One of mid-1990s Canadian rock star Alanis Morissette's most well-known songs was Isn't that Ironic?, from her album Jagged Little Pill. Thing was, and still is, the ironic part about that song is that its lyrics didn't really describe anything ironic. The only non-tautological definition I have for the adjective form goes:
Poignantly contrary to what was expected or intended.I suppose I could call it a poignant song, but then I'd have to look up "poignant", and heck with that - I could be here all day! The events sung about in that song aren't unexpected...
... but what IS ironic is that the artist that gave us Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morissette Sues Former Tour Manager for Fraud and Extortion, Accuses Him of Blackmail by Threatening to Report Her for Drug Trafficking. Drugs are bad, mmmkay? Trafficking them? Well let me ask Michael Scott about that...
“On Tuesday, the singer filed a complaint alleging her ‘disgruntled’ ex-employee Keren Urinov threatened to report her for drug trafficking, according to court docs.”I don't know how I was supposed to know this, but Keren Urinov is a chick too - Gateway Pundit headlines are plain wrong, pretty regularly.
Urinov reportedly filed her own suit against Morissette 13 days before. At this point, it is unclear what allegations she is making against the singer.
“Morissette claimed Urinov attempted to extort the Grammy winner into ‘employ[ing] her as a tour director for fifteen years and pay[ing] her massive compensation’, per the filing.”I'm guessing this is not just about the drugs. About the drugs, though:
“She alleged that in June 2025, Urinov’s bag was seized at the airport while flying to Spain for a concert for allegedly containing marijuana and xylazine, a non-opioid animal tranquilizer.OK, whatever, but how about this, is this part ironic?
[…] However, Morissette claimed Urinov and her attorney then ‘sent a series of increasingly extortionate letters’ and threatened to ‘file a patently frivolous lawsuit against Morissette in the United Kingdom for unspecified claims if Morissette refused to tell British law enforcement that the alleged drugs were hers’.”
Morisette wants a jury trial and compensation of over $75,000.Seventy-five THOUSAND dollars! [Oww, my pinkie!] Though I think of her as a "one album wonder"* Jagged Little Pill was such a big hit for Alanis Morissette - #1 on the Billboard magazine album charts, that she HAD to have made A LOT of money off it. She still ought to be, in fact, from royalties... probably from the Muzak versions too.
Even with steady high inflation, $75,000 is not peanuts for most of us yet, but for someone who's had a Billboard #1 hit music album in the '90s, that's basically chump-change level. (Maybe that's to compensate her for the lost drugs?) Nah, hell, that's not irony either, it's just stupid.
As for the song, it's got a decent melody, and Miss Morissette sings well, but Isn't it Ironic that the lyrics, the least important part, have me picking another of her songs today? You can see those for Isn't that Ironic? in that link, and you can see that most is not ironic but just shows a lack of common sense. Here:
- Don't play the lottery. It's for suckers - you're not gonna win.
- Too bad about your wine.
- You probably should have been executed long ago anyway.
- Have a back-up inside venue for your wedding. It does tend to rain sometimes.
- Wut?
- Think for yourself
- Airline travel is safer, miles-to-miles
- Give yourself an extra 5 minutes for traffic.
- Smoking is bad, mmkayyy?
- One word for you, "Plasticware".
- Don't be a slut.
It's kinda too late for most of this advice for Alanis Morissette. Peak Stupidity will therefore feature another hit from that big mid-1990s album, Hand in my Pocket.
I never saw this video before. The mid-'90s were an odd time for music videos. Music videos on TV weren't a big deal anymore - MTV had turned into NTV (you can guess about the "N") and VH-1 wasn't a big deal among all the cable TV channels. Yet, due to internet connections consisting of dial-up modems providing a couple of thousand bits per second, one couldn't watch any video on the internet, especially in real-time, unless he was, I dunno, a member of the intelligence community.
For me, the songs in Jagged Little Pill seemed to have a good sound back 3 decades ago, but now, she sounds just annoying. I don't like Alanis Morissette anymore. I particularly remember from back then that, among other lyrics that I wouldn't expect to make sense, she uses the word "chickenshit" wrong. She means "chicken" for cowardly, as "chickenshit" has been a word meaning relatively very small or unimportant, such as a lawsuit asking for $75,000 from a musician who'd had a #1 album.
* There are the many "one hit wonders", but this one album had 4 or 5 hit songs on it. There was that one big album, but I could not remember song from any of her others.

This is completely off topic, mostly because I have nothing else to say about Miss Morrisette, but... Just the other day, Mrs. Smith noticed that Publix had some cat food on sale. (Publix's prices are quite reasonable if you buy the things they sell for half price. Also meat. They have better meat for better prices than anyone else around here.)(Unfortunately, they can't order any eel for me.) So... We bought some of this new cat food for Baby Girl to try...

And apparently this is her new favorite cat food. (She luv, luv, luvs it!) It is better than Fancy Feast, and just a little cheaper (when it's buy one get one free. They also sell it at chewy for $0.91/can.) And, if for some reason I had to eat some cat food, these look pretty good. The chicken and duck looks especially tasty as does the tuna with shrimp in broth.
So yeah... That's my story about the new cat food.
(In case anyone is looking for a new kind of cat food.)
Been hot as hell here the last few days. But all is well. Been pretty lazy because of the heat. I have just a little bit of garden to finish cleaning so I can plant some fall stuff. (Everything is pretty spent. Except the okra. Okra is loving the heat and still producing well.)

Yes, that stuff looks pretty good. (The 2nd link went to an dead ebay page.) As a Prepper one should buy "multi-use" food, I guess, haha.
The neighbors got a 12 pack of some type of wet cat food, and asked me if we'd ordered it. It wasn't us, but they have no cats, so they gave it to us. This guy is really into it - beats even pieces of salmon or beef from us. Nobody ever found out where the cat food came from - the label didn't say.
We'll catch you tomorrow, here or there...
