Scott Bessent on the Somalian Scorpions

Scott Bessent is President Trump-47's Treasury Secretary. I just wanted to look up his age, 63 it is, on his wiki page, and man, did I learn more than I wanted to know. This guy is openly gay, they say, with 2 surrogate kids "with" some guy, he used to work for George Soros, right during the time of Soros' crashing the British Pound in 1992. He has supported politicians all over the map, from the Hildabeast and Øb☭ma to Juan McAmnesty to Trump (with some BIG BUCKS). His South Carolina Low Country family background is something else too.

I just wanted to comment first on Mr. Bessent's LOOKING like a Treasury Secretary, what with that slicked-back partially-gray hair, nice suit, and the glasses. Most people don't need to wear glasses now, so that's probably for the look. I suppose he should, but I appreciated in his interview by Chris Rufo below that he doesn't TALK like an old time money man. Going back a few years, I don't think someone of the stature of a Cabinet Secretary would have brought up the famed scorpion parable ("it's in my nature") as applied to any certain group of people. It'd have been too Politically Incorrect. This guy Bessent sounds like he's been reading Steve Sailer and/or some of his commenters.

I think this whole 18 minute interview is worth watching, but I've set it to run for less than half a minute.

What you might enjoy here is the short story of the double-grifting by one Somalian that Chris Rufo or someone else in some "round table" meeting had brought up earlier.

Holy cow, these people are corrupt! It may have behooved those nice Minnesotan "frogs" to have learned about these Somalian scorpions long before they'd multiplied to 100,000 in their State. The old Minnesotans were too nice to have been the frogs even. We're gonna need a bigger parable...

PS: Many readers will likely know, but this Chris Rufo has his Rufo and Lomez podcast, the same Lomez that is Mr. Steve Sailer's publisher. He (Rufo) is pretty big. I'm glad to see these new journalists getting access to the big wigs.

PS: "Secs of treasury and presidents of the federal reserve buy their spectacles from the same optometrist." Haha, it's probably a little shop in an alcove in the East Wing (wait, is it still there?) where you can use your US Gov't scrip to by stuff.

Yes, the glasses look remarkable alike. I guess the public would not appreciate a Treasury Secretary in a tie-died shirt and sandals, though I think that would be this Scott Bessent's style were it up to him.

PS: Hello Dieter! Thanks for writing in. I went to your X but could not LIKE or reply because I'm not a "member".

Personally, I think Mr. Sailer's very short comments interspersed within that long P.J> O'Rourke excerpt were kind of strange. He does that a lot, pointing out things about celebrities. I don't care too much about said celebrities, though I do understand the connections you mentioned. I'm more of a "shut up and sing" type, haha.

Anyway, but Mr. Sailer's writing style has some P.J. O'Rourke in it.

Also, about writing all the R.I.P.s, iSteve knows a lot of Rock music, though his likes don't totally overlap with mine. These "Rockers" are getting to an age at which Mr. Sailer might be too busy writing R.I.P.s to eat or go to the bathroom. (I guess one can multi-task...)

The P. J. O'Rourke piece is great about Somalia is great! - Love it.
Steve Sailer is a subdued version of P. J. O'Rourke.
Think of Ralph Towne rand Kweith Richards - botjh gitarrists...

I worte about the very post in which Steve referrred to O''Rourke piece on X - - - my post goes like this:

Steve Sailer, P. J. O'Rourke, David Bowie, Somalia, Super-Model Imam Mohamed Abdulmajid

Patricia Kaas' best Alb'm

George Harrison / The Beatles

and Statler and Walldorf - ehhhh: Horkheimer / Adorno in a hidden quote about the Message in a Bottle - (oh no: They were no Sting fans - quite the contrary!) - But the hidden quote is real.

Patricia Kaas in the fabuplous song "Hotel Normandie" on her even fubulousser alb'm

Je Te Dites Vous (one of the best ever) -

Here it comes- from Steve Sailer's Substack in which he features a terribly fabulous piece by the great Peter J. O'Rourke - about Somalia - - in which he makes a remark about the super-model Imam - the late David Bowie's wife - who was born in Somalia - -

Now - "Here Comes the Sun" - - in the comments-section of Steve's blog, that is:

A commenter writes:
"Wow is it ten years since David Bowie died? Hard to believe."

Steve Sailer replies: "If I live long enough, I ought to be able to make a living off writing RIPs for all the amazing personalities of my lifetime."

