In Topics:   Race/Genetics
How long will Americans keep believing a big lie, for their purposes of virtue-signaling, respectability, career advancement, etc? It's a lie that, when believed and adhered to, just does more to destroy the American society that many - not all, by any means, of these believers DON'T want destroyed. I'm talking about nature vs. nurture when it comes to race, with those who go with the nurture only lie rightly derided by the alt-right as believing in "magic dirt" and "the blank slate".
This is not Peak Stupidity's bread & butter, but we do broach the subject occasionally in posts with the Race/Genetics topic key. Additionally, we have surely gathered a goodly portion of our readers from The Unz Review in which the writers Steve Sailer and Paul Kersey cover this topic very well in their blogs there (the latter almost full time). This post is an anecdote of my running into a "blank slate" believer head on... figuratively, that is.
This acquaintance is heavily involved in one of the local kids' organizations. At a 2-day long event, the subject of what his occupation was came up at one point. I wouldn't have expected it from the guy - more on this - but he works at a non-profit organization, run by a well-off entrepreneur, that helps young people get trained for and/or get placed in, software, aka IT, jobs. I would not have asked but the guy proudly volunteered the information that his organization was about equity. No, he didn't use that word, but he specifically told me that the goal was to get proportional numbers of young people based on race and sex, as compared to our community, into this workplace, which was, did I say IT?!
This man is a true believer in the blank slate, and I suppose it's not a lie if you believe it - we all can do just as well at anything (excepting maybe basketball) if we have the right environment. If that's not the perfect characterization, then he maybe he thinks the black kids need more help, because those White kids are privileged... somehow, but they'll end up just as good IT employees.
Here's what make this worth writing a post about, though: This race-denying individual is the farthest thing one can possibly imagine from one of the purple-haired Professors of Grievance Studies that Steve Sailer regularly features, based on some editorial of hers in The Atlantic. This guy has 4 White-as-can-be kids*, he works his ass off, and he already finished a career as a soldier, which shows in that he's a highly-motivated real leader of this group. (I mean, the reason I was talking to him then and not helping is that I found I could only help him with a few things, as he already had the work so down pat.)
I would not say that about any army veteran, of course. It's a different story with this guy, though, as he simply exudes leadership. It's part of what he teaches to these kids, such as mine.**
I hung out there pondering exactly how a guy with this much going for him believes that he will produce equally good IT people out of all races and all (haha, both) sexes. I do understand why he WANTS to believe it, as he explained that directly to me. He and his wife "want to do some good in this world, even if on a small scale". Believe me, if anyone can, this guy can. However, it's a lie that this equity he will achieve for this organization will be a good thing for this world.***
Not knowing a whole lot about the military, I didn't have much to talk about regarding his experience. However, as I wondered just this, he did give me a chance to ask about his final rank: Lieutenant Colonel. I think that explains this whole post.
* One of them, about 9 years old, got in a discussion with me of how many people in the world have red hair and blue eyes like one of his brothers. I mean, the kid could have been commenting on Steve Sailer's old HBD blog, for cryin' out loud!
** To keep this clear, our group has nothing to do with the organization that is this gentleman's workplace.

I agree, "We clearly ain’t voting our way out of this mess."
Funny, when I Duckduckgo “most fantastic black woman,” I get Rachel Dolezal. (Maybe it's a time zone thing?)
And when I Yandex “most fantastic black woman,” Dorothy Dandridge tops the list.(?)
"I see the urban folks of Fulton and Cobb county ‘counted’ enough votes to choose the slumlord over the beloved running back yet again."
I'm just glad that the 'urban folks of Fulton and Cobb county' didn't ‘count’ enough votes to anoint Stacey Abrams, the "most amazing black woman ever", as the next President of United Earf. (or "governor" of Georgia! as the case may be.) (Nobody wants that!)

Sam J., I believe I deleted your comment with the actual comment on it. I'm so sorry - I know it wasn't long - feel free to write it back in. Regarding your story, I guess people jump the gun sometimes.
John Derbyshire, in his latest podcast (transcript, as I wait for that) suggested semi-jokingly that we import a bunch of immigration lawyers to replace the bastards here now. Give 'em a taste of their own medicine.
BTW, I know we don't agree on all of this, but Mr. Derbyshire had an interesting tidbit on Chinese TV, the World Cup, and the Kung Flu precautions (the lack thereof on the TV causing consternation for the CCP officials, as the Chinese could view normal non-panicked (forced-to-panic) people.
I may point this out tomorrow. Thanks for all the comments recently, everyone!

