Inevitable? Thank God it wasn't really.

What's gonna happen with these Democrats and their '24 Presidential candidate, what with the convention coming up in about 6 weeks? If you thought that debate wasn't entertaining enough, the Chicago shitshow to come may very well top it. I don't know how much hotel rooms overlooking the possible, hopeful violence in the streets would set one back, but after 56 years of inflation and the transition of this party to the utter mobile mental institution it is since last time there, 500 bucks a night would not feel so out of line. (Of course, I'd want, nay, NEED, a fully stocked bar. Having Pat Buchanan drop by to regale us with stories and maybe make a reaction video would make the visit complete.)

However, I've written before that I'm not certain the Blue Squad of the UniParty won't just attempt to drag old JoeMentia across the finish line by hook or, for the most part by crook. Yeah, I mean without the by crook part, he can't win this thing. The Deep State (yes, post to come on this with an ACCURATE definition) can handle a senile, half, or even fully dead man, once he's been elected. The ctrl-left voters and Lyin' Press talking heads may really be worried Bai Dien can't be dragged across the line. Additional others worry about a President in his sad shape being in control of the nuclear arsenal. Nah, it doesn't work like that. They'll make sure Bai Dien presses the button only if or when they WANT him to press it. That's not a real concern.

If they've given up though, it has been just been great for the Lyin Press and all of the media that there's massive ongoing speculation out there on who the D party will nominate.

I've read that it's kind of tricky to put someone different on the ballot at this late stage. I wonder about that though. Back in the smoke-filled room days, not THAT awful long ago, the candidates WERE selected this late, rather than the said conventions being just rallies for the guys (or gals, sorry Hillary!) who'd been already decided on by the primary election process.

There's talk about switching to younger, slick-haired, slick-minded Gavin Newsome, the embarrassing to everyone, but still, Black! (ok, 1/2) and female Kamala Harris, Oval Office-experienced Big Mike, and I wouldn't say the Hildabeast herself is yet out of consideration. (She has a fatal ambition, and nobody has yet had an opportunity to put a stake through her heart,... you know ... just to be sure)

What about Doctor* Jill, though? I've been glad not to have heard a thing about her for 3 solid years. That good luck streak ended as I've been seeing her try to help her husband with both his dementia and his holding onto power for dear life. There was the scene after the debate in which she talked to him as a child "You answered ALL the questions!" (I can't remember if she said "honey" or "little buddy".)

Doctor Jill has been working her butt off trying to keep JoeMentia the running to remain in power during the past week and a half of speculation. That picture above is from a Vogue magazine cover. From the Gateway Pundit: Jill Biden Dons $5,000 Silk Tuxedo Dress on Cover of Vogue, Asserts, “We Will Decide Our Future”. What do you mean "we", Jillosabe? Is this all about her standing by her man? We've heard that expression somewhere before, around 25 years ago IIRC. If she cared about old Joe so much as a husband, wouldn't she find a way for him to bow out gracefully. (That is, without hitting his head on something.) It'd be good to do this before his condition got any worse.

Maybe Mrs. Biden is so concerned about Joe's keeping in the running because SHE wants to hold onto power because she's already BEEN in power. So long as one works within the confines of what the Deep State wants, there's some leeway. Has Doctor Jill already been running an Edith Wilson** operation? Who would know? Would Joe remember signing some little piece of paper? If he did get suspicious, what could Doctor, remember, Jill do about it? "Is it safe?!" (Wait, that would be Dentist Jill.***)

Running an Edith Wilson op for the next 4 years would take a lot of guile. Could Doctor Jill somehow become the D-party Presidential candidate herself? I haven't read much on this, but then, she has sure been in the news a lot lately for a 1st lady. Unlike the other "lady" in our top image here, Jill Biden has not paid her dues. After spending her time as an unelected non-office-holder, she hasn't been duly elected to the Senate of a State she just became resident of and then held a cabinet position in which she killed people at will overseas and fomented revolutions. So, I mean...