Good Luck Steve! - And Cheers to ya! - for 2026!

kinda like Somalian vibes in this metal artwork of René Acht from 1975 - a local sculptor whom I happend to know

PS: A $2,500 windshield! I can believe it though, SafeNow, as I know there are gadgets and electronics embedded everywhere. Only 12 years ago, it was $250, except the shop inflated it to $500 because it was “FREE!” That is, the State mandated that insurance companies had to fully cover replacement windshields. Hey, there’s no free lunch.

Right, the Somalian culture is scorpionesque. (haha, nice term) Culture is downstream from genetics or vice versa, yep. Steve Sailer had a post recently with basically one long excerpt of possibly the whole chapter in a P.J. O’Rourke book (I remember reading it, but not all the details in the excerpt) called “All the Trouble in the World”. It was about Somalia and Somalians back before nary a one came here. I think I’ll paste in the whole thing here too. Steve Sailer has a little bit of P.J. O’Rourke in him, IMO.

PS: He looks like a happy scorpion, Adam. I like it.

As for your wife’s German mobile, yeah, it could have been much worse. I had a 2” diameter branch come down, crack the windshield, and knock the inside RV mirror down to where its glass cracked. (Nah, I couldn’t get anyone to sell me the piece of glass, had to get a new unit.) I thought, imagine if it had been one of the 1 1/2 FOOT diameter branches that were just as high up. End of vehicle, I guess, as I didn’t have the insurance that would cover it. Trees are great, but sometimes they gotta go. That one did. It wasn’t easy for me.

I really suck at body work, and anything that takes an artistic touch like that. I hope it works out, even if you have to paint it yourself.

We need a new bumper cover for one vehicle, my own fault and a story I don’t want to tell now. I got a used one from a place 150 miles away, but it’s not the same color. One shop wants $350 to paint it. I was ready to buy a couple of spray cans… I know, I know! But then this once guy out in the country said he’ll do it for $150. Amazing. I like the jobs the guy did before. On one of them my car mechanic friend said “nah, he didn’t blend it well right here, see?” No, I didn’t see, though I really tried to see. If I can’t even see what’s supposedly not perfect, I don’t care. Anyway, I’ll get the part to the guy tomorrow - if he wants a color sample, I will simply break off a piece of the old bumper cover that’s still “attached” to the car. High speed duct tape, my friends.

PS
The studies of twins consistently proved that personality is partly genetic - - that is, in their nature. 50% genetic, or thereabouts. In the case of the Somalians, due to their profound non-assimilation it seems safe to say that the NON-genetic component is also scorpionesque.

Mr. Adam Smith, I am sorry about the wind-tree-branch car dent. I understand your pain, because here in California, a common damaged-car event is a cracked windshield caused by stones falling off a gardener’s “good enough”pickup. This situation can be very expensive because these days windshields are “smart” with all sorts of electrical connections, and so the windshield replacement can be a $2500 event. I long for the good-old days when windshields were stupid, and PEOPLE were smart.

PS: Greetings, Mr. Alarmist!

Thanks for the compliment and for your kind message a couple clicks back. I hope you and Mrs. Alarmist enjoyed your time in sunny Florida and had a nice comfy trip.

All is well here, but winter has finally arrived. I brought the rest of the plants inside the other day and it's getting so consistently cold at night that I might/should get the heated bucket out for the kitties so they can have some non-frozen water 24/7. (I bumped the thermostat in their house up to 74° so they can stay nice and toasty when it is 20° at night. So far so good.)

I did, sadly, have a fairly large(ish) tree branch fall from the sky in a wind storm about a week ago that left a nice (but not 𝑡𝑜𝑜 bad) dent in the fender of Mrs. Smith's car. Fortunately, it didn't land on the windshield or anything like that, so it isn't an emergency or a 𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑡 repair. Her car needs a little minor paint work anyway, so I guess this is the year I'll address it. (W210s are a bit notorious for getting a little rust in a few places. In her case, it is around the hood emblem and a little bit where the radiator support meets the frame.)

I've thought about learning how to do "paintless dent repair" for some time now but haven't had the opportunity. This repair looks like it might be a good candidate for such things. (I guess we'll find out in a couple months.) Alternatively, there is a paint shop here in town that does good work, so I might have him take care of it.(?) (I should probably get an estimate either way, just out of curiosity. It's been many years since I've asked anyone for an estimate for paint work and it would be good to know what the going rate is for this kind of repair. If he comes in too high, I'll just have to get my paint gun out.)

So yeah. That's about it from sunny Dahlonega.
I hope you have a great evening and an even better tomorrow.

Cheers to a wonderful evening, Mr. Alarmist! ☮️

Well drawn, Mr. Smith!

@MrMod, yeah, he worked for Soros. He probably engineered the trades that broke the BoE way back on Black Wednesday. Who better to take on the Soros machine and its thousands of henchmen/nodes.
