I've been putting off this post for a couple of days. Normally Peak Stupidity has been known, at least by me, to have posts with overly long introductions. This time I'll get to the point right away, with details after that.

I'll have to quit writing here. It may be for good, but, the way I think I'll miss it, perhaps it'll be a hiatus only. This is not due to my being tired of documenting stupidity but due to a promise I made. I made a promise to God, well Jesus in particular. The deadline was end-o-August-bidness-month.

Why? Well, see, over a decade ago I had a major health problem that I'd gotten fixed. There were and are no guarantees though, and last month I felt the symptoms coming back just as they felt years ago. I'm not sure this could have been fixed this time around either.

Readers know that Peak Stupidity only touches the subject of religion lightly, but I'll state here that I prayed about this problem and promised I'd lay off things that distracted me from appreciating life itself. (More on this re: the blog shortly.) I then recovered from this problem miraculously within a couple of weeks. I kid you not, it was from as bad as it was right before I got treated years ago to back to normal. Note that there were no doctors involved in any of this recent deal, but this is the kind of thing I can measure very easily. Feels good, man! I need to STAY thankful

You'd think this post would be unnecessary, and I should keep on keeping on, blogging.

Why is this blog a problem for me to continue, to where I must unburden myself from the posts that might have been... cackle, cackle... -[Please stop! - Executive Editor]? It's not that I spend any effort finding stupidity to write about. I have at least 10 in mind since I passed my deadline, exasperatingly. It's not the writing. It's the keeping up with the world's, and more particularly, America's, problems in order to write posts on stupidity that is somewhat current. Were I to stick to the Curmudgeonry stuff, (see the very 1st post*), of which there is plenty to be found to post on, the reader would be bored in no time. I don't want to come across as a literary Abe Simpson.

I WANT to keep up with the stupidity, as it WILL be coming to a head soon. (As I stated in a humorous fashion on our "About" page, the Financial Stupidity will be the first to peak, hopefully putting the kibosh on much of the rest of it.) It's stressful to keep up with the politics though.

I may have mentioned that I've been following American politics since early on. My Dad, a true Conservative, used to have us watch the 6:30P national news during dinner. (A post on the sheer boredom of the Summer of Watergate (hearings) right at half a century ago was to be coming.**) There was about one decade in there in which I had enough going on but also didn't feel any necessity to keep up with the politics. That was nice. In the long-ago post When did the Feral Government get OUT OF CONTROL? (Part 2)***, I pinned down the year I realized things were headed inexorably in the wrong direction to 1995.

Therefore, that's been almost 30 years now since I've been continuously paying attention to all this. One reason to keep paying attention is that, whether it'll be a real SHTF situation or not, we need to get ready for the near future. However, I've got to let it go for now. I will not be able to quit reading political sites on the web completely, but I'll try my best to get out of this world and think differently.

This is difficult. From the small but great group of commenters here, I know people enjoy reading. It's been steady for some years - my marketing methods slim (don't want to explain this right now - maybe later) to none - but the steady 3-5 thousand unique visitors, 8-15 thousand visits, and 30-45 thousand page views monthly mean that there are lots more people who like reading here. (Some of the visits and page views may solitary hits, but, from what I've seen with referrals and such, I believe most are by regulars.)

I wanted to have a lot more fun with Kameleon and her Commie 1st mate, Mr. Walz. Whatever I can do for the election would make me feel better, such as writing here****. Of those 10 or more new posts already in mind, 3 might have been Curmudgeonry ones, 3 or 4 on current political stupidity, and the rest general polemic rants. Examples:

1) Is some of the retail decay due to about everything moving on-line, and can one get used to buying that way? I cannot see how it's better. (I was glad just to find a female-to-female coax connector - would have been easy 10 years ago.)

2) I got off the Gateway Pundit after only 1/2 a year due to this, but it's ubiquitous. There are articles all over the web telling us that so-and-so "destroyed" so-and-so, like this is big news, but it was all nothing but TV talking-head talks or clever tweets. (That'll show 'em! Now, the problem is fix ... uhhhh.) Talk is not action. Young people don't seem to get this.

Well, there's no point if I'm not going to write them, but more of this keeps coming to mind. The reason Peak Stupidity had a dozen posts last week is just this: More than half were posts I'd been meaning to write for a while - this list is long - and others popped up, and, hey, it's nice I have a place to rant about it all.