Jill would also have to do this all on her own, without a sentiment loving husband behind her who owes her big time for her "standing by her man" ... after he wagged his finger on national TV at Americans to shame them for believing he was a liar of some sort about sex...

Will we see another version of the Hildabeast? I'm not confident that the original HIldabeast would be satisfied being her mentor, but I see a lot of similarities. Both are ambitious feminists in positions so very close to big power. I am making no predictions - it's all mere entertainment for us here - but if we read about this 1st lady being considered, Peak Stupidity will dub her The Jilldabeast in honor of her predecessor.

* She goes by "Doctor" due to her accomplishment of obtaining a a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in "educational leadership" later in life. Most PhD's don't ask to be called "Doctor" unless it's in the classroom. (In some U's, it "Professor" and others it's "Doctor".)

** Wife of Woodrow Wilson, who was incapacitated while in office for a spell.

*** Another old movie reference.

PS: Adam and Mr. Hail, regarding the site:

I'm sure the light blue might be a nice change, but I like to keep consistent. This mint green I picked with a minute's though will hopefully always remind you all of Peak Stupidity.

Could the color change with each post? That's a thought - easy enough to do. I would make absolutely sure it's never a color deep enough to make text unreadable. I've deal with that, I think last, with the "Postcards from Barsoon" guy and his interesting articles on depopulation/loss of fertility... there's another reminder.

Anyway, yes, have some way to search is probably the most important, both for usability for you all and for getting more readers.

The book list is something I should just get on. However, I could think of a place to insert the 2, maybe 3, pieces of data, author, title, url, to make it easier for Adam or anyone else.

PS: I do remember your full bio on Ron DeSantis and his Ohio settled Italian family and ancestry, Mr. Hail. Yes, that is a case of full assimilation, I'd say.

The Biden/Doctor pairing is a kind of typical Irish/Italian combination. Just from my recollection, that is kind of common in, for example, the Boston, Mass area. It's kind of an iSteve thing, as I wonder if it leans one way or another regarding Irishman/Italian Woman vs Italian man/Irish woman.

Jill Biden could be a Carmela Soprano (that show being a vice of mine back 20 years ago), except that Carmela was just a normal not-so-ambitious woman. She wanted the social status and nice things but really wished she didn't have to know about where the money came from. (She was not adverse to stealing few 20's here and there out of that toolbox(?) in the backyard, but usually she was mad at Tony, and for a good reason!)

"Sopranos" aside, yes, Jillary would govern like a corrupt Italian/Greek politician, one would assume. I hope we don't find out ...

Re: Sicilians and Southern Italians, and the Bidens

I would add that Ron DeSantis is of fully Italian origin, almost all of his ancestry also tracing to southern Italy. In my investigation into his family-tree, I highlighted a number of signs of strong acculturation early on to the mainstream, White-NW-European norm. Not all Italians "went in that direction" in the early generations.

What I was trying to get at was that Jill Biden's half-Sicilian origin was something like this: the concept of genetic random recombination means genes not expressed one generation can lay dormant and express themselves in a later generation. It's genotype vs. phenotype. Everyone sort of knows this by folk-tradition in their own families.

The half-ironic suggestion I was making was: Jill Biden was tapping into some of that "amoral familism" with her against-the-common-good drive to stay in power into her husband's mid-eighties.

It's fair to say that most Europeans regard Sicilians and Southern Italians as something apart, not mainstream Europeans. Whatever that is supposed to mean; I suppose by default it means either the Germanic core or at least a culturally-Germanicized population who share something of the classical-liberal tradition. Anthropologists like to talk about the "Hajnal Line" as a working definition of core-Europe.

Ann Coulter is so un-P.C. that she even dares criticize Biden for being a "typical Irish bully." I do think that fairly characterizes him, and at least it's transparent. The Irish-Catholic political tradition in the USA is full of people a lot like him. It's not been a net-good, to be honest.

