DeSantis to President: Go fuck yourself!

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis:

That above is supposed to be a reference to the NY Daily News headline Ford to City "Drop Dead" from 45 years back, in reference to New York City's request for bail-out money from the US Government.

Now, on this one, I was so excited to read what I'll post below that it made my week! OTOH, it's hard to find out whether this phone conversation really went like this or not. I don't go for the "it's too good not to be true, so we'll publish it anyway" bit. It's not really that we could get sued [STFU!! PS Legal Dept.] I don't want to purposefully spread false information. Look to the bottom for more on this.*

We get this short post about a conference call conversation between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on the one side and the President, his people, and a bunch of medical muckety-mucks on the other from Real Raw News. Written by one Michael Baxter, this great read (only 1 to 2 minutes) is something I'd like to paste in whole. However, I'll just give a brief background. The background is that the State of Florida has one of the few anti-Panic Governors. Because the next panic season, "New Strains!", in 3-D, is coming out to a school, playground, or small business near you, the medical experts, backed up by China-puppet Zhou Bai Dien, are on Florida's case.

There is obviously a strong partisan political component of this conflict. DeSantis is a Republican and was a Trump supporter. The panickers of the US Feral Gov't don't like how Florida has taken this all kind of easy. They don't like the results, which don't match the experts' finely-tuned models. The results, healthy people living their lives pretty normally (in a State with an extraordinary number of old people, no less!) must be wrong. The Feral officials want to make an example out of Florida, and they know that tourism is a big part of Florida's economy. Therefore, they want to implement some extra-Constitutional restrictions (more than we have now? Unpossible!) These involve travel into or out of the State of Florida. We pick up the conversation from there:
Florida had arrested the spread of Covid-19, DeSantis argued, and accused Biden of targeting Republican states that supported Donald Trump.

“Florida absolutely will not comply,” DeSantis repeated. “Instituting a travel ban or restriction of movement would be a gross example of federal overreach with no grounding in law or science. We have Covid-19 in check, and you’re trying to exert unlawful authority over our state and its people,” he chided Biden.

Biden then tacitly threatened to withhold federal funding and to deny Florida access to Covid-19 vaccinations.

“C’mon, man, Florida needs our help, and you need vaccines, which are hard to come by, isn’t that right, Dr. Fauci,” Biden said.

The “Deep State” doctor replied in the affirmative, telling DeSantis that he expects the prevalence of the UK variant to double or triple every week to 10 days.

“Governor, do you want to be responsible for reinfecting the nation? Truth is, we don’t even know how effective current vaccines are against the UK strain.”

DeSantis told Dr. Fauci he trusted his own state health authorities over financially incentivized federal officials.

“How much do you stand to earn from these vaccines, Dr. Fauci? And, Joe, if you continue with this course of action, I will authorize the state National Guard to protect the movement of Floridians,” DeSantis said.

“Address me as Mr. President or President Biden,” Biden said.

“I will not, and you can go fuck yourself,”DeSantis said before hanging up.
[My bolding, for a bold man.]

OK, let me make this clear: It should not be the most exciting thing in the world hearing about a guy talking back to the President, as if the President were the King. He's just the elected, honestly or NOT, head of the Federal Gov't Executive Branch. That not respecting him in person*** is a big deal is how it does seem to be going though, as we noted recently in The Farewell to Kings didn't take.

Because of one of the many evils of Constitutional Amendment XVI**, the flow of the money, local and State officials bow to the whims of our Feral officials. Now, with Governor DeSantis getting direct threats from the Feral Gov't to the economy of Florida, he is arranging to fight them. Telling the President to go fuck himself is a great start.

I am not exaggerating when I say this news made my week. I've not had a man-crush on anyone ever, as far as I can recall, but this is as close as it gets.

PS: Unless I find out that this conversation did not happen beforehand, I'll be looking up the office of the Governor of Florida later and writing possibly even a snail-mail letter in thanks - something he could hang in his office.

