It seems like most of the "gifts" and "souvenirs" (aside from the t-shirts, pens, postcards, key rings, and etc.) are quite fabulous. Lots of rainbows and pride memorabilia at these "Gift Shops"...

I guess.(?) But seriously. There are like zero things I'd ever buy at these gift shops. These are not the sorts of things that I would ever give as a gift or buy as a souvenir.

Why do Holocaust museums have gift shops? 🤔

Have you ever been to a typical Atlantic beach town and noticed all the "surf shops" along the beach that have no customers? Just the same ticky tacky dust covered merchandise that no one is buying. The same t-shirts and flip flops as the all the other nearby shops. A lone cashier behind the counter reading a book (I guess today they'd be looking at their phone) because there is literally no work to do.

Well, I think these "gift shops" serve the same purpose as those "surf shops".

After all, the money doesn't launder itself.

Thanks for the link to your substack. I remember these stories from your comments here and on unz. But it was nice to read them more as a story and less like a comment. There were more details in your substack that didn't quite make it to the comments I read. (Well, perhaps I just don't remember all the details. It was a couple years ago.)

I've never eaten at a sonic, but that bacon double cheese burger with tots does look pretty good. Perhaps I'll try one of those one day.

As for your nephew looking forward to a bright future designing video games...

Well...

Apparently these jobs are fairly sought after and somewhat difficult to get due to their limited availability. Unless he has some serious 3d graphic design skills, then there is little chance of him making any real money at these jobs. The game companies have been known to take advantage of people's desire to work in the gaming industry by paying them shit wages for long hours of stressful work with tight deadlines. As an added bonus, many of these jobs are in expensive urban areas so even if someone does land their dream job designing video games the cost of living prevents them from saving any money while working these jobs.

I'm not trying to be discouraging, but unless he really has the proper skill set to put him ahead of the competition, or unless his uncle owns the game design company, then these jobs really aren't as good as they might seem. (Or so I've been told.)

Maybe your nephew can learn a trade or something?

PS: Haha, thanks for the graph, Adam. So interest in boobs was down for 5 hours that day - Taylor Swift hardest hurt.... Actually, "boobs" weren't down, only at their cyclic daily low. They tend to sag around 2 PM. It's just "Donate to Trump" was on a real high.

For those donating to Trump, they should be careful of scams. My wife told me this - how she found out, I am not sure...