But Jill Biden is harder to place. She wears many masks, and has many influences upon her. The Sicilian ancestry she turns out to have (half), some of it lines up with what she's been up to.

It's hard to know what to make of the "Biden Crime Family" meme that right-wing media was trying to push for some time. Most of the "news" is just made-up fluff-drama. But if there were crooked deals being made, netting the Bidens millions for influence-peddling (Hunter Biden paid millions by Ukrainian oligarchs for doing nothing, and more): Well, there are also of a kind we'd expect in corrupt Italian politics, or maybe Greece, or the like. More than we'd ever expect from a Northern European polity's politics.

PS: Re Herbert Hoover and the "All in the Family" theme song: Yes, the show was meant to show these 2, Archie and Edith as sometimes lovable rubes and worse adjectives. Same thing with the song, but I do wish they'd subbed in "Calvin Coolidge". True, that wouldn't go along with the working-class formerly D-voting - when that party was about the working man and so much more Conservative - Archie Bunker.

Herbert Hoover did a lot with his own (and own company) money to help starving Russians or Ukrainians in the early 1920s. He was an engineer who thought the economic problems of 1929 and thereafter could be solved by Government. In a way he was a proto-Roosevelt, but I think he was nowhere near Roosevelt's level of ideas about Government control of everything. So, he was in office one term only because he didn't "fix" the mess. Roosevelt came in and surely made it worse, especially during his 2nd term - 1937 was said to be the time the Depression got as bad as ever.

I do think Hoover was morally serious about America. Roosevelt, maybe more about his ideology and the world and DEMOCRACY!

These things that I haven't been following too much move quickly. Pundits, talking heads, rivals, whoever, are pushing hard, but Gateway pundit headlines seem to indicate that this guy will stay as the candidate. I don't know.

Mr. Hail, I got busy this whole day until now. I did know that a large share of those Italian immigrants in those decades - mid-1880s through 1900s(?) were southern Italians. I guess I can't go just by the Godfather, but the writer must have had this all in mind. That propensity for organized crime came with them I guess with so many more opportunities in New York and then branching out from there.

Is this a genetic propensity? They did seem to eventually acculturate, if not to, TOWARD, other European (in America) norms. It took a hell of a long time, and maybe it was just that the unified America with its law & order still intact through only a decade or two ago was not going to put up with it all. What if they were so large in number that they filled up big portions of States, like the Hispanics, though?

Is this why these (not all but the ones that came in the most then) were considered not White people? Is this just a myth spread by people now to show "see, our Somalians will become regular, errr, White(?) Americans too in 50 years, OK, maybe 100, no make that 1,000...

The tone in the elite agenda-setting press and among influential D-teamers, and well-wishers, and observers is now in favor of Biden in a clear way.

The betting-markets now favors Biden to be the D-team nominee for as much as 3-1, his highest ratio his late June. Did Biden really survive? The mutiny to carry forward its momentum would require a bold move by his opponents. The kinds of moves like yesterday's BIDEN STEP DOWN call from novelist Steven King (a histrionically anti-Trump man) is not enough.

A lot of the commentary now seems like people putting things out to later point back to: "I told you he'd lose."

Meanwhile, Blumpf fears nothing from his own people and triumphantly-gloatingly announces he is rejecting the Heritage Foundations "Project 2025" plan for mass-deportations and a pathway to an immigration-moratroum, a Zero Net-Migration policy for Third-Worlders. Deportations and a blocked-off flow of cheap workers and maids and gardeners (and diversity-pets), after all, could make Ivanka and Kusher cry.

-- What is Jill Biden's motivation? --

People talk about Joe Biden hanging around the limelight too long. But we do have to wonder if it's not him but Doctor Jill.

Joe Biden launched his first campaign for Senate in late 1971, ate age 28. The mandatory minimum age for a Senator is 30. The scheduled Senate election for Delaware was Nov 1972 and the term itself was to start in Jan 1973. Biden turned 30 in late Nov 1972; just in time; he squeaked in, both on age (turning 30 some forty days before induction into the Senate; and in the election itself, a 50-49 victory in low-population, apolitical Delaware).

