Harvard Business School* graduate Chris Pan gave an ... interesting and different commencement speech for the '24 graduating class of Ohio State University. Conservatives, such as The Gateway Pundit (actually taken from The Western Journal), Townhall, etc. thought along the lines of Ohio State Graduates Suffer Through ‘The Worst Commencement Address in the History of Commencement Addresses’. I don't know about that.
Indeed, this Chris Pan is ... yeah, a little different. Per his "About" page on his website, Mr. Pan was a Facebook employee at one point, even having taught Zuckerberg some Mandarin (helped Zuckerberg in understanding his wife and the Poontang Dynasty, etc.), he always wanted (to pretend?) to be a motivational speaker, he's helped millions of people "live with intention", and he's launching another "platform" to help people with their finances. Granted, finances are easy when you luck into a Deep State supported "platform", run by a soon-to-be mutil-dozen-Billionaire.
If you've got 20 minutes and haven't already watched this whole thing, see what you think. I found that Mr. Pan has a transcript of his talk on his site too. Possibly, he wrote the transcript beforehand or afterwards, at a time when he was not already or still allegedly high on a psychedelic drug called Ayahuasca. (I've never heard of it, much less taken it - sounds sort of Indian, so safe for work, I suppose... for the casino, not the call center. Things are bad enough in there without these kinds of "enhancements".)
I disagree strongly with the Conservatives who've ragged on this talk. First of all, Mike Landry (Western Journal) and Kevin McMahon (Townhall), I'm pretty sure this is nowhere NEAR the worst commencement speech in history! There was a time called "The 1960s". During that time, many people graduated college and many people spoke in front of said people's graduations. Peak Stupidity does not have enough space in our host company's database to list all the lying Commies, Black! racist agitators, and other Kings and Queens of Stupidity who gave speeches worse than Chris Pan's this year in Columbus, OH.
Secondly, though different from the normal fare, what else truthful would one have to say to the graduates nowadays? Do you tell the $80,000 in-debt Comparative Literature graduates that "The World is your oyster"? (I don't even like oysters, or else I don't know WHAT that means.) Do you tell the graduates they'll be the next Captains of Industry, running their very own Starbucks someday, the one they're returning to work at next week? Maybe they can come up with wonderful new ideas to help the world, say, novel, oyster-based Frappuccinos or something.
You could get away with all that when I graduated. The university in question had a very well-known guy speak at my commencement ceremony, which was their thing for many years. I'm not so enamored with the guy now ...
I don't like standing up and singing, but other than that, I thought this motivational talk by Chris Pan was not bad. Maybe Harvard has something going for it after all... it's called Ayahuasca. "Party on, dudes!"
Yes, this has been (unplanned, of course) video week here at Peak Stupidity. There's one more - a LONG one - that I want to feature next week.

I especially got a thing about making fun of Greta. I wonder if Alfred E. Newman should be taken off the graph up top and replaced with Greta Thunberg. "What, me chillax?"

I agree with you that the dramatic rise in autism is highly correlated with the dramatic increase in the childhood vaxx schedule. (We are not supposed to notice such things. Some people will even call us names for doing so.)
And perhaps there are some other contributory factors such as an overabundance of glyphosate in the environment, pre-natal and childhood exposure to fire retardants and other "forever chemicals", lead/cadmium/mercury exposure and/or exposure to other environmental toxins. Stephanie Seneff, for example, seems to think that the glyphosate in the environment is interacting with the childhood vaccines to help create this explosion in autism rates. Is she right? I don't know. But she may be on to something.
Whatever the cause, (it's the vaxxes), I can see this becoming problematic. How can a society continue to function when more than half its members are retarded? (Insert Africa joke here.)
It is pretty wild that medical errors are the third leading cause of death. (No doubt these errors are undercounted!)
Do no harm, indeed! ☮️

I wondered if I had my PHS hierarchy right, but went for the cheap shot. From what I’ve heard from Murthy, probably just garden-variety Libtard Neurosis.
Admiral Levine ... lulz 😝. Biden trolls the American people by putting that paragon of health in that position.
The Church of England is notorious for the whackadoodle cast of characters in its leadership. As much as everyone gushes about the “great job” Lizzie did on the throne, she did nothing to defend the faith, as she presided over the liquidation of the Empire. Dr. Thunberg fits in well with that lot.
As for autism, it’s dramatic rise in Americans is highly correlated with the dramatic increase in the childhood vaxx schedule. Not surprising, given that Iatrogenic harm is the third leading cause of death. Physician heal thyself, indeed!