I regret not having gotten to the gist of my reasoning that, African caveat notwithstanding, the fertility "crisis" is not a crisis. It's something that would (were there REAL borders around our lands) solve itself and produce a better equilibrium of population very nicely. This opinion seems to be contrary to that of most pundits. Next, I wanted to review Strauss & Howe's 2 books (they really go together) Generations and The Fourth Turning. Then there were the posts in mind regarding party election results over the last 100 years. For 6 or 7 years now, I've meant to write about Biblical references in Grateful Dead lyrics. There's loads more I'm forgetting at the moment, including thousands of good songs that ought to have been on the site.

I don't like this at all, but a deal is indeed a deal, especially with this guy. Let me paste in a few items that would have been posts, for the road, and afterwards I'll write something about the fate of this site.

I was responsible for arranging the Customs & Immigration inspection for a small plane arriving into Victoria, BC, Canada*****. Before the internet was big, the phone-based system was called CanPass. The lady on the other end sounded nice. I gave her the full names and birth dates of the passengers. Then, the conversation went this way (exact phrasing):

"OK, do you have any tobacco?"
"No."
"Do you have any alcohol?"
"No."
"Do you have any guns?"
"Oh yeah, I have a lot of guns... but I won't bring any to Canada."

You'd think I'd proclaimed full-out Jihad against the City of Victoria there. She went on and on! I made it clear that, no, I wouldn't bring any guns, so what's the problem?

Keep in mind, as per our post Build the Wall! Employ assholes in the Customs Hall!, it's the immigration people that should be tough. I guess this lady was both that and customs together. This went on until "Hey, look, you're running me out of my roaming minutes." (If you don't understand that, you're a younger reader or maybe you're Ted Kaczynski.)

When we arrived in Victoria, there she met us - I assumed it was the same lady - to start searching all over the plane. She was looking back behind a bulkhead where cables and the battery are. Finally, I said, "Listen, we've got guns in America because we're a free country, OK?" "Hey Canada's a free country too!" "Whatever, we gotta go to dinner." That was about it for the evening with Miss Victoria Customs and Immigration.

After most of a decade of being sick of the site, due to on-screen advertising mayhem, I've been reading ZeroHedge fairly frequently, for about a month. ZH linked to the CNBC article with the headline shown above.

I'm not really into the ZeroHedge type writing about "the quarterly conference call didn't go well" and "they missed on these targets", etc. I don't need that. When I see that Dollar store customers are "financially constrained", well, if I were a finance man, working in one of those tall buildings in which the windows still open... there'd be no small chance I'd resemble a Head East album title when found in the morning.

I mean, I remember a decade ago on ZH that either Mr. "Durden" or his commenters noted that the dollar stores are for Americans who can't afford to go to Wal-Mart. In fact, Dollar General customers see Wal-Mart as Target customers see Neiman Marcus. They get dressed up special to go to Wal-Mart, as has been well documented.

How financially constrained must one be to have been cutting back on trips to Dollar General? A lot, and that goes for a lot of Americans!

Somewhat related, I just today received a piece of junk mail that said on the outside "SURVIVING RETIREMENT". Uhhh, no, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it doesn't work like that.

This O/T ZeroHedge comment gave me a good laugh. It's fitting, what with Inflation being one our niche topics here. By one AsAbove, it appeared under an article of a few days ago, "Not The Type Of Character You Want" In High Office - Tim Walz's Brother Slams VP Candidate.
Inflation is already so bad that...

How bad is it?!
[my addition there]

My neighbor got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.

CEOs are now playing miniature golf.

Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.

I saw a Mormon with only one wife.

McDonald's is selling the 1/4 ouncer.

Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America.

Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names.

A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico.

A picture is now only worth 200 words.

When Bill and Hillary travel together, they now have to share a room.

The Treasure Island casino in Las Vegas is now managed by Somali pirates.

Called to get Blue Book Value on my car. They asked if the gas tank was full or empty.

I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc, I called the Suicide Hotline. I got a call center in Afghanistan, and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.
Thank you, thank you. They'll be there all week. Sadly, I gotta quit for some time....

OK, look, it's been a great ride, on the ramp up to Peak Stupidity. The "fun" part of this coaster is to come.

As per my writing above, I didn't stop posting just now due to a well-defined peak in stupidity that would obviate the need for PeakStupidity.com. However, you've seen the piece of work shown here on video. They, the Regime Establishment, that would be, do try hard to keep her from being required (for some odd reason) to open her mouth.

