Her name is Francesca Hong, and she's got mental problems, she's a Communist, and she's running for Governor of Wisconsin. "Hello, Francesco, welcome to our joint 12-Step Program this morning! Please clap."

Well before she could possible have attended such programs, Francesca Hong was born in Madison, Wisconsin in early November of 1988. Her parents, as could easily be guessed, were immigrants from the Orient. I'd have guessed from China from the name, actually it would have been more likely Taiwan or Hong (but, of course) Kong at that time. From her face, one might well guess Korean, and he'd be right.
Google AI tells me that her Father, Jinkuk Hong, came to the U.S. so he could study for a doctorate in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ahh, geeze. So he wasn't an important engineering specialist or mathematician. Apparently, we needed more Sociologists at the time, badly. Her mother, Youngjoo Hong, well not so Young at the time of this writing (probably not Jewish either), was initially a stay-at-home mom who later earned a degree in Education from UW-Madison and worked as a public school teacher in Wisconsin for more than ten years.* The "American" Hong has a younger sister named Theresa.
That was in the late 1980s. Korean immigrants are some of the more assimilating types - it helps when your whole country doesn't come here en masse - but, additionally, immigration was still different in the 1980s. Multiculturalism was not a big thing yet. It was still OK with everyone that you fit in and became an American as best you could.
What do lots of immigrant families who aren't your Engineers, computer geeks, and such do to fit in with society? They start restaurants. There's generally lots of demand from people sick of Ruby Tuesday/Friday AppleChile's and such. Then, there are The Foodies too.

It looks like a nice cool quite place to enjoy an hour of rest out of the heat, with that won-ton soup, some tea, noodles and lots of chicken dishes. Well, that's Chinese, but, whatever... you get the scene.
Mrs. (at the time) Hong started a restaurant with her White husband Matt Morris. He is a chef. She says she's a chef. They ran Morris Ramen, probably one of the Top Ramen places, there on King St. in... Madison, Wisconsin.
How does a woman like Francesca Hong because a DSA Communist radical who trashes Thanks-freaking-giving then? The NY Post recounted what Miss Hong said 6 years ago about this American holiday. (Hell, we all get wacky during Pandemics, don't we?)
At the height of the Covid pandemic, Francesca Hong, who is the frontrunner to become the Democratic nominee in America’s Dairyland, said that the beloved holiday needs to be scrapped, and that America “should have done this in 1621.”(The "[sic]"s weren't mine, so that must have been a tweet being brought to light.)
She added: “If it takes a worldwide pandemic for us to realize we should stop celebrating colonialism and the original superspreader event that killed Indegenous [sic] folx [sic] and women so be it.”
Now, Miss Hong is a politician, no matter how wacky, so her recent defense of her anti-traditional-Americanism was the usual mush. From The NY Post:
I’m a chef, and one of the first meals that I made that was for the community when i was 16 was a Thanksgiving meal. I always think my hospitality background and owning a restaurant for 7-8 years, that bringing folks around the table to share conversation and build community is always a good thing. So, will you ban Thanksgiving once The People take over the Wisconsin prefecture, or not? She's not enamored by a few other holidays either:
But Thanksgiving is also a time that’s incredibly painful for many people in our communities. So I think there I wanted to make sure people understood there are multiple views, but views can evolve.
And the position I’m running for right now — and I think my background as a chef will actually help me become a better governor that’s able to bring more people to the table.
These include rants against Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, the Fourth of July, Halloween and Christmas.Well, it's more like the following for all these holidays:
In 2024, she used the occasion of Mother’s Day to remind everybody they should be sad.By "some", she means herself, and by "others" she also means herself. UNEARTHED INTERVIEW Reveals Wisconsin’s Dem-Socialist “Abolish ICE and Prisons” Frontrunner for Governor Admits to Being Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder, Cutting Herself On Purpose, Spent Time in Psychiatric Hospital.
“Today can be a beautiful day of celebration for some, and a difficult or melancholy day for others. Whatever mother’s day means to you, please be gentle with yourself and kind to others,” she wrote.
I'm not sure why the Gateway Pundit writers don't understand why Radical Leftist Francesca Hong Does Total 180 – Now Claims Thanksgiving is Her Favorite Holiday!. She was against Thanksgiving before when she was on the low pole of her BiPolaririty, and she's now FOR Thanksgiving while on the high pole of her BiPolarity. What's the problem? She's a mental case.
Peak Stupidity did not write this post in order to make fun of real mental problems. At least Miss (now) Hong is not Bi-Sexual too or one of the newer made-up genderbending ailments. It's a real health problem that Gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong has... but the problem is just that "Gubernatorial candidate" part. Is there ANY OTHER Communist the DSA of Wisconsin could have come up with? Is there any way someone could have run that's NOT even a Communist?
That gets to the gist of the other problem, maybe the trigger of her mental problems (though they are usually genetic). She was not just born in Madison, Wisconsin. She went through years of schooling in Madison, Wisconsin, played soccer (there ya' go, a gateway sport) in Madison Wisconsin, and then went to college at The University of Wisconsin, which IS IN Madison, errr, Wisconsin. It was Communism all the way up.
Being the daughter of leftwing immigrants (Sociology? Please!), was another factor. It was NOT OK for her to appreciate the Thanskgiving tradition of these colonists that her family was now living among, after coming from Korea. (You might call her parents colonists themselves even, except they moved to a BETTER society, not a shithole.) Seeing the nice White extended families together with their turkeys and stuffing and cranberry sauce... time to totally remake society. Hey, Communists do that. Cool!