PS: Good afternoon, Mr. Alarmist!
Thanks for the helpful answers. I'm under the impression that psychopathy or sociopathy is a prerequisite for all cabinet-level positions. (But what do I know? I imagine almost anyone willing to work for "government" is evil.) Perhaps narcissism or machiavellianism tick that box?
From this link...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surgeon_General_of_the_United_States
"The surgeon general must be appointed from individuals who are members of the regular corps of the U.S. Public Health Service and have specialized training or significant experience in public health programs. However, there is no time requirement for membership in the Public Health Service before holding the office of the Surgeon General, and nominees traditionally were appointed as members of the Public Health Service and as surgeon general at the same time."
Looks like Dr. Greta Thunberg is eligible should a President appoint and the Senate confirm her.
The current surgeon general is Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy. I know that the assistant secretary for health and Vivek's boss, Admiral Richard Levine, indeed fits the definition of mental illness as described in the DSM as published in most of our lifetimes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assistant_Secretary_for_Health
(They dropped gay from the DSM in 1973 and in 2013 they changed "gender identity disorder" to "gender dysphoria" to remove the stigma associated with the term disorder.)
I really don't know anything about Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy. Does he have a mental illness? Google won't tell me. (Hell, google won't even tell me if he's toilet trained, which would be pretty impressive for an •Indian.)
Here's a few more fun facts about Dr. Greta Thunberg that I did not know...
• Rowan Williams, the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury declared Thunberg a Biblical prophet. “God has raised up a prophet in Greta Thunberg in a way that no one could predict. She has said things that no one else could have said. Thank God for her!”
• Dr. Greta Thunberg was also proclaimed “Successor of Christ” by the Church of Sweden
Dr. Greta Thunberg, Biblical Prophet and Successor of Christ does have a nice ring to it. We should be so lucky that she'd accept the surgeon general offer.
America is on a track where a full 50%+ of the children will be diagnosed with autism by 2050* so it just makes sense to appoint a bunch of autists to these positions of influence.
And besides, the autists are unlikely to do a worse job than the psychopaths we have now.
Thanks again, Mr. Alarmist.
I hope you have a great evening! ☮️

-- In defense of the maligned Chris Pan and his so-called "worst speech in history" --
I agree with the esteemed Moderator when he says that the talk by Chris Pan was not all that bad. Though it was also "not that good."
This genre of talk, the "commencement speech," is a close cousin of the motivational pep-talk genre. Chris Pan just borrowed heavily from that genre. The whole genre has an element of the ridiculous to it, at its core. Maybe he didn't do it all that well, but is he outside the bounds of the normal?
But why is the Chris Pan OSU commencement-speech of 2024 "the worst speech in history"? Because it was less-organized and less-sleek than the usual versions of this kind of speech? That's not good enough.
The worst parts were pitching Bitcoin (this is a little ridiculous), and then at the end pitching his own services (as a "life coach") and his website. His grand reveal that he was "gifting" the entire audience a bracelet with a motivational slogan on it, was also ridiculous.
But these are gimmicks not related to the speech itself, which was not far from the norm for the genre. I don't know.
A working theory: East Asians often lack the kind of charisma to "pull off" this kind of speech, that is to say, to "sell" it. Get a Black to give the same speech and there'd probably be fewer people saying it's history's worst-ever speech.
Poor Chris Pan; he lost the crowd from early on. This is why people are afraid of public speaking, and why doing such speaking (or teaching, as in being a teacher, or at least discussion-leader of some kind, or, in a pinch, even "stand-up comedy") is valuable. For you swim, or you sink and die (metaphorically). Once you lose the audience, it can be hard to get them back. That was the real problem with the Chris Pan speech, not anything else inherent remotely qualifies it as "worst speech in history."