Shit happens though. Look, Affirmative Action, as wrong as it is, was based on good intentions. While screwing the White man, it did help lift up some Black! folk here and there. This allegedly-Black! lady shown below has received WAY WAY too big a dose of the D.I.E. initiative that is AA on steroids. I could see if she'd gotten up to lead of the Title Renewal Dept., maybe even at the big office in downtown San Francisco, albeit, that would still be a stretch.

This is 1 of 2 of the major candidates for the US Presidential election of 2024 though. Look at this, and tell me we are not very very close to Peak Stupidity:

We just gotta be! Even scientific notation won't cover it now.
*****************************************

*****************************************
Let's get serious in this section. If I don't get back on here, I hope everyone else does not need any advice from me on how to get ready for what's coming. I'm not the best prepper in the world, but we are getting better (the family). I would have also liked to have reported on Uruguay and another location, but then, I really think we'll make our stand here. We've got our own shooting range, something that would be probably impossible most other countries in the world. It's time to get more self-sufficient, especially financially.

People have a reason to scoff at Americans and their 25 y/o keyboard warrior cries of "MOLON LABE!" For example, nothing much has happened after thousands of Political Prisoners have been taken. However, I think Americans will get their 2nd-Amendment footings when both things get financially worse and Totalitarianism gets even more in our faces. Our enemies in/from the Regime are no longer concerned that we may see them as Communists, Globalist, Orwellian Totalitarians, or some combination thereof. They think they have us licked. I believe they will be proven wrong.

Within a few months, some money will be due - the hosting costs much more than the URL (yeah, a rip-off at this point, IMO), but I'm pretty sure I'll renew to keep the site up. Perhaps I'll put up a meme now and then. When one comes to you, you can't just waste it, right?

I thank all of the regular Peak Stupidity readers. It's been over 7 1/2 years (cranked up just after Thanksgiving of '16). It's made me happy to know I've informed, but hopefully at least entertained, a few thousand people regularly. I want to thank the regular commenters above and beyond that for letting me see this in writing.

I may have missed a few very irregular commenters (sorry - there's medicine for that), but anyway, thank you so much for composing a great comment section!

What about the Peak Stupidity Book Club that Adam Smith has been so helpful with (along with lots of other help to me and other commenters)? It wouldn't be hard for me to at least get the posts under that "name" and put the book titles and URLs in a table. I may still do that.

The site will stay up for a good long while. It won't be current, but for anyone who wants to read, we've got 3129 posts, including this one. New readers, click on "Topic Keys", find a few you might like, and you could be here for hours on end. Enjoy!

Whewwww! Heckuva post there, but I didn't want this to end. We'll see.

PS: [Added 09/06] Also, thanks to all the readers over the years for putting up the workings, and lacks-thereof, of this site. That there's no search feature is probably the worst, but also the need for scrolling, and the "keep it simple but stupid(?)" comment area. I could see where new readers might have just clicked on away immediately - I would do the same, probably. I explained more here very recently. If I were to get back, a big revamp of the software would have to come first. Anyway, again, goodbye and good wishes!

* BTW, I am even more certain at this point that, no, it's not that I'm a curmudgeon by the common definition, just sick of new stuff. New stuff is really getting stupider by the version.

** My Dad was great in keeping us off the TV until well into our teens. That early-on Summer of George Woodward and Bernstein (and let's not forget the Hildabeast too! She was fired though, after a while. Back to baking cookies... we wish!) was very helpful to that cause.

*** Part 1

**** To keep my writing skills up, at least I've got about 8 Donald Trump, Lara Trump, and RN Committee junk mailings with their postage-paid envelopes, and I'm having fun composing letters telling them all what Trump better do if he wants a red cent from me - I think I'll be keeping that extra cash, the way it's been going. I'd have loved to publish these here too!

***** To clear up possible confusion here, that small city is on Vancouver Island, to the west, but mostly south, across the water from the mainland of British Columbia, where the big city of Vancouver sits. Vancouver is NOT on Vancouver Island. To make it even more fun, the Washington State city of Vancouver is down across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. (Great deal: Live there so you pay no income tax, but shop in Portland, so you pay no sales tax.)

PS: John Derbyshire is a really good writer, Mr. Hail. I don't know if I could put various would-be individual blog posts together tied so neatly as he does in his monthly diaries.*

It's been relaxing not writing, but then the other side of it is that I come upon things at least a few times daily that would make great blog posts. It irks me not to write about them. So, I don't know.

