact that people inside the USSR knew more about how sick their system was, that put their system down finally. One could also say that the great leaders of the West, President Reagan, Konrad Adenauer of W. Germany, Pope John Paul from Poland, and others, along with millions of US/NATO soldiers, sailers and airmen, and millions of mechanical and electrical engineers were the ones that ended the Cold War. Let's keep in mind that there was this huge outside influence against the oppressive inhuman system of Communism.
After the Berlin Wall between East and West Germany came down, a major move both in action and symbolism, and then the USSR broke up, a lot went on there that at least I, but most Americans didn't care too much about. This was during the whole 1990's and until recently, when we have been told we should care a lot. More about this shortly. It was such a heady time, one might call it, as this Cold War had been a big part of people's lives for a long time. Americans (who paid for most of the "war") expected a "peace dividend", which didn't really occur due to the Neocons basically, but also much worry about imminent nuclear World War III had been lifted. Additionally, people in the West hoped the Russians along with the former East Bloc and their economies, would recover to the level of the West.
How did this economic recovery go, and how did the Russians break out of this 7 decade-long period of freedomless hell? As for the earlier part, the 1990's, this writer has learned a lot recently about how American bankers, big business and parts of our government just raided, looted and ravished the country of assets, as it was a period free from government iron-control but with no good rule-of-law. I don't believe many Americans know anything about this period in Russia. We figured they'd get hip to the Western ways (good, but turning bad anyway, so maybe no great loss anyway).
Russia still has the big resources, the metals, the coal, the oil and gas, timber and all that it used to have but couldn't exploit worth a damn under a Communist economic system. They can now, and maybe this new neocon-started Cold War (talk, for now) has something to do with the resources. The Russian people, however, don't seem to be just thriving from what you read. Sure, some of the older people would find it hard to cope, when things are not as stable (miserable, but stably miserable) as in the old days. However, one just hears about the young people as either becoming thugs, oligarchs or thug/oligarchs, not say, like Chinese small-business entrepreneurs.
Nobody takes the new Russians for fools, but people don't seem to trust them either. Between the on-line girls that come to marry horny Americans, only to bring the husband and kids over a few years later, and the scammers, spammers, spoofers, hackers, and just violent mafia types, they don't seem to be sending their best here, because maybe there's no best over there either. Is this just the culture or inherent genetic ways of these people coming out, that existed from before the whole Communist era, and beneath the surface during that time? The population, even with all that big land area to spread out in (not counting Siberia!) is not thriving, as far as I've read. Now, western countries in general have low fertility rates, but one expects the Russians to be a bit different, having NOT experienced the years of feminism, cntrl-left radicalism and just general stupidity that the West has. Yet, they are not making new Russians so fast, anchor-Ivans notwithstanding.
Religion was pretty much banned in Soviet Russia, or at least screwed with so much as to make sure people could not have confidence in it. That's to be expected, as Communism is a religion to its actual believers, the Party people, and it does not want competition. Has the revival of the Orthodox Christian churches helped the Russians recover at all? I hope it does, but I don't know if the new Russians are a religious people or not, whether they go to church or not.
The question is, then, did 7 decades of Communism do such a number on the population of Russia, that even 30 years, and maybe forever, is not time enough for a recovery, or did it just cover up the defects that then reappeared again? OK, this post was not written to denigrate the Russian people, as Peak Stupidity feels they should be natural allies of Americans. Many people still do not have it straight (or pretend not to) that Russians ≠ Soviet comrades. It's just been a long struggle for people treated like garbage, as is just the way under Communism. Now, let it be said that Peak Stupidity does not have a man-crush on President Donald Trump. In fact, we really don't want to be any part of any man-crush, and if it did involve the current President of the U.S. then we would hope any further action on this unrequited Pres-Luv would involve more of the rest of the staff, including Kelly-Ann and Javanka (especially that one half of Javanka with the nicer legs.)