Q: Can a non-citizen be Surgeon General?
A: The Constitution does not impose a citizenship requirement; merely that a President appoints and the Senate confirms in its Advise and Consent role.
Q: Can he or she or it be autistic?
A: The current Surgeon General fits the definition of mental illness as described in the DSM as published in most of our lifetimes. There are more than a few Cabinet-level Officers who demonstrate current-DSM characteristics of sociopathy and psychopathy? Why not add an addled autist to the mix?

PS: Good evening, Achmed,
Yeah, this $31 spike is in the last few days. They're supposed to deliver my kangaroos tomorrow, I too hope they're legit.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/166724538699
I ordered a roll of these last month, and they were as expected.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/386722360465
I don't know why American coins come in rolls of 20 and Commonwealth coins come in rolls of 25. I do like Canadian and Aussie coins as they are .9999 fine. I can usually get the maple leafs for a little less per oz than the eagles and it seems like the Aussie coins usually carry a bit of a premium. This was the first time I saw the kangaroos for less than the American and Canadian coins so I hope they're what they should be. They are coming from a reputable dealer so I'm feeling confident. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.(?)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lower_Rio_Grande_Valley
Miss Thunberg has an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from UBC Okanagan in Kelowna, British Columbia as well as an honorary doctorate from the Theology Faculty of the University of Helsinki. I'm pretty sure this qualifies her to give a commencement speech pretty much anywhere she's invited.
With her two, count 'em 2, honorary doctorates she's probably qualified to be surgeon general, which would not only make her an Admiral (like Jim Morrison's dad and Richard Levine) but the youngest Admiral ever.
Does the surgeon general have to be an American? Can they be autistic?
I have so many questions... ☮️

PS: Thanks for that description and research into the 2 drugs, Mr. Smith, this one in question and the peyote, the latter from Mrs. Smith's and your own experience. I'm curious which valley you meant. Is that the Rio Grande valley in N. Mexico?
I watched the official Four Non-Blondes' "What's Up?" video. Man, that's 1.8 BILLION views. That doesn't even count other youtube posters clips of the same song. I didn't realize that was a 31 y/o song, so from pretty early in Chris Pan's childhood. (Going back to something of what Mr. Hail wrote about under a recent post.)
I agree that this is a better pick for him than your thrash/death metal(?) song. Mr. Pan was neither in the right mood or capable of singing that one - not to mention getting the crowd to go along.
I know who could sing it though, being a big inspiration to the crowd.
https://www.peakstupidity.com/index.php?post=1352
That inspiration would be enough to get someone to jump off a 136 foot wall (not to make light of the tragic death there in Columbus). After all, the Climate is so, so depressing, and Greta would be just the one to inspire us to despair.
Oh, man, now I imagine Greta speaking at some commencement ceremony. Do you have to be a college graduate to do this? How about a high school graduate?