I didn't enjoy writing the book reviews as much as other posts, though I do think they can be helpful. I would have to avoid the 3 or even 6! part (that's not 6-factorial, just 6 part!!) ones, the latter number such as with Lionel Shriver's "The Mandibles". That's not the way you do book reviews. Also helpful would be putting the library, a list, really, of on-line books as searched up by Adam Smith on here. I haven't forgotten about that - I've just not even turned on the computer I use to more quickly do things on the database in maybe 3 weeks.

So, thanks for the thoughts and compliments, Mr. Hail. I'm not sure how this is gonna go still. With election time in under 4 weeks and my having missed blogging during the '16 one by a month, I ought to put up at least some memes. I have one coming in a few minutes, in fact.

Have a good evening, Mr. Hail.

* BTW, since VDare is not publishing anything, do you read anything from him other than the few things (the "diaries", I guess) that appear on The Unz Review from him? I suppose he puts articles up on his own website, johnderbyshire.com.

PS

We have now reached the five-week mark of the apparent announcement of the closing up of the Peak Stupidity shop.

Two new ideas occur to me, which I feel compelled to post here as food for thought.

(1.) What about a John Derbyshire-style once-a-month compendium? I refer to his "Monthly Diary" series, which are basically little blog posts all loosely tied together and published at the same time.

The lightning pace at which this blog usually moved -- at a rate, I believe, of more than one separate post per day most of the time -- would end up looking different. But it could still achieve the highlights using a one-a-month or a "fortnightly" model. "The Past Month in Stupidity."

John Derbyshire probably keeps his monthly "diary" material as a rolling draft-file, maybe even just loose notes, and polishes it up and publishes around the same time each month. Reviewing the month then completed, it also frees itself from the "twenty-four hour news cycle" and the worst inanities of social-media pseudo-reality (neither of which problems has ever been a problem, necessarily, for PS; but many others have fallen victim). The Derb "diary" posts end up being up to a few thousand words each, but are really a dozen or more relatively small posts that are linked together lightly in that format. This is also great for occasional readers, and is a lot less stress on Mr. Derb than a "multiple posts a week" model.

I'd love to see Peak Stupidity continue in this kind of way, if the idea is compatible with other factors and family and health and time and all else under the Sun.

-

Idea 2. (not mutually exclusive with Idea 1.) Do occasional book-reviews, which I detect was a long-running goal of PS anyway, but otherwise avoid making regular content.

Have you heard about the book by Jason Kessler, the organizer of the Charlottesville 2017 rally that has become such a part of political-legend? That is just the kind of book that all would benefit from seeing reviewed. And a thousand others.

I am a believer in books are an antidote to stupidity. True books and not TikTok-promoted fluff books with cute cover-art and awful contents. Some of the best of PS material has always been the book-reviews and the discussions about them, and the book-recommendations that flow forth, from people like Mr. Kief, whose perspective is that of a German intellectual and therefore also a Stupidity-antidote all his own...

PS: Oh, about the zillion words, if not ideas, you made me think of the actual number: The database is up near 30 MBytes - that includes comments and the text of the posts. With 1 byte per character, let's say 6 or 7 chars per word, we've got around 4 or 5 million words to describe Peak Stupidity all up in here. Should be enough ...

PS: Hello, Peter. I first remember you from your "PeterIke's Law" on dot-Indian immigration in the Unz Review iSteve threads. I'm glad you liked reading here too.

I think that's good advice to get back into the real world - hobbies and real books, for example. As for X-twitter, boy, that'd have been even worse for me as far as time wasted and stress too. Your letting x get rid of your account for you reminds me of an unincorporation long ago. I would have had to pay a lawyer 50 or 100 bucks, but since I hadn't paid the taxes, the State did the job for me. Good on you for staying off it. (I suppose if you change your mind, you can start with a different protonmail or whatever to start a new one - I know you won't last too long though. ;-}

That's my take too, that a Trump win, overcoming massive vote-theft efforts as it would have to, would be just a 4 year reprieve. He's not stopping the financial train wreck (and he doesn't even see it coming, but even if he did), but the public's confidence in things holding together and not going full Commie would increase.