In any case, ever since that time, the 1971-72 election cycle and the Jan 1973 induction into the Senate, Joe Biden's been in or near power.

Counting from the time he rolled into Washington to take his Senate in Jan 1973, if he serves as president until Jan 2029, it'll only be 56 years of loud self-promotion, blowhardness (Ann Coulter has long called him an "Irish bully" typical of the type), of confident mediocrity, of machine-politicking, and the luck of being a moderate-seeming White-male to balance the bizarre "Barack Hussein Obama For U.S. president" campaign of 2008, a truly bizarre little historic turn that is underappreciated by people these days.

But now, Jill Biden: Joe and Jill had not yet met when Joe's political career began back in 1971 and 1972. A divorce by the one and the dearly death of the other's spouse brought them together by spring 1975 (married, 1977). When they first met, Jill was only 23! Joe was 32. They married two years later in June 1977.

So here is Jill Biden, not a high-school sweetheart type, but suddenly the wife of a U.S. Senator! JACKPOT! In her early fifties, she enrolled as a student at the University of Delaware and took a doctorate in "educational leadership," awarded in 2007. By this time, Joe Biden had been a Senator for 34 years.

The nod to be Barack Hussein Obama's vice-president came in mid-2008, eighteen months after her doctorate in education. That bizarre little year, 2008; the unexplained huge spike in gas prices for a few weeks in mid-year; the Russia-Georgia war in which a man who later became a homeless, unkempt street-corner ranter without any national citizenship (Sakashvili) started a war over a breakaway province triggering Russian intervention; the Beijing Olympics in which PRC-China began to really think of itself as a peer for the West; the start of the Great Recession; and the candidacy of bozo war-monger McCain (who many believed "threw" the election to help usher in Obama); and the election of a no-name mystery-figure from an African-Muslim father and a hard-Left White mother.

The Obama election of 2008 of course ties directly to Biden and thus to 2024. How strange it was, that someone like that could become a national president of a country; as if PRC-China's politburo would promote up some mixed-race half-African unknown-quantity (I have recently criticized the dual-citizen Hindu-billionaire "Rishi Sunak" and the UK political system's elevation of such a man to the UK prim-ministership; but Obama was even worse in many ways).

Obama-2008 was a kind of ideological capstone of the way the USA had gone for the previous forty years. Joe Biden, not a principled man, drifted in that direction despite most of his career being thought a centrist.

In any case, Jill Biden was in as Second Lady by early 2009. Her children all raised -- including crack-addict son-in-law "Hunter" -- Jill Biden got a second wind and loved the attention. She found that he credentials as a teacher made her a privileged member of the D-team's inner coalition. She was perhaps always addicted to this kind of attention. I draw attention again to her possibly-tactical marriage to the much-older Biden in 1977, several years into his Senate term.

Wife of a Senator, 31.5 years (plus girlfriend, 2 additional years before being his wife); Second Lady, 8 years; First Lady, 3.5 years so far; wife of a/the leading presidential candidate (in 2019-20), about 1.5 years. That's a good 46.5 years of her life, from age 23 to now at age 73, with only a two-or-so year break in the late 2010s. She feels she still has so much left to do; she doesn't want to retire at 73; 77 (in 2029) would be nicer.

Understandably so. It struck a nerve with me too. It's pretty wild how blatantly anti-white these "government" agencies and other mainstream institutions are.

The only experience I have with the VA involves my grandfather. Years ago, (about 25 of 'em) I would take my Grandpa to appointments at the VA hospital in Buffalo, NY. The service was always shit, and the "care" was always sub-par, but they never turned him away. They did, however, inject him with a "flu shot" that caused complications and hospitalization that led to his demise shortly thereafter. (This is just one of the reasons that I will never take their poison needle.)