PS: Good evening, Achmed...
You don't like oysters? Seriously? (Maybe the ones you tried weren't that fresh? or out of season? or raw. You gotta be careful with raw oysters.)
I love oysters. Love 'em.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayahuasca
I have never tried Ayahuasca. (I have no idea where I would find it. And if I could, I'm not sure I'd would try it. I'd have to be in the right setting, with the right people to guide me and I would microdose it if I tried it at all. At least until I started to get a grasp about how it works and what the effects are for me. I'd probably prefer to take it right here on the mountain. That would be the most comfortable place for me to try such a powerful psychedelic.)
I'm under the impression that this is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 something that you want to take recreationally. It is a very powerful medicine. If someone is going to try Ayahuasca it is wise to be with experienced people who know how to prepare it properly and use it properly. It's not like shrooms or LSD or even like candyflipping. (LSD/MDMA)
From what I understand, most people who take it vomit 𝐚𝐧𝐝 have diarrhea. (Ok. So I looked up. About half the people who take Ayahuasca purge. The other half do not. Still... Not the best way to start a 6 hour trip, in my opinion. And who wants diarrhea while tripping? Not me. No thank you!)
Ayahuasca is also likely to increase your heart rate and blood pressure. (So, people with high blood pressure or a heart condition have to be careful with this one.)
However, Ayahuasca has been used for a couple thousand years. It has helped many people overcome anxiety and depression. (And probably other things too. I really don't know much about it.)
This link here has some info from people who have tried it, some of whom have used it extensively...
https://www.quora.com/Does-everyone-vomit-after-taking-ayahuasca-Does-it-mean-something-if-you-do-not-vomit
I've never tried peyote either. But that is something that, given the chance, I would try. Mrs. Smith grew up in the valley and has as much experience with yote (she calls it yote) as I do with shrooms and LSD. The way she describes yote is about the way I'd describe shrooms. (I'm under the impression that yote is stronger than shrooms. But until I try it, I have no way to know that. Mrs. Smith doesn't know either as she has never tried shrooms.)
In either case the worst thing that is going to happen is that you're going to laugh until your belly and your face hurt. (Unless you eat the core of the yote. In that case you'll feel sick and probably vomit. Don't eat the core.) But the fun and happiness that comes from the laughter far outweighs the belly/face hurt.
I think it is good for the soul to laugh until your face hurts. I highly recommend it.
Also, when you trip on yote (as per the lovely Mrs. Smith) or shrooms you feel connected to the universe. It is a very nice feeling. Pretty cool.
But yeah. I don't know about trying Ayahuasca.
Anyway... This post is about Chris Pan. (Never heard of him.) And I haven't watched the video yet. But I did find another copy that you may (or may not) prefer. (I think the sound is better in your version.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcH-iL_FdYo
(A few minutes later...)
So, I'm watching it. I read the gateway pundit article before I finished reading your post.
𝑃𝑎𝑛 𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑟𝑜𝑤𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑗𝑜𝑖𝑛 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑖𝑛 𝑎 𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑔, 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑙𝑦𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑠 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑛 𝑎 𝑠𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑛.
The first thing that struck me was that it seems that Mike Landry (the author of the gateway pundit piece) doesn't know this song. (What's Up by 4 non-blondes.*) I can't imagine anyone needing the lyrics to sing along to this because I imagine most everyone in America has heard it. Maybe Mike was just surprised about the sing along. I don't know. (Back to the show...)
Bitcoin an asset class? Well, I guess. Until Satoshi, or whoever really controls bitcoin, or the "governments" of the world pull the plug. (If you can't hold it in your grubby little paw, do you really own it?) (Moving on...)
𝑃𝑎𝑛 𝑑𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑘 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑎 𝑐𝑜𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑒 𝑐𝑢𝑝 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑡𝑎𝑔 𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑡. -Mike Landry
Uh, that is clearly the string on a tea bag. But whatever.

I have to agree with you, Mr. Moderator. Not the worst speech ever. He tried to be uplifting, so that's cool. I'd guess some people's panties are in a wad because he let it be known that he used Ayahuasca to help write his speech. I'd bet that if it were not for that no one really would have taken any notice. Maybe there is some other reason people are complaining.(?)
I don't know. Maybe they had higher expectations because they feel a ceremony like this is a solemn occasion or whatever. I don't get it why people would feel that way, but some people really love awards and what not. (Plaques for 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬! for example.)
I don't know what the covfefe is about, but it seems to be all over the national news like it is a big deal or something. The current thing to center the 2 minutes hate on. I guess the sheeple need something to be outraged about.(?)
But whatever...

Did you know there was a (probable) suicide before the ceremony began?

That sucks for the poor girl whose mom suicided at her graduation. Even if it wasn't suicide, still sucks. Suicide just hits harder though. Either way, my heart goes out to her and her family.
Sucks for the other kids/people who watched her climb over the wall only to fall 136 feet to her death. I'm not into all these pomp and circumstance type things, but some people are. Probably not the best place to suicide, but people about to suicide (usually) aren't thinking clearly. The pain is just too much, they don't think about how it will affect those around them.
Maybe Larissa Brady should have tried Ayahuasca instead?

It's a stereotype, meaning there is some truth in it, as you really don't expect this. You expect a big thanks to the Tiger Mom for keeping you inside doing practicing the viola and doing integration by parts... yes, at 14 y/o!