I guess to shut this one down they'd have to go as far as forcing the internet people (ICANN, is it still? I don't know) to jerk away the name from DNS servers. It's not like I depend on google et al. I figure our readers are smart enough to just type shit into the text area up top if they have to. It'd be interesting ...

See you around then, Peter, or on the other side, as they say.

Wow. A sad moment. Even though I haven't been around that much lately, I've always enjoyed this site and its unique take on events.("Events, dear boy, events.")

I was surprised to find myself on the top posters list, but pleased that I was. You built a small but mighty community here of (mostly) like-minded folks. But I can totally get needing to step back. I got rid of my X account (well they got rid of it for me) and I feel better not ranting at people there. There are SO MANY IDIOTS, and the reality is you never change a single person's mind by ranting at them on X or anywhere else. So why get your dander up?

It's better to step away. Read some good books (for fiction, stick to works written before 1940). Go fishin', work on hobbies (or start a new one). Nothing we can do will change the course of events anyway. If Trump beats the steal, maybe America survives, kind of. If Harris wins, as is likely, I'm convinced it's going to unleash a very dark time. Certainly, free speech islands like Peak Stupidity will be shut down very quickly anyway, so might as well go now!

Thank you for creating what you did and sharing your zillion words and ideas. Stay well.

PS: Nobody thought of that, Fred? That's pretty good, then. I can only guess that it was Kamela's cackling that got you thinking along these lines.

Now, if someone could put the voices to it, or at least draw or get AI to make a nice meme.

I realize your east is for east coast and west for west coast, but one could also switch them around, east for Kamela's dot-Indian origins and west for the Hildabeast's American origins (at least that's where the rock she crawled out from was located). Whatever works best. The Wicked Witch of the East didn't have much part in the movie - cannot remember the books. (There were a bunch, for those who liked reading in their childhoods...)

If you or someone, not naming names here, comes up with something, please put a link in here!

Oh, so Trump would be like Dorothy, but he's no "dorothy", haha. (A gay thing, that I don't really see much.) Who would Trump be as a best fit? I'd say the Scarecrow - "If I only had a brain." fits him the closest, but that's a little harsh.

We haven't written too much about him - I think 2 posts, one of which had a hour and 40 minute video of a chat between him and Camille Paglia. PS

Today's news of the latest Trump assassination attempt has an abundant supply of Stupidity.

In 2022 the man, Ryan Routh (said to be b.1966 in North Carolina but long active as a hard-left character in Hawaii), was in Ukraine trying to bring in foreigners to fight. There is also said to be involvement in smuggling dissident Afghans to fight in some of the conflicts around the world.

Yes--- there are a lot of indications that the man was an intelligence agency asset of some kind. Not many who are completely unconnected, solo actors would do anything like the things he did, wouldn't know how or where to start, and wouldn't get far if they showed up and tried to do such things absent any patron-network or supervision or "handlers." But the man was promoted in the U.S. media and met Congress members to brief them on the Ukraine war.

The question of how he knew the location Trump would be at, during his Sunday golf game, =points to the possibility of insider info. Someone in the Trump world may have been feeding the info to a mutual "handler" who then gave the directive to this guy. That the latest assassination attempt was not a success may indicate the mole in the Trump security-world was not himself (or herself!) high-ranking enough to actually get the evil deed accomplished with the ruthlessness with which, e.g., Putin or Zelensky or Israel kill off opponents. And that elements of the security detail who were not "in on it" spotted the shooter and stopped the attempt.

Peak Stupidity's ongoing "Stupid or Evil" discussion raises its head.

I didn't write about the cussword in that post, but some details came back to me, and then more from that post just now. Boy, that was right in the thick of it - mid November of '20.

I'll go to the dBase maybe and find that other post - not very important... unless you do get run over for walking with the traffic at your back.

I know this personally because the devil himself taught me how they work. (And they do work.)

(How many people can say they not only looked the devil square in his eyes, (and lived to tell the tale!) but also had the devil teach him how the dowsing rods work?)

PS: Mr. Anon, I didn't mean to imply that I was happy about the PanicFest just due to views here. It did give me lots to write about though.

Something about it has me thinking of something from yesterday or the day before. I will need to write a blog post in here, I guess. ;-'

***************************************
I imagine I mentioned this incident, but I won't find the post now. Back during the worst of the mask wearing, right after the kids' school got back in session, I had it out with this busybody Brit Mom of 4 kids not named Karen. (That's all I remember of her name - it's not Karen.) Not that there's anything wrong with that, being British, except in this case, yeah, there was - her prissy accent made it all the more annoying.