However, any crush that we may have had would be dashed by this point, as he has been a major screw-up. People are giving up on the wild-ass hopes that Donald Trump is this genius playing 4-D chess. It seems as this point that it is more of a Special-Olympics sack race he's signed up for.
No matter what, we can still be grateful that we stopped the Hildabeast dead in her hoof-tracks. I wrote this to thank one commenter on unz.com under this article by the great writer John Derbyshire who related how much money and effort he had put into the Trump campaign, along with other help to politicians who claim to be on our side.
You really were a big part of that, man. Whatever happens to our country now, it still will happen more slowly, and without our being under the scolding tongue of that sick bitch. I am no George Clooney, with the means to just leave America like it’s a trip to 6 flags, but I would seriously think about leaving. That would be not so much due to the impending hell, as it will happen either way – it would more be due to my disgust at my countrymen for voting in someone like that.
(Yes, it WAS only a few votes, so it’s not like there were that many fewer countrymen voting for her than if she’d won, but it’s just the emotional sick feeling that I’d have had that Americans deserve the hell coming, but I sure don’t, and you too, I.D.)

Russians and Chinese and Bears, oh my! (and Pandas) Pt. 1

As one can see from the title, I can already tell this will be 2 separate posts, which is a step in the right direction for Peak Stupidity (having a plan for the direction of future posts, that is). This post is about the small problems we at Peak Stupidity have with these two nations/ethnicities vs. what "America" (really the American Feral Government and its sack-hangers) has with it. The 2nd post will be more about the effect of Communism on both of these big lands and populations, and how the people have come through it differently.
"The Neocons" topic key is attached to this post, as they are a major factor in stirring up animosity, or at least worry, about these two major players in world history, especially regarding the Russians. Though China, of course, is more up and coming economically, or already there, you could say, Russia is still an important part of the world. It would behoove the "leaders" of this country to act responsibly with regards to these 2 powers, and part of that is for the statesmen (haha, haven't seen a real one of those in a while) to use diplomacy while keeping American's interest in mind when dealing with them. That would be a nice change over rhetoric that may have been very appllicable during the Cold War / Chairman Mao eras for the Soviets and the Red Chinese respectively. (One could say without argument from Peak Stupidity that the Red Chinese were also on the other side of this Cold War - true, the hot wars did involve the Chinese, but OTOH, the political maneuvering, weapons races, subterfuge and what most think of the "Cold War" involved the USSR.) That same rhetoric is downright silly now, as we are not dealing with the same people or government on either side.
Please don't think this post (and #2) are here to badmouth everything "America" and tout the new Ruskies and new Chinese. There's good and bad, and in fact, due to having more personal knowledge of China than Russian, Peak Stupidity has either 2 or 3 articles coming on the good/bad of modern China.
OK, then, Russia first. In my opinion, the Cold War rhetoric and the acual military "boxing-in" by NATO of the country of Russia has been going on for almost 3 decades after the demise of the USSR due to 2 reasons:
A) The Deep State per the original definition discussed here fears death, as do most people and about all organizations. They do not want to get off the gravy train of huge un-budgeted US government funds and fun times playing international man of mystery around the world. In addition to keeping this Cold War 2.0 thing going they are focusing their skills inward - another topic - see US Police State.
B) The Neocons are just a warmongering crowd that is still flush with power (oh, yeah, it'll fade when the money stops). Russia is as good a bogeyman as any, and for these guys, it's just a big game of Risk.
What are these people pretending to be worried about? Is Russia going to take over the world? Where's their empire? Will they raise the price of oil without our control and say-so? Does that last question even matter much? Most thinking Americans who are not part of this sham have no idea why this "Russian Bear" is any threat to us. This is not 1965 dammit (to cover it better, not 1945 to 1985).
