Give it up already, NY Times!

Seriously?!

I do not willingly read the NY Times! Yet, I realized after clicking that link on yahoo, that that's where this re-panic-pushing story came from. Why'd I click at all then? Good question. Girls in bikinis.

This reminds me of something that I SWEAR I wrote a post on during that first (late) Spring of the Kung Flu PanicFest, which I couldn't find myself! (Perhaps, I just wrote about it in Unz Review comments.) I discussed the fact that the local university chicks in very skimpy outfits, some making Daisy Duke look like a shy Amish woman, were featured in what became a nationwide news photo. The point was: Look at them all milling around! No social distancing. Exposed faces, partial breast exposure, partial rear end exposure, partial EVERYTHING! This must stop!... but, look!

"So LOOK, people! You're gonna get sick doing that! (But look at the bod there, the one with the red shorts!)" Wait, what were they talking about? Around that time, Peak Stupidity compared Kung Flu vs. VD.

OK, Peak Stupidity readers, I don't want to make you click on panic-pushing yahoo stories, much less to the NY Times Therefore I present a zoomed up version to help you out:

No, that picture does NOT appear in the fuller NY Times-lifted yahoo story. It's Kung Flu porn... yeah, pretty much.

PS: "To be a "journalist" you must have a degree in journalism after all." Yes, that's exactly the problem. I've seen Journalism schools, and I've seen journalism majors. (TBH, there was one guy who could have been a good engineer - smart enough - who just liked writing better and went to the Journalism school. He must have had 20 IQ points on the class average. I have no idea what or how he's doing now.)

I hope we don't need the /sarc tags here, but thanks for making sure, M.

"Are there no experienced, jaded White guys with Fedora hats doing the reporting anymore? "

I suspect they all drank themselves to death some time ago. They wouldn't be employable as "journalists" now anyway. To be a "journalist" you must have a degree in journalism after all.

Coming up from the mailroom? What, people actually use mail still?

PS: "Is that supposed to be an American beach ? Where are the land-whales ?" It's another trick-photography deal. Let Steve Sailer explain the wide-angle lens trick.

No, actually, that was one his very good moments of noticing. I guess it's obvious looking that "hey, you can't tell from here how close people are", but he spelled it out and called the Lyin' Press out on this.

PS: Who exactly is tasked with Covid-testing my sewage? I could make it easier for them, and just send in the solids to the lab. "Let's go up to the lab, and see what's on the slab." "Let's not and say we did." (Shades of Rocky Horror.)

Back to Mr. Hail's comment, now that I remember that byline. Yes, it IS like the Common Cold. We may send more men to the moon, but we still can't sure that one. It comes and goes. So will this other Coronavirus.

If I were still drinking, this would be a good time to pick up a ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘’ of Corona. Old joke, sorry...

PS: Hello, Adam, as with Mr. Hail's link, I really didn't want to go to the NY Times site. However, I took a look at your 2 comment screenshots.

My only regret is that I have but one body to give to my Health Czar. - Nathan, now, Natalie Hail, pronouns, xir, xim, zizzer-zazzer-zuzz.

Let me capture NY feeling: There I was, big yellow cable ties around my wrists, with the officer nicely telling me to watch my head as the pulled me out of the cruiser to go into the drug store for my mandated health treatment. They pulled me through the stationary aisle to the pharmacy, where the side of my head was gently slammed on the counter "NEXT! The doughnut shop closes in half an hour!" It felt so nice, that soothing gene therapy. I remember it like it was yesterday.... cause I took another booster yesterday.

That was about it, except they let me use my nose to punch in my phone number so I'd get my Walgreens points.

Do you think the NY Times would keep THAT comment up, Adam?

That npr one was something else too. I really cannot believe they keep on trying with this shit.

PS: That's a long teaser/sub-title, and boy, does it hit all aspects of stupidity.

"You shouldn't have tested." EXACTLY! That was the mantra in '20 for me too. The one time I supposedly got tested was when the doc's office required it (already '22, I think, and a month later they didn't give a rat's hootie). Well, appointments were a month in advance, so what do you do? I'll tell you what you do: Go through the pharmacy drive-through, swipe any old thing (but my wife had put some gel in my nose that I swiped), and just pay the few bucks for this joke. Negative, baby!!