I asked some guy once how long he had been here and he had an apoplectic fit about him being the US for seven years or some such. I meant how long had his shop been at that location. It didn't even occur to me to ask how long he had been in the US. We don't need any immigrants. Maybe a few tens of thousands of really smart technical types but the rest can stay where they are.

I hear way too many Europeans with a fetish for Africans comment that this African woman is so beautiful or that African male is so handsome, so after more than a few of these I dare to ask if they ever find any European women or men to be beautiful or handsome, and I often get crickets, which I generously attribute to the flight or fight reaction they must be feeling when they realise they have been confronted by someone who is pro-European peoples, which is culturally a no-go in the modern EU, because the EU is not for actual Europeans.

Mr. Hail, with regard to your search results, Holey Moley, I don't see how one can come up with a more perfect example of Steve Sailer's "1st Law of Female Journalism". PS: "Do you avoid talking to this ex-Lieutenant Colonel because you see no way to get across to him and/ or because you'd assume that it would turn out bad for you/and/or your kids?" I'd have to say neither of those reasons. I wouldn't even want to get across to him my point, even if it COULD get across to him, as this is his livelihood - it sounds like the rich do-gooder boss has this blank slatism as his non- profit business plan.
I wrote the post because I was very surprised. To answer Mr. Hail on this, no that he is a White guy is not the surprise. He is the 180 degree opposite of the Prof. of Grievance Studies in more ways than that. This is a guy that I think went to SERE (survival) school - wasn't that something that Alarmist here did. He is tough, a great leader*, and a guy who you think would understand the real world.
I was sitting there thinking about how this guy could really think this stuff, and I thought about Steve Sailer posts, actually mostly commenters, when they described the wokeness in the military being in the high ranks only. Then I asked the guy when it made sense to, and there you go: Lieutenant Colonel! It must have gotten drilled into him.
* As I wrote here, he makes me feel bad that I'm not helping out more with our group. I'm not one of the school volunteer type guys, partly based on my schedule, but my whole family are not people-people, not one bit.

Serious question: Do you avoid talking to this ex-Lieutenant Colonel because you see no way to get across to him and/ or because you'd assume that it would turn out bad for you/and/or your kids? - So - a risk-benefit thing or more of a simple lets not waste our time here, sine the odds are stongly (overwhelmingly) against us?)

The Joker! - My genealogical hypothesis of the day - because in the Jolker is an ever so miniscule but nonetheless real quote of this song)! - Maybe you could talk safely about this kind of genealogy with your Lieutenant? - Kris Kristofferson has a huge following amongst soldiers, my head says now).
J. K. Rowland's crime novel Te Casual Vacancy is a serious recommendation by me. A great and insightful read about immigration and its discontents - and about the misfortunes/mishapps of the white GB underclass - not only but at the same time not least... caused by the micro-clashes of civilizations.

About the guy. No, in no way will I, or even need to, talk to this gentleman about ANY of this because:
He's a really good guy, and I wouldn't want to start an argument about something that I can't change anyway, so I wouldn't argue about this even if I didn't like the guy. The non-profit outfit he works for has that one purpose in life, so it'd be like telling him his job is completely bogus. (It's not really - as they must have classes, coaching, interview prep, whatever, but the bogus part is what I wrote about, the quotas against White men. That's very much what it is when you specify what color/race/sex you will help.)

Mod. - my point hints at that "statistically unlikely" in your kind answer.
So - you can quite easily have racially mixed classes and perfectly well outcomes - that's what happens in GB in a lot of places, where in lots of schools, (immigrant) blacks are indeed better than the not too well taken care of offspring of the white underclass (to my own amusement: Joannne K.Rowling wrote the excellent (!) crime novel The Casual Vacancy about exactly this topic!).
So - this man could - soldier on in perfect negligence of the exceptionalism he is indeed part of with his ideas and actions.
It's partially a Dunning-Kruger problem and with the Dunning-Kruger types it's always that they could be right for the wrong reason, but - don't care and look you straight in the eyes with a triumphant smile and say: I don't have to care, because I'm right - see?!

