Oddity Central reported in late September Man Gets Head Stuck in Traffic Light After Crashing into It. In the excerpt below, I stripped out location information to protect this individual from embarrassment, but I'll include it later.
... a young man driving an electric scooter crashed into a temporary traffic light.... Following the impact, the man’s head somehow became stuck inside the traffic light, and firefighters were called to free him from the unusual cage. That was easier said than done, however, as even the first responders spent around 40 minutes cutting away at the metal casing to safely release the man’s head. The man was then taken to a local hospital and made a full recovery,That yellow-painted pole had to have been vertical with the light on top, but then how would the guy's scooter not have knocked it over first? How did his head get in there? Maybe he hit something on the road first and flew off his scooter head first into the signaling device.
I'm overthinking this one. No matter, these things should be placed out of the way, so I'd be seeing red too right now if I had my head stuck in one for 40 minutes. Who green-lighted the project to begin with? Cops were not mentioned in this story, and after what this guy had been through it'd have been heartless to ticket him. Still, as a cop would tell you, he did blow right through that red light - 4 points!
Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. This incident happened in Chengdu, China. The man was Chinese. So, listen, after reading this, I don't want to hear a thing from ANY Chinese person EVER again about stupidity in America!
A song came to mind.
Friday night, I'm going nowhere.
All the lights are changing, green to red.

Saturday, I'm running wild,
and all the lights are changing, red to green.
That's Babylon by British musician David Grey from 1999. It's the only song I know by him. For some reason I liked it much better back in that day. Maybe that's because this is the first time I'd seen the video, which is not so good. It took out what the song was about from my imagination. It's got a good melody though.
That's it. More stupidity is coming Monday.

Afternoon, all …
The regulator called this a preventable tragedy… I’d call it natural selection:
“Rail firm is fined £1million over death of woman who was killed by a tree branch while sticking her head out of an open train window at 75mph”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15161167/Rail-firm-fined-1million-death.html
The problem with the world is that they are trying to make it safe for the stupid.

PS: Scooter Bro, haha! If he were an American, at least back in my day, we'd have been pretty sure that he had been busted for drunk driving. Nobody older than 13 would get caught dead riding a motor scooter. May as well use the riding lawn mower... to get to the liquor store. It was the 1970s, '80s... it was a different time, you understand ...

PS: I was about to compare this Chinese gentleman with a generic Florida Man too, M.
Did his head go through the lens? I wouldn't think he had a helmet on, just cause, China, but that would have helped him power through the lens. What a headache, either way...
I figure the lenses are plastic now, so I don't know. There's only so much room inside those things, but maybe you're right. I have a 3-light traffic signal in my attic. It came down due to a screw-up too (got broken, and the city didn't want it), but not due to some guy on a scooter. It was a truck with it's boom too high, IIRC.
My one is also cast/molded? aluminum and thick aluminum sheet. The lenses are glass, except maybe one. I went ahead and bought, I think, the red light, just so it would look nice. I think the bulbs were 100W. It's one of the smaller ones for an in-town 2-lane/2-lane intersecton.

PS: SafeNow, I think that was it, but let me look later on for the occurrence of those words, unless you can point me to the specific post. If it was about the immigration invasion, that makes sense.
BTW, I've left so many "posts coming" behind, it's not funny any more. I may have to search for "further post", "another post coming", etc. in the dBase. I may dig up important posts from events of '19, haha.

Got his head stuck as a result of crashing into it?
Pull the other one. There was a lot more interaction involved there. Probably something on the order of "Hey, I can fiddle with the settings so I get shorter red lights..."
Florida Man, even though this was in China. I wonder if there's a similar state/province there?

Mr. Moderator, about a month ago, on Unz, you wrote that you are more of an optimist than I am about the country’s prospects. You then said that you would elaborate. I assumed you meant that the future elaboration would occur on Peak Stupidity. Well, I realize that since then you have been busy with so many great posts….thank you for those! But still…will I, and your other Peaksters, ever get a “reasons for optimism” post? Lately, you have enumerated many of the terrific things Trump has said and done. Perhaps that constitutes, implicitly, the “reasons for optimism” elaboration. Thank you, and sorry if I sound like an entitled Peakster..it is your website and you can write whatever and whenever you wish.

How pleasing it would be if a metaphor is at work. Genre: Movie scenes in which the gruesome fate has been specifically earned by the victim, vs. those where the violence is random, disproportionate, unfair. Here, the metaphor would say, see, the victim was indeed being appropriately punished, because his character flaw in life was that he never knew when to go ahead, when to stop, and when to be alert for changing circumstances. Okay, probably there is no connection, but it would be cooler if a screenwriter in the sky said Let the punishment fit the crime.