Oh, as far as not testing, this story involved a young lady we were working with out of town. She KNEW positively she had the Kung Flu (all the symptoms), and 3 of us, including her boyfriend told her in no uncertain terms, "Don't get tested!" She had mentioned doing this. "If you test positive, they (the company) will not let you get on a flight to go home for 2 weeks of something!"

She listened, and then a week later I was called up to be told that I worked with someone who had the Covid. (She tested at home, I guess.) Besides having fun with the HR lady re: the Hippo Laws. "Well, I know who it is - her name is ____." "No see, we that's a violation... blah, blah...." As we talked and I indicated that I couldn't give a (same animal's ass) about this thing, I really forgot, and at the end said "Oh, and how's _____ doing?" "I can't tell you! We'll get sued!!! Ahhhhh!" Heh, heh. ... it was all a joke to me then. I think that was already '21.

Corona-nostalgia?

Not many are on the bandwagon anymore.

The Reddit "r/coronavirus" posted the story yesterday but it only got a measly sixty-some comments.

Here is one Panic bitter-ender commenting at the Reddit thread:

i hate humanity so freaking much. 4 years locked away because politicians made medicine political, and now wearing masks can get you targeted for assault and harassment.

Back in the early weeks of 2020, the r/Coronavirus Reddit-forum was, I believe, a major incubator for the Panic.

Here is another commenter's input:

Thankfully, I get very little pushback for still wearing a mask everywhere, but it's wild how such minor things that actually can make a difference managed to be so heavily politicized and how doing even that tiny thing means you're not "living" anymore.

And just in time to help sell some of the new jabs!

Because it's time for the vaxxers to take their medicine again!

I know you don't read the NYTimes, but some of the comments are hilarious. These communists really are true believers.

The other day I was reading some of the comments under this article...

(Enjoy unlimited access to all of The Times)(For Free!)

And I screen-shoted a couple of them...

There are many examples of these sorts of comments.
(It's like these people live on a different planet.)

So... They say the ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘ ! are on the rise...

(Remember the ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘ !, the ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘ !, the ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘ ! and all those cool case counting web-portals we had back at the height of the KungFlu panic hysteria?)(Good times!)

https://covidactnow.org/

They say the ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘ ! are on the rise...
Because they are testing sewage...

โ€œWeโ€™re now relying on wastewater data, because people arenโ€™t testing. We canโ€™t have other reliable measures,โ€ said Dr. Ashish Jha, dean of the School of Public Health at Brown University and former White House COVID-19 response coordinator in an interview with NPRโ€™s Morning Edition. He said that based on the wastewater data, โ€œthis is turning out to be possibly the biggest summer wave weโ€™ve had.โ€

Biggest Summer Wave Ever!

But... I can't help wonder, and I can't find any data either...
But who is actually catching the coof?
(My gut tells me that the vaxxers are being hit hardest.)

Could it be that antibody dependent enhancement starting to kick in?

Or... Maybe there are no ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘ ! at all? Maybe this is just part of an elaborate ruse to help some of the communists ๐‘…

And to sell a few moar KungFlu Jabs!

Sorry about the somewhat disjointed comment.

On the Covid โ€˜Off-Rampโ€™: No Tests, Isolation or Masks

August 27, 2024

"For many, Covid is increasingly regarded like the common cold. A scratchy throat and canceled plans bring a bewildering new critique from friends: You shouldnโ€™t have tested."

What a strange story to appear in August 2024.

There is a lot that is telling even in that 'teaser,' or article-subtitle as it appears at the New York Times. Who are these people "testing" in 2024? The author clearly assumes it's a significant phenomenon.

And now for what may be the least-surprising fact of your day, dear Peak Stupidity comment-readers:

The author of the article is an early-thirties white woman. Ethnoreligious origin uncertain; put the eyes to work and judge for oneself. Name: Emily Baumgaertner.

She is definitely a relatively-young white woman (counting white broadly, encompassing possible non-Christian ancestries). She has ties to New York. She has family-ties to Yale (father a professor), where she grew up. By her accounting, she has nine years residence in Washington DC, constituting most of her adult life. Hired as a health-journalism specialist by NYT, August 2022.

With Emily Baumgaertner, dear friends, I present to you the very dictionary-definition of a cadre member of the USA's Big-Blue coalition. A topic I wrote about, some, in my anti-Kamala essay some weeks back.
