They're not MY LEOs, though, as I've been against* the expansion of the U.S. Police State since the Waco Texas Massacre in 1993. Also, seeing as how I'm a water sign, I don't particularly get along with Leo's to begin with.
As for our post title, Betteridge's law of headlines** says that the answer should be "no". That's true here too. Guilty as charged. "Our" LEOs are not getting larger - they've BEEN larger.
Yeah, Leon too. Cops have not been an exception to the average big weight gain over the last half century of Americans and people all over the world. They COULD recruit the more in-shape guys, but... nah. It's not just that. Since these outfits have been greatly militarized over arguably the last 3 decades, the officers, including these US Marshalls, have so much PPR (Personal Protective Equiment - remember that from such Panics at the Kung Flu PanicFest?) and also POE, it must add another 20 lb.
When you have 8 of the 11 super-sized cops together, for some reason all needed to make an arrest of one alleged pervert perp, you're talking nearly a ton of mass concentrated on 100 square feet ... on an old residential 2nd floor deck, that might have some rot in the structure... and not particularly well-connected to the house, you get Terrifying Moment Deck COLLAPSES Beneath U.S. Marshals During Missouri Raid on Convicted Sex Offender โ Nine Officers Plunge to Ground. This happened in Huntsville, Missouri (Randolph County, in the north-central part of the State).

Note the average weight difference from this time, 46 years ago. (Yeah, I know they're stunt men. Even the stunt men now are probably heavier.)

* Peak Stupidity has written quite a lot in support of ICE lately. That may seem a contradiction, but that's only if you see them the way the ctrl-left wants us to. Will ICE get out of hand and be the Police State? I don't know, but right now, things have only gotten violent when they are prevented by Sancitmony Cities from doing their actual non-violent jobs, as in the past - Immigration and Customs Enforcemnt.

PS: That's yet another thing, Alarmist. Indeed, one might decide to piss on the wall behind the bar and automatically become a "sex offender". That stuff's gone way too far.

PS: I had the same thoughts, Mr. Smith. If you've served the punishment, that should be IT. I never thought these lists are Constitutional. If the guy's still a threat, I'd say the sentence was not long enough. I dunno - not my thing.
I also figured - well, I wrote this - that all this guy did was forget, not get round to, not care about, however you want to put it, fill out the form. (I assume it's all on-line on a "portal" now.) He wasn't in there with hostages!
Again, since they knew where he lived, rather than send all those cops, why not first look for his vehicle (they can probably look that up too) or any vehicle, and sit in an unmarked car until he comes out. That would have saved the guy's (insurance for the?) deck.

I didn't fact check this or anything but the news said these guys were there because someone didn't register as a sex pest. (Or something.)
But why does he have to register? I mean... Didn't this guy go through some sort of kangaroo court proceeding where they decided upon this registration mandate?
And... They (apparently) knew where this guy lives. What's with sending nine (count 'em 9) federal marshalls to a guy's house over a paperwork violation? Why didn't they simply "register" him by themselves? Don't these guys have access to the "registration computer" or whatever?

PS: They are not the heaviest cops I've seen, but they don't look like the guys that I'd see back in the day, and in masses, the cops in the videos of the '68 Chicago riots and I imagine, your Dad's crowd.

I watched my old man walk into a race riot in the 1960s in short sleeves, helmet with a face shield, and a nite-stick. Then again, he was a Korean War vet, so he had seen worse.
My first thought was that these pansies donโt look too heavy, but they are certainly bulked up on gear.
My second thought was that maybe the deck was the product of wetback labor.

As far as I can tell, Munoz was released from confinement on September 24, 2024, following a (July 6th) 2022 conviction, meaning he was incarcerated for approximately 26.5 months. (2 years, 2 months, 18 days) As is evidenced by the link below, he pleaded guilty and this case never went to trial...