Before I left the school area, I threw my stupid blue medical mask into a sticker bush. Now, I'm not generally a litterer. I was taught by my parents not to back when the other kids through their Coke cans out the car windows as a habit. Anyway, the lady comes over to try to get me to pick it up. I said some words, not at her, but about the whole thing that had me apologizing to the Assistant TO the Principal next time. He was right, as that cussing was in front of the kids, but as far as picking up the mask, no go. Do I look like a HazMat team to you people?

After that time, the lady talked to me again about my running the stop signs to/from school on my bike. There were intersections with enough of a view so that it was safe - been riding for a long, long time. Same thing - I was having none of her lecture. "Sorry, you're not gonna get me to change anything." and possibly "I feel the need for speed." were what I told her.

Now, another post I won't look for here right now was about people that don't seem to have learned a very simple thing we knew around Kindergarten years - unless their are sidewalks, you walk on the left side of the road, so you can see the traffic coming nearest to you.

This was a narrow road, and this lady was walking on the right side, about 3 feet on the road from the right edge, without so much as glancing back. The only things she had going for her were that the traffic is slow (25-35 mph) and that I was not on my phone like others might be.

I should have slammed on the horn after I got past her. (From my friend's habits, I see that this scares people the most!) As it was, I gave her plenty of room, but next time, I may just ask her if she missed the instructions during Kindergarten, or maybe she's still in British mode.

Imagine getting a lesson about safety from a wrong-way walking Kung Flu Panicker like this. Life's too short.

Thanks, Mr. Anon. Yeah, that Kung Flu Panic time was when I felt I was doing the most good by writing. The numbers were well up then - I'll have to look and see, but I think maybe 75 or 100% higher than during the last couple of years (on average). I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, "collegial" is a good word. We didn't have any angry arguments here since, well, I didn't start any. ;-}. I had mellowed out quite a bit on TUR before I quit writing there, but a few of the commenters just peed me off continually over the years. (That is not even counting during the Kung Flu time.)

PS: That's good to read about, Mr. Hail. Since I don't participate in X-twitter, other than seeing videos that won't play elsewhere, I have no idea about any of this. As a separate issue, but regarding twitter, I do remember that VDare had pointed out one of my posts (https://www.peakstupidity.com/index.php?post=2009 - - "OK, Some (V)Dare Call it Communism"* because I praised some writers there for using that term. Unfortunately, Mr. Brimelow then linked to a Peak Stupidity tweet acct. - no me. I let them know.

That brings me to a point that I will add onto the bottom of this post. Thank you all readers for putting up with the way this site works. Again, I got into the writing and figured I'd fix up the workings of the site only when I took a break from writing.

I hope you will keep up your site. I'll keep checking for new posts there.

-- On Peak Stupidity's influence --

One thing I've noticed, in occasionally linking to Peak Stupidity on twitter, is lots of people not normally accustomed to commenting will nevertheless read and engage substantially with the texts (posts and comment-discussions), and then comment elsewhere.

The comment-activity Peak Stupidity community has seen over the past few years has to be multiplied many times over, to account for this. To a great extent I have to keep this in mind, too, with HailToYou.wordpress.com.

Since it got running in 2011, many times I thought of giving up "Hail To You" entirely, mainly after the evident suppression of it by Big Tech in the late 2010s, which continues. Wordpress as a host is also considered old-fashioned now. Somehow I've never quite given up on it. The content is too long-form to accumulate the kind of community that Peak Stupidity has gotten, but I know it's had some influence even in the Big Tech suppression era.

PS: Fred the Gator: "... I avoid comments by posting long postings that nobody will be able to finish reading" Haha, nice foresight there. I've had some like that too.

BTW, I'll look it up later, but I probably had only the first few comments from friends and then a dozen or less random ones, besides the SPAM until maybe a couple of years running.

Thanks, Possumman and Old Soldier. Not to worry, anyone, though I appreciate prayers, but it's like this:

Some incident that would make a great post (would rat me out a bit though AND was almost too ludicrous to believe) brought on that big change with symptoms from long ago. After prayer and this promise with that, I'm telling you, it's all back good, and I don't see that they'll be any change for the worse, other than the normal long-term stuff that happens to us all...