Here's Peak Stupidity's problem with the Ruskies: Most of the spam comments and stupid hacking attempts that we've seen are from IP #'s that are attached to locations in Russia. Admittedly they could be spoofed IP #'s from people elsewhere, but why would they pick Russian IP's? Are these Russians so bored and devoid of good ideas that they feel they should spend the best years of their lives putting impossible-to-read viagra ads on Peak Stupidity? C'mon guys! Keep this crap up and I'll be a Juan McCain supporter! Bombs away, you hackers, figuratively speaking. (That was a joke about Senator McAmnesty - the reader should know how I feel about that scumbag by now.). OK, so the Russians can be annoying hackers, but that's not a reason to start a war.
This post is STILL getting long, but now on to China. Look at the background in that picture. (OK, NOT a good example, but just wanted to show some China-looking architecture). There are 20 cities or more that are the size of, or bigger than, New York City! Hell, it could be 50. 10 years back, 5 cities had modern subways, now it could be also 20 - just duckduckgo it - I don't like checking stuff every 2 minutes while writing - this is a descriptive post, coming from my head, not Wiki. Yes, as my next couple of posts on Chinese infrastructure will elaborate on, this country is growing massively economically. There is something to be afraid of, if you are an American entrenched in the Feral Gov't who is used to American ruling the waves, skies, and space, no doubt. There IS indeed a worry for regular Americans about how we will have decent jobs, hence lives, in this new limited-manufacturing economy of ours. When the reputation of the US economy and the US dollar along with it, go down the tubes, the Chinese will have the money to do what they want to WITHIN the US economically too. Maybe it'll just be buying up a few National parklands to mow down the trees, maybe it'll be as far as turning Americans into colonial indentured servant types - this all remains to be seen.
With that all said (got your blood pressure up high enough yet?), then why should this broke country, America, spend money defending the Spratley Freaking Islands, or Formosa (they're calling it Taiwan now, see, cause they rule the waves), or anywhere west of California? (yeah, screw Hawaii, other than Steve McGarrett and Danno, who cares about the place.). Enough, you can't be an empire when you're broke, I hate to break it to these people. The best way to defend ourselves from what's coming down economically is to become self-sufficient again. Could that possibly happen? The welfare state would have to be severely dismantled and the warfare state wouldl have to cease-and-desist. That is about as likely as the end of what my main beef with China is, in the next paragraph.
Peak Stupidity's main problem with China is still CHEAP CHINA-MADE CRAP!. See, I'm thinking locally not globally here. How can you fix small stuff that breaks within a year, but not 30 days, of purchase when there are hardly any small hardware stores around, and they don't have 1/2 the stuff you used to be able to get? They are shipping this crap over here to slow down our productivity, as documented right HERE, see as project QASFAM IV. There is no time left for new ideas and projects, when your shit keeps breaking! That is my problem with China, and I think the State Department should drop everything and take up this matter.
So, should the average American be worried or even scared of the Russian Bear and the Chinese man-eating Panda? Not in the ways that the elites tell us, we shouldn't. No. We'd better start taking care of our own business, to have a good chance against the Chinese economy, and as for the Russians, just don't buy viagra off the comments here, and hopefully they'll get the hint and get back to Math, Master Chessplaying, and Metallurgy. Or, at least, Bears, Beets, and Battlestar Galactica.

Per Breitbart yesterday, this movie-power-couple is apparently more scared of a Moslem terrorist organization that may have it in for them than the totalitarianism that should have already ensued in America due to Donald Trump becoming president here. Men at Work, still...

How did these ones get missed by the PC Police? I saw one "Men at Work" sign just today, but just could not get a pic, hence the file photo above. Yeah, Peak Stupidity is well aware that men do 98% of the dangerous work, and and maybe 95% of the hard manual labor, at least in America. That does not usually stop the politically correct scolds that want to tell us we are all equal, and the signs (like above) are sexist.
It takes a lot of money and time to make an assload of new signs to replace these, and who will do the hard work at the plant to do it? Men.