It is also possible that Miss Hong was not the best of chefs either. Making noodles and kimchi is one thing, but when your turkey comes out dry and you can't make stuffing, it's, yeah, time to totally remake society.
Now THAT'S how you get someone like Francesca Hong.

Crazy eyes... I thought there was an old country song. I'm no psychiatrist that could try to medicate her problem, but I imagine she'd have been happier with an intact family still - she's got a daughter - cooking and hosting at the restaurant, than being a radical politician and [shudder] maybe the Governor of Wisconsin.
Finally, what has been called being BiPolar the last 3 or 4 decades used to be called Manic Depression. There was a song - had nothing to do with mental problems, but has some manic guitar. It was one of Jimi Hendrix's best, IMHO. You need to go to 11 on this one!
Jimi wrote that 60 years ago next May.
* Was it plagiarism when I pasted in those two parents' backgrounds straight off of AI? I mean, hell, they get stuff off of me without any quote marks, and... well, how is AI gonna sue me anyway?

PS. We go to see several Dead tribute and Dead adjacent bands in the area on a regular basis. Some are very good and have been together for years. My wife tolerates it mostly.

PS: Sorry about your friend Tom, Ben.
'The Music Never Stopped was one of my favorites, but then I have about 100 favorites. Yeah, Bob was the last of the main 3 band members - though I don't discount the various keyboard players and Billy and Mick, the 2 drummers.
From being around some Dead Heads long ago, I felt that it would really be the end of the world for these people once Jerry died, or really Jerry's guitar died.

"'If the thunder don't get you then the lighting will.'" Wait, wut?"
One or the other must have gotten my friend Tom -- my best friend from college -- when he was vacationing in Italy last month. Dead at 61. His favorite Dead song was The Music Never Stopped, and when Weir died in January I thought perhaps it finally had. Now....

PS: About lightening, yes I've heard the warnings about being under trees or the highest of anything. Perhaps the tallest Communist Kickball player was the one who got struck and burned. That looked terrible.
The Grateful Dead said it best:
"If the thunder don't get you then the lighting will." Wait, wut?
(From "The Wheel". Not all their songs were upbeat and danceable.)

PS: Agreed about Community Organizers, Adam. I first heard that term when used for the "career" of Obama. it didn't sound constructive then, and it doesn't sound constructive now.
Yeah, good point about Miss Hong's family's native land. Maybe that perturbs here deep inside. Yet her White Wisconsin husband didn't look like a GI, and she didn't love him long time...

PS: "Can someone really call themself a chef if all they make is ramen? Delicious, tasty, ramen?"
Ramen noodles at 17 cents a pack was what it took to make me figure I was a real chef back in college, Adam. That, and Campbell's soups of various type... and jello, let's not forget that I learned how to make jello.
Now, we did got to a Ramen place in one of NY City's Chinatowns. Besides that this gave me more info on the illegal alien racket, I will say that there was meat in it, and it was pretty good for the cash I paid. OTOH, inside LaGuardia airport, I really wanted some hot food, but ended up paying $17 for a big bowl of Ramen noodles with NO MEAT. I remarked that I could have made this for under a buck. (I imagine there's been some inflation even in Ramen noodle packages since my college days.) No, but I was paying for the "atmosphere".. and the huge taxes.
If Mayor Mandami would bring the Ramen prices down, that'd be an ideology I could get behind! /George Castanza

PS: Good morning, Gentlemen,
So, I finally got around to reading Achmed's post...

(Invisible? I didn't even know you exist until last night.)
(Kinda wish I still didn't know you exist. But alas...)
Don't get me wrong here. As something of a foodie myself, I love a good ramen. But.. Can someone really call themself a chef if all they make is ramen? Delicious, tasty, ramen?
She also calls herself a community organizer. 🤔
Which sounds like a quintessential bullshit job to me even though the interweb is trying to convince me that "community organizer" is not a bullshit job because community organizers build local power. (When community organizers say they build local power they mean political influence, not electricity.) Also, I googled 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑟𝑔𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑧𝑒𝑟 and the description it gave me sounds suspiciously similar to what a community organizer supposedly does.
Anyway...
Do you think Miss Hong knows that South Korea is a U.S. colony?

PS: "She thinks (says) whites are evil but married a white man." Yeah, but she divorced him, the damn colonizer, so there's that...
I agree it'd be disgraceful if a nutcase like this wins. Then again, I've been reading about election cheating all over the place. Can they cheat by that much? (Normal people who vote as a proportion of voters in Wisconsin)
Yes, this post had a little bit of Hail to You in it, though I didn't go back to Francesca's Korean GrandDad and Mamasan.

A few years ago there were a number of people killed by a lightning strike in Lafayette Park, in front of the White House. Not one of the victims a politician or lobbyist.
(The advice you sometimes hear about not sheltering under a large tree is true.)

Thanks for this investigation into this person.
I was thinking a few days ago that if she wins for governor of a state with a normal-person majority like Wisconsin, it will be a deep disgrace upon the USA that hardly has a parallel.
Also you seem surprised she is a second-generation Korean. I am not surprised. There are many cases like her.
Asians in general, and women in general, tend to be responsibility evaders by nature. (Actually with East Asians, it's an important part of their culture.) This leads to many cases of hypocrisy.
The other thing is, status-seeking, which ties with overt and aggressive pro-Womeness views in her circles (Madison, Wisc.).
She thinks (says) whites are evil but married a white man. This would be baffling to a Martian sociologist just arriving on Earth, if it weren't so common!
