I like Florida Governer Meatball Ron, both the name and the guy. I don't know if 3rd-time-around candidate Donald Trump used that nickname for him - he LUVS nicknames - as a slur or to be affectionate. See, he first tried out "Ron DeSanctimonius", which didn't make any sense. It's good wordplay, sure, but the guy isn't sanctimonious, so nahhh, that didn't stick.
He settled on "Meatball Ron". Peak Stupidity's reason for using this nickname is simply that we have to think about spelling each time we write (see?!*) "DeSantis", but not when we write "Meatball" and "Ron".
From our fairly-unused topic key President DeSantis, the reader can tell we had high hopes for the guy. I think it was only due to the Regime waged hard-core tyrannical Lawfare on Trump for a couple of years that Ron was left way behind in that election.
Also under that topic key, the reader will find a 10 round Trump v DeSantis series, spread out just a bit, mostly from Fall of '22 through late Spring of '23. (Then, the lawfare superqualified one of the condenders.) Round 10, all the way into '24 was titled Vetoing the Hecklers. In it, we compared videos of each of these guys calling out hecklers at their events. Trump won this one with a big knock-out. Amazingly, both short videos are still up, so you may want to watch these first.
I'll say it again here, Trump and his "Go home to Mommy... yeah, go back home to Mommy... Bye!" was pretty juvenile, BUT he came out with that right away and it's just silly enough to have me (and everyone else) laughing... I mean every time I hear it, years later I just crack up. I'm smiling as I write this.
Ron DeSantis eventually came up with a decent come-back, but it took 15 seconds! You can't DO that! It's a campaign. This was but a stage and you were merely players. You must play the part right.
OK, well, perhaps Meatball Ron has been perusing Peak Stupidity and taking our criticism constructively, as I just ran into another example of his handling hecklers from the other day. He has gotten.... errr, he's working on this. The casting director has not put out any ads for a new leading man at least. We're in The Biz, so Meatball Ron can consider this post payment-in-kind.
Bear in mind, what's described here is all important for campaigning. Meatball Ron has more intelligence in his pinky fingers than Trump has in total, but you can't lead with all that if you don't get elected. That's what this is about. Trump is very good at putting the act on, everyone would surely admit. Roll tape!
Unfortunately, I cannot get the video I've seen on X, so I'll paste in this one, made by a guy who's no Meatball Ron supporter at all. Don't mind the title. The guy hates him in fact, but he's got almost all of the portion of video I wanted to show. To set the scene here, the good Governor was in the middle of making a great comparison of Florida to New York State. Our host wiped all of that, but, take it at 0:41... lights, camera, action!
No, no, you're butchering it... CUT! Look, Ron, first of all you're acting angry. That's not what this scene calls for. You have to show humorous disdain. Our screenwriter gave you a good first line to work with: "Soros isn't paying you enough, because you're not very good at this!"
Of course, were I the director, I'd tweek that just a bit. The main problem is you kept going on, way too long. (I know, kinda like some of these posts, haha.) Say the line, and be done with it. After all that, you finally smiled (0:58), but, no, that was only because you felt good for at least remembering and quickly saying a line this time around. That was a real smile but one inappropriate for right there. You needed a smirk, sigh...
Is there any way we can get back in touch with Leonardo DiCaprio? This is just ... OK, sorry, uncalled for... I liked that "Not my first rodeo" bit, if that makes your feel better. We'll keep that.

I am happy to hear that Meatball Ron is shutting down the Flock cameras in Florida. A small step in the right direction.