Because the others just don't care... - and won't listen)...
So: Give it a try with this brave soldier man - and tell us, what happens! - And! - Goethe would add: But never get bitter about such: constellations! - Because these are solidly built into our existences and - - - will prevail in all their stubbornness and imperfection - - - forever***. -
***The idea to get rid of them completely is one (of the many!) starting points of utter catastrophic outcomes (not least utopianist ones....(now think of - Solschenizyn's great little equation about equality & justice...(don't know whether he did get that from Goehte - could be - - - but not necessarily so...) -.
Solschenizyn: If people are free, they are not equal and if they are equal, they are ot free.
PS

PS: OB, thanks for reading and commenting! The theory and statistics are not covered much, but the EFFECTS are.
No, that cop won't work out, Adam, haha.
I'm surprised the Dingo is only on 5% of the lists. That's probably only for the case in which you have babies.
Regarding the "most amazing girls", I was going to first pick door #2, but I think I like doors #3 and 4 even better!
Thanks for the links.

" I'm talking about nature vs. nurture when it comes to race, with those who go with the nurture only lie rightly derided by the alt-right as believing in "magic dirt" and "the blank slate". "
Well you can kennel/train Chihuahuas and Pit Bulls with Border Collies, but broadly speaking I wouldn't bet on the same level of sheep herding performance.
Would be interesting to know if the equity champion would have a preference between leaving his smallest child alone for a few hours with two Labradors, or two Pit Bulls?
(First time reader/commenter, so my apologies if I'm going over something already well covered here.)

PS: You can't fool Mother Nature in the long run, can you, I.M.? Thanks for the info on Trump. I'd rather someone else, cough, Ron DeSantis, try to fix things, but they sure are persecuting the hell out of the Donald.
Dieter, here's my take on the matter - stuff I didn't put at the end of the post, because I wanted to wrap it up. Yes, he could have placed the exact "right" number of blacks, hispanics, women (don't worry about Oriental, as they've probably already been hired), etc. by proportion of our Statistical Metropolitan Area into computer jobs. (You may have it wrong. His, or his boss' non-profit outfit didn't need the employees - their job was to place them in IT positions.) However, it's very highly likely by statistics that:
1) They will not do as good a job than people hired strictly by merit would.
2) He's screwing young White men out of jobs, again, statistically speaking (by the odds). His 4 kids are going to be ... wait for it... White Men! I really should have put that in the post. I mean, what kind of loyalty to his own family is this?
I saw him again tonight at an event, BTW. None of what I wrote says he's not a really good guy. Just, this doesn't help things ...

PS: Alarmist, I have been "guilty" of this behavior too, though not in as pressing a manner as that lady-in-waiting from the Steve Sailer post. (However, I'd have been just as stubborn at somepoint, simply due to, as in the 1st(?) Dirty Harry movie, "I gots ta know!" Curiosity cancelled the cat, or something...
What I mean is that I said hello to some Chinese-looking girl at the airport terminal, in Chinese. First of all, it's hard for my Chinese NOT to suck, but she was probably born here and resented that. I can see that, but then again, if she knew Chinese, which likely she did - she could have just told me in Chinese "Wo shi Mei Guo ren, dammit!" "I am American, dammit!" That Pin Yin is probably not correct, definitely the last part isn't. ;-}

Mod. if youdon't mid: - Its funny, but you made a mistake, that is not hard to point out: You can have a small business with all kinds of people from all kinds of racially different backgrounds and sexes too that - by and large - all perform reasonably well (I guess that if you'd propose this formula to him as marking the common ground between the blank slaters and the HBD folks, he might happily accept this - thesis. - But you - neclected the possibility even of it above. But possible - it is. Can it easily be realized? Is it very likely that you can realize such a goal - this is soemthing a bit else - elsely enough to make a decent difference - at least.
(Maybe I can add one more to my collection of non-googleable words - chances are!).

And so I axed her, “Where are you from? Where are you really from? Where are your people from?”
This is now what passes for “racism” in modern, progressive England.

Sam J - your quote of my post is about the right tail ends of the IQ-Bell Curves for different races - they differ, but they also overlapp.
Mod. - what I understand is, you keep quiet knowing that you know stuff, the other persons doesn't. That's actually a standard situation in life in Goethes understanding as explained in his novel Wilhelm Master. It is an illusion, Goethe implicitly tells his young hero Wilhelm (a nice & bright, but rather regular young man), to thiink that you always come across, or that you would always find an open ear. And don't get this wrong, Goethe implicitly strngthens his message: Knowing better and/or more does not change that basic - occurence (this lifetime (=existential) standard-situation). Thus, he goes on, it is a pleasure, if you meet people with which your interactions are different (more open) - and a gift - something you should not take for granted - and you should be grateful for.