It's sad that just seeing a sign like this makes part of my day, but that's what it's come to. Now, from a totally different time, and a place where women glowed and men plundered - no, no nothing to do with the 3-Mile Island nucular facility or it's problems a year earlier, we have Men at Work from a "Land Down Under" off of their debut album "Business as Usual", written by Colin Hay, and Ron Strykert.
Hey, Peak Stupidity readers know by now that lyrics don't matter much, but this is a good example. I DID try vegemite about 10 years after hearing this song, and, trust me, it is some nasty shit. If that black goo is the Streelin version of peanut butter, then I don't want to try their jelly substitute either. Again, don't listen to the lyrics, as Peak Stupidity learned the hard way!

This and another book that'll I'll write about soon were meant to be the first 2 book reviews on Peak Stupidity. Now, keep in mind that this prophetic novel was written in 1975(!) by Mr. Jean Raspail (yes, it's a man ... the French are like that - no addadictomy involved here) with a great translation by Norman Shapiro. Yes the translator IS important, as this is not an action novel, and the best part of this book is the descriptions of the thoughts and discussions of the French population on major turmoil coming via a million destitute .-Indians fixin' to land on the Riviera with more boatloads to come. Censorship, Inc. has not yet taken "Camp of the Saints" down from Amazon.com ... yet.
Anwyay, today, VDare featured this review by Mr. Chris Roberts that is good as anything Peak Stupidity would post. Here is the same review posted on unz.com where there is a place for comments. It seems like some excerpts from this review are in order, then a few comments on behalf of Peak Stupidity.
Instead of gaudily focusing on black thugs, Arab terrorists, or conniving Asians, The Camp of the Saints puts the white race in front of a mirror to ask, “Why do you bow to those who wish you harm and who promise you subjugation?” This question takes up most of the book because the Third World does not reach Europe until the very end. The story is mainly about what goes on in the minds of whites as the “armada” of aliens slowly approaches.Does this sound familiar at all to you? Globalist elites replacing the people? Borders that are purposefully not enforced letting blank million ... anyone? anyone? Twenty to twenty-five million illegals in. Corrupt churches taking taxpayers money to resettle .. anyone? Anyone? 10's of thousands of Somalians ... in Minney ... Anyone? Anyone? ... apolis.
Mr. Raspail brilliantly depicts the weakness of the West’s elites. Even as millions of non-whites who share no language, culture, or religion with Europe approach, media and government alike welcome this coming dawn that will end the West’s present Dark Age.
Remember, the book was written 42 years back. It's incredibly prophetic! The reviewer goes on:
All the suicidal Western concepts are there: the idea that diversity is redemption, the guilt about wealth and comfort, pathological altruism—all with a curious veneer of ambivalence. What does it matter? We’ve had our day in the sun. To care about survival would be prejudice.
Yes, that seems to be the attitude of the majority. All that guilt will go away once the SHTF though, but kinda' late.
It is all too familiar, and a mark of incredible prescience that a novel written two generations ago in another country has a cast of characters immediately recognizable to any American in the current year. The Camp of the Saints even has good-hearted, normal white citizens suspicious of the coming changes, but paralyzed by dishonest media and the fear of social stigma.Indeed! Now, the ideas mentioned in this next paragraph of the Mr. Roberts' review meshes with what Peak Stupidity has state multiple times but summed up here with regard to theories of long-term conspiracies.
The book’s strength is its unwillingness to settle for easy answers. There is no cabal of Jews or bankers behind our race’s suicide. The bias of the media is not concocted by a conspiracy. Christianity is not a disease of the mind, but a sociological reality. The villains are not all perverts or pedophiles; the heroes are not flawless and square jawed. The Camp of the Saints takes stock of the world as it is, and then thrusts a crisis upon it to see what would happen. The author has said that he didn’t know the story’s ending when he started.
OK, well, that is about 1/2 of the review so you may as well go read it if you've come this far.