Thanks, though! Again, I'm quitting posting to fulfill a promise, not because I feel bad in any way. (That is, except for forebodings about the stuff coming. I've read Revelation twice and watched a bunch of videos - we'll see!)

PS: Hello J1234, aka, Jim. Thank you for the compliments, especially that of being compared favorably to Mr. Sailer in some respects.

Yeah, OK, folks, it was the VDare conference, not this summer but last. Mr. Hail, I believe, asked me directly whether I went (here or on TUR), and I didn't answer one way or another.

What I remember, Jim, is that even though you told me in person there some info on the band Creedence Clearwater Revival, my bad memory had me forget that as I wrote a post some months later - then I remembered afterwards that we already discussed this.

BTW, that I know the VDare people might make it clear why I tried to get some commenters under iSteve posts to understand the predicament that that the org was/still is, in. It's still hard to fathom why one can't just tell NY to f__k off and get all assets out. There's an explanation though.

Speaking of that group, and in reply to Possumman and others*, it's not a sure thing, but I've been told that VDare does have a good possibility of starting back up. I really don't know any more than that, though I suppose I wouldn't say if I did. They've probably got to be really careful until they extract themselves and whatever $$ they can bring out of the hellhole of New York.

It's very hard to explain to a straight-arrow, former finance guy, one who has lived under rule-of-law his whole life this: You've got to screw with them back. You've got to forego your honesty when it comes to evil people and entities like this.

1) If I knew a divorce was coming, my friends would be gifted with some really nice stuff. I may make a very unlucky trip to Vegas or Atlantic City. I may have had one of those unfortunate boating accidents. Whatever the case, you can tell me all you want that I had lots of assets, your Honor, but I don't know. You get some people to come look. I hope you have better luck than I had in Vegas.

Then, a few years later, thanks, Jim! (Not J1234, just an example). That $20,000 Christmas gift was mighty White of ya'!

I know, rule-of-law, discovery process, whatever, sorry, you won't get the stuff!

2) How about next subpoena, I ask them why they keep asking for the same documents. "I sent them already." "Yes, FedEx (Express, redundancy brought to you by some highly-paid dumbass)" "Yeah, here's the tracking number." (but it's made up too...) "You're typing it in wrong. I'll text it to you again... Come on, quit wasting our time here."

Days go by. They write for more info. You just keep on screwing with them. Not only does it save money on lawyers, but it's fun too!

At some point, you bring up on the phone that this incompetence in demanding items already complied with is a form of harassment. "And we got a black guy here, too, so.... watch it, Buster!"

Oh, yeah, big Marshall Crenshaw fan here. Between you, me, and that other guy, would should have a convention. ;-}

* Peak Stupidity has had a strong anti-invasion bent, with that Topic Key likely still being attached to the most posts. Between the small readership here, VDare, and then iSteve and other places on The Unz Review (as Mr. Unz did kindly feature lots of VDare posts by other authors), this issue connects us to some degree.

PS

This makes me feel sad. However, I've found that in sadness there is often something beautiful, and I'd say that Achmed's immediate and promising relief from symptoms would qualify as that. Just remember, my friend, recovery from an illness is often an up and down (and down and up) process, so be mindful that you aren't alone during the "down" no matter how much it might feel that way at the time. I believe you know that God is always with you, but my prayers are also with you, as I'm sure the prayers of many others are.

I may be out of line in saying this (I hope I'm not...) but I was fortunate enough to have met Achmed in person a while back. I can assure you, he's as witty, clever, gracious and charming in real life as he is here. He's the sort of person, that - once you've met him, you feel like you've known him for a long time. A really good guy and a true gentleman.

I feel connected to the content here, too. Sailer's frequent forays into golf, sports, stats and academia etc. make him kind of tedious at times(IMO.) By contrast, I've lost track of the number of articles I've read where I felt like Achmed was reading my mind with the stance he'd taken or perspective he came from...except that his stance and perspective were a lot more cleverly and eloquently stated than mine ever would've been. All that...AND HE LIKES MARSHALL CRENSHAW, TOO!

I'm really going to miss your online presence (should things go that way) Mr. Moderator, but you're absolutely correct in focusing on the things that matter. Um...we should ALL be doing that! Nevertheless, I hope you change your mind. If you don't, I still might be writing "PS" at the beginning of online comments on the internet for a while. It's a hard habit to break...and it just feels right! Best wishes to you and your family!

