I don't remember what I was watching before this, but youtube tends to force the autoplay on, so I got to this Rodney Dangerfield skit from 1982 with a young, longer-haired Bill Murray as the straight man - yeah, pretty much, as best as he could do as the straight man.

The TV special was called It's Not Easy Bein' Me, and the title is perfect for Rodney Dangerfield's usual style. This video is unrelated to anything stupid going on today, but anyway, if you like the guy, enjoy this 5 minutes of hilarity.

PS

One of the funnier scenes in a Dangerfield/Murray collaboration did not actually involve both actors in the same scene ...

PS

When I saw the post title I thought it might be on comedian Norm MacDonald, recently dead.

I normally don’t bother with R.I.P. for entertainers, but I really did like this guy. He actually wasn’t a woke cuck, like the large majority of them. This one is a real loss."

Pre Corona-Panic, these were Norm MacDonald's instincts on virus panics:

"We've been so scared for so long by our media from Zica and Avian Flu and Pig Flu and Ebola and..... that we no longer are scared."

In early March 2020, Norm MacDonald wrote the following:

"It's morally wrong for me to do stand-up and cause strangers to possibly become sick. And now, with this virus, it seems even more wrong."

(This was right at the cusp of the Panic's big breakthrough but before it became a top-down Mandatory Flu Panic backed by the full force of the state.)

A week or so later, Norm MacDonald posted this:

"When you gonna get to me, get to me

it is just a matter of

Time, Corona

M-m-m-m-m-m-my Corona

Is it d-d-d-destiny, d-destiny

Or is it just a game in my

Mind, Corona?

M-m-m-m-m-m-m-my Corona."

_______________

Early March 2020 to mid-September 2021 is 18.5 months and much of that time was either disrupted or lost entirely to his career due to CoronaPanic-related damage.

He had a public life of some 28 years' length, counting from the first SNL episode (Sept. 1993) until his death a few days ago.

Up to 1.5 years lost (Corona-Panic deadweight loss) / 28 years in public eye = 5.5% of his career lost to Corona-Panic.

He was still okay to perform, etc., in 2020; maybe he was too sick by the end to perform for some months by the end, so we may need to bump down this calculation to a 4-5% loss, plus a ca. 1% loss due to cancer (=3.5 months; just pulling out a plausible number here).

This is a tangible example of the damage done by the Corona-Panic.

Was it worth losing 4+% of his career to fight a forever-war against a flu-virus? Now multiply the same by x hundreds-of-millions...

PS The Triple Lindy! That still cracks me up from the movie Back To School where Thornton Melon (Dangerfield) is the world's oldest living freshmen.
The Pee Wee's Big Adventure dancing on the biker bar scene is another one.

What if Anonymous from V for Vendetta is Karl Ruprecht Krönen from Hellboy!