16 Years of Spreading Democracy - They still hate us for our freedoms(?)

Peak Stupidity remembers 9/11/01 today. This is not in the sense of a commemoration, but just that, yes, we remember what happened, what people said then and what people in power have actually done since then. There is not much good to be said, beside things already written about the bravery of the men of the NY Fire Department. The United States had never had a direct attack of this magnitude within the country itself since Pearl Harbor, Hawaii at the end of 1941 (yes, it was just a territory then).
It was shocking, and the reactions by people of the media could not have been expected to be completely sane just a day later. Ann Coulter (whom has come around to be a true Libertarian-Conservative) wrote about us going over there to kick ass and convert them all. The neocons talked about our Moslem problem as an opportunity (though even back then the worry was the "backlash", as dying of smoke inhalation, burns, or a jump from 1000 ft. is bad, but having peoples' feeling hurt is another story entirely.).
There are still arguments over what really happened, and I WILL NOT get into that. Suffice it to say that indeed the US Feral Government seemed really ready with a plan to do something, mostly to really get moving on a more solid police state, very quickly. Does that kind of jumping-to-action happen a lot in big governments? I don't seem to recall anything ...
We all know that only very specific minor solutions as reactions to the attacks were accomplished, while the basic problems were maintained or made worse. Cockpit doors on airliners are hard to bust through now. Check. The amount of Moslems entering the US to stay, and even from Saudi Arabia, where the culprits came from, have increased drastically. VDare has all of this, and here is information on number of Saudi students. This box in not checked. Immigration under control now? That box is not checked.
Let me get to the point of the post title. Well, you'd have thought, after the initial anger and other emotions wore off, people in power in the US Feral Gov't could really look at what the big problems were: Uncontrolled immigration, military meddling in places that were not any part of Defense of the country, and one more to come last here. However, the big idea of the neocons, President Bush included there, were already hatched, I guess, and the deal was we would spread democracy, and give that part of the world a taste of our "freedoms", so they'd never go back to their camel-jockeying, women-oppressing, ayatollah-following ways. Just try it in any country first, say, what the hell, Iraq.
Next, on the domestic front, the "Patriot" act, something that America's founders wouldn't have used for toilet paper due to biohazard, was passed, again rather quickly for a big government. It was part of the blueprint for the police state in progress. About the freedoms to be foisted on the poor bastards in the Middle East Moslem world, is freedom like a pile of gravel? Do we reduce our pile of freedom when we move it with the front-end loader all over the world. It sure as hell seems like it here, as there ain't much left!
Yeah, many think that, oh it's just the airports. "I will boycott that whole industry before I take part in the massively undignified and unconstitutional stuff that goes on.", you may adamantly tell me. I hate to break it to you, but it will come in some form to other travel modes and other areas of everyday life. They can't just have a partial police state - it's one of those all-or-nothing things.
This part about the airports, though takes me to the last, but important, point of non-solution to the problem we had on 9/11/01. Another box unchecked is any fix to the tragedy of having unarmed people on all 4 of those airliners that day. The picture above shows it vividly. People are still, 16 years later, being DISARMED at the airports. No lesson has been learned. The next paragraph is something I've been wanting to write for a long time.
Wouldn't this country, and the whole world possibly, be so much different now, if the following simple thing happened 16 years ago today: What if the airport-based security guys at that time were NOT disarming passengers? What if only 2-3 passengers on each of those airliners had been armed (very likely were they living per US Constitution Amendment II)? Can you imagine how proud Americans would have felt and still would, had the planes been defended through quick dispatch of the RWB's (Ragheads With Boxcutters)? Not only that, but the rest of the world would be mostly envious, some angry, that this was a country that could not be messed with as there was still "a rifle behind every blade of grass".
The Middle East was invaded willy-nilly and the US population was coerced into becoming a police state, all because of 19 guys with boxcutters? Is that what I'm telling you? PATHETIC!