Mrs. Smith's father was also a veteran. He went to the VA just one time. (This was in the late 40's or early 50's.) They treated him so poorly that he never went back. He rarely spoke negatively of anyone, (if you can't say something nice don't say anything) but he said plenty of unkind words about the VA.

Pretty amazing that your local VA will simply NOT ALLOW non-𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌! veterans to even walk in the door.

I wonder how much longer this can continue before it reaches some sort of breaking point.(?)

-- "What would Banfield Say?" Jill Biden's political instincts as "Sicily" reconstituted several generations later --

It's interesting about Jill Biden and her purported addiction to being close to power and having prestige.

Something interesting to know about Jill Biden is of half-Italian ancestry. I don't know if that means anything or not. But it's not something you expect when you see or hear her.

And it's not just any Italian. It was Sicily. Arrival via immigrant ship arriving in New York in the year 1900. Sicily: the fringe of Italy, the fringe of Europe itself. Sicily: the place that many of us of Northern-European origin traditionally look upon as culturally semi-non-European.

The northern Italians themselves famously look down on the Italians from the southern third or so of the peninsula, and Sicily. The great sociologist Banfield (his grandson is the cartoonist for the Claremont Review of Books) did extensive studies of southern Italian towns and their ways. In the 1950s, Banfield concluded that the southern Italians displayed classic Third World behaviors, mindsets, instincts; their culture was unable to make progress without outside assistance. Something prevented them from pro-social cooperation, of the kind that comes naturally to the mostly-NW-European-origin "base white" population-stock that Americans are familiar with.

On the other hand, many of these southern Italians end up doing well in America and acting much like Northern Europeans. But many also didn't. The tendencies of "amoral familism" that were long locked in place among the southern-third of Italy and Sicily, and some other fringe areas of the European Mediterranean, remind me of the attitude people are imputing to Jill Biden just now. A fresh read of Banfield's classic text, THE MORAL BASIS OF A BACKWARD SOCIETY, with the Biden drama in mind, and maybe with the entire Democratic Party in mind, may yield a lot of sudden insights.

OTOH, Blumpf is also a figure from this kind of scene, the "padrone." Or even with a heavy touch of the mafia-boss to him, except a comic one who is more interested in boasting and loud opinions than getting stuff done.

To quote Adam Smith quoting The Simpsons quoting All In The Family, "Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again..." (Whoever wrote that song was making fun of the White husband-and-wife pair singing it; Herbert Hoover! But he does represent the kind of moral seriousness and quiet heroism that defined White America some time ago. He gets a bad rap with the Left attaching the "Hooverville" word to him; the economic story of the 1920s-1940s is subject to much distortion in the popular mind...)

Adam Smith:

I read the article https://www.ameridisability.com/excluding-race-from-lung-function-testing-could-increase-disability-benefits-for-black-veterans/

It read, in part, "Adjusting lung function assessments to exclude race as a factor—a shift advocated by health equity proponents—would lead to a reclassification of lung disease severity for nearly half a million Black Americans. Consequently, Black veterans might receive over $1 billion in additional disability benefits, according to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine." ...and later,

"Implications for Black Veterans: Rohan Khazanchi, a co-author, urged Black patients previously assessed with race-based equations to seek reevaluation. The study found that using race-neutral equations could substantially increase disability payments for Black veterans, while potentially reducing benefits for white veterans."

There are a multitude of veterans, myself included, who are simply UNWELCOME IN VA CLINICS AND THE VA SYSTEM IN GENERAL. I served 8 years active duty (2 Honorable Discharges and several awards, NO Article 15s) and I was told at one VA Clinic that I am NOT WELCOME THERE. NO REASON WAS GIVEN, even when I asked why. The VA bends over backwards to help blacks but, in my own experience, will simply NOT ALLOW other veterans to even walk in their door. This sounds like modified wealth redistribution to me... And it sounds to me like taxpayer $Billions simply cannot be given away to blacks fast enough.

There is no greater discrimination than in the Federal Government and especially the VA!

My apologies if my post is a bit off topic but this article about the VA rather struck a raw nerve with me.