PS: Adam, I'm not sure if I related in the comments here, or way back, on TUR, about my friend who realized the same thing about the customs/immigration people. He arrived in Shannon on the way to London and told the gentleman in the best Irish accent* he could that "he'd had a wee too much to drink" and something about the leprechauns. Suddenly, there was nobody in the booth... for 15 minutes or more. Then, some piece of paperwork was lost for a wee while too ...

No, no sense of humor at all. I'd appreciate that more from our guys here if:

1) Half of them weren't foreigners themselves.
2) We had serious control of immigration here.

Yes, we're still more free than Canada, but also this: It was quite a while ago, when I wasn't enamored with the way things were going here, but I kinda meant it then. Saying that now would be a joke for me.

I am looking forward to watching your AI videos. I'm sure I'll have a comment or two.

Yeah, I don't see the need to send that guy money, even if he WERE all of a sudden FOCUSED like a LASER on the invasion (with a deportation plan) and on the other half - stopping the invading of the world. You know, I suppose I could upload my letters to this site - I'm writing them anyway, until I run out of my collection of their postage-paid return envelopes. Same humor - not sure if the people that open these will get them.

It's not gonna happen anyway, an amazing change to where I would at least WANT to send in money. I mean, this promise was not that I'd sent it, but just that they surely aren't getting any now with way this guy is talking. If he magically, miraculously** became a focused strategic thinker (yes, at 78 years old, and don't call me Shirley) I would be so excited, I would send in some cash.

* Maybe that was part of the problem. He was butchering it, haha.

** I really was hoping that that VERY near-death experience he had might change his whole attitude - that it's not all about him. I don't know what he thinks - maybe he doesn't think that it's all about him, but then ... I throw up my hands.

Mike M., thanks for writing in. I am happy to say that, no, I am not at this point plagued with anything. As I wrote, this is something that I can easily measure (during exercise). It was looking bad, but now it's not. The change within 2-3 weeks was really was miraculous, explaining why I'm bailing out of something that I like quite a bit. That was part of the deal, the other (more important) part was to appreciate life more. (Paying attention to stupidity, BS, and evil does not help in this regard either, of course.)

PS: Mr. Hail and Robert, I'm torn between what you 2 have to say here. Can I do the blogging if I don't spend the time following and worrying about politics, even as things are about to come to a head?

Mr. Hail, I didn't mean the Abe Simpson thing with respect to small quantity or short lengths of posts. My point was that if I just write up the curmudeonly stuff - "Look at what happened, or I saw, just now - this place is going to hell fast." (I mean, it does seem to be) - those posts will read like Abe Simpson complaining about everything.

Your idea is pretty good - just allow a couple of days a week to write, but then I don't know if it's a violation of my deal. I will pray about this. Time will tell...

PS

A sad day!

Peak Stupidity is valuable, and valued. I give it high marks as an independent voice. A voice not sucked into the sink-pit of the big players like X/Twitter etc. Thank you for your efforts.

Although it is, naturally, your decision as to what is best for you and your family, I hope you might consider the alternative model you alluded to. Something like this: after taking 'x' period of time "off" from posting/commenting entirely, a commitment to a 'y' post per week limit. At a rate one-fifth or even one-tenth usual output up to now. In cases when it is felt best not to write much, a Sailerian "What do you think?" post might work fine.

It is said that those blogs that upload new posts at specific times known to readers, consistently, are a great way to keep an audience. I don't see why it should be thought of as "coming across as a literary Abe Simpson" to reduce output in that way.

The world would be the lesser without the mighty "PS"!

PS: I went far back for the list.

2 of the dollar store chains are owned by one outfit, but I only know of Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar - not familiar with 99 Cents Only.

I did write a post regarding the 5 & 10's:

"The newest 5 and 10 stores"

The bottom line, or "punchline", as it were, was that "5 & 10" will mean $5 to $10 pretty soon, the way things are going.

PS
Best of luck in whatever your future holds, Achmed. I'll miss you, even though I'm hardly a regular here. (I was amazed to see my name in the middle of your list.)

Note: Dollar General customers aren't any more "financially constrained" than they ever were, they've probably just figured out that DG's prices aren't any better than Walmart's. Now that 99 Cents Only has gone toes up, Dollar Tree is the only one left that will actually save you money.
WHAT SAY YOU? : (PLEASE NOTE: You must type capital PS as the 1st TWO characters in your comment body - for spam avoidance - or the comment will be lost!)