* Here is the text from just under the post on that Real Raw News site (their bolding, all the way):
Addendum: We are aware that various so-called fact checking agencies are disputing our account of the telephone call, claiming that the governor’s office has denied the event happened. These so-called fact checking parties are run by the Democratic Deep State. Real Raw News stands by our story and its source, and we would love to see DeSantis comment on it personally.
Theses "agencies" in question may be Snopes or a few others I checked out. None of them have had any quotations from officials denying this conversation. I found this story from Mr. Hail's comment under his most recent blog post, and before that, he got it from the Kunstler blog. (We discussed a post from Mr. Kunstler's blog before called Cluster-Fuck Nation****.) Mr. Hail added:
Michael Baxter, editor of Real Raw News, has now repeatedly said he believes it is authentic, stands by his source, source has provided him correct info in the past.
If Peak Stupidity learns that this is surely made up, we will note that at the top of this post and maybe make a quick correction post.

** See # 1, top of the list of evils, and, for more background on Amendment XVI, Part 1 and Part 2.

*** Though this somehow didn't apply to Donald Trump.

**** We've already ruined the family-friendliness of this particular post, so the rest are free, as they say!

Mr. Hail- you’re right about Trump, he seemed to suggest that he was anti- panic, but he never really took the panickers on. He let Fauci dictate policy for his administration- so it was all TESTING! VACCINES! LOCKDOWNS!

Again we still have vestiges of a Federal system, but it seems he could have done more.

The problem with Trump -- he could have done the same thing as DeSantis is doing now, and won. I think that's actually another possible answer to my proposed question of "Where are the Anti-Panic leaders?" --- Trump turned tail and ran when it counted. It doesn't explain it all, but it explains some.

Mr. Hail, you must be incorrect in your quote, as it posits the existence of a Republican with balls, which, as we all know, does not exist.

PS

DeSantis speaking Sunday Feb. 14 on a 'Fox News Sunday' morning show said this:

________________

“Biden is a lockdowner. His advisers are lockdowners. Lockdowns don’t work,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis, who went on to make a vow to the administration and its allies.

“We’re not turning back and they will not be able to get away with targeting Florida.”

Note the news of this phone call had been in the news several days by the time he said those words, which sound like a cleaned-up-for-tv version of the alleged phone call transcript of Feb. 10.

Mr. Moderator: lax is a very white sport, even more so than hockey, although the midfield position requires speed- it still hasn’t attracted a lot of fast black guys. Expense might be a factor, but I think most of the brothers just prefer football and hoops.

It bugs me that the previous Amherst college mlax coach was run out of town- he did a lot of minority outreach (no good deed goes unpunished), and I believe he was let go because he’d pissed off the fat lesbo. There was a racial incident but I believe ot was adequately dealt with, and trumped up.

The new coach is a good guy, and a good lax guy- although he was a football player in college. I have a feeling though, that his skin color gave him a leg up for one of the most high profile jobs in D III lax. One wonders if he would have taken the job if he knew he’d have no season this year.

PS: Robert, you are in a good place, if it's 50/50. I'm not seeing too many of the unmasked in the stores.

PS: Mr. Ganderson, do any black people even know how to PLAY lacrosse and squash, much less coach it?

BTW, with regard to my anti-"sportsball" posts occasionally, and remarks, I have nothing at all against college sports, besides the ridiculous amount of hype and money involved with college football. It is best for kids at that age, and well, all of us, to get outside and "get physical" as much as we can. It can clear the head of all this gloom from the internet and the classroom.

Also it looks like NESAC ( The New England Small College Athletic Conference) is not going to have Spring sports- I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that 6 of the 11 NESCAC presidents are women. The gals do like their panic.

I do know the hefty lesbian who runs Amherst College hates athletics. (Amherst has one of the best overall D III programs in the country) She commissioned a study a few years ago to look into the feasibility of doing away with sports at Amherst. The study concluded it was not feasible AT THIS TIME. She’ll have to wait until the rich old alums from when Amherst was a men’s college die off- shouldn’t be too long. As an aside, I wonder if there’s a sort of “Brezhnev Doctrine” for college presidents- once you have a fat lesbo as your prexy, you always have to have a fat lesbo?

She’s already run the highly successful men’s lacrosse coach out of town on trumped up charges of RACISM! And the last three coaches hired at Amherst have been black, the men’s hoops coach, (well, OK) and the lacrosse and squash coaches. Lacrosse and squash! The men’s hockey coach has been there a long time- more than 35 years- wonder if he’ll be replaced by a black guy. Paging PK Subban!

I know many of you are thinking, lighten up, Gandy, college sports are stupid anyway. Not arguing, but I think more of value emanates from the sports programs at many (most?) schools than from the “academic” side of things. I’d rather have a good hockey team than any program with “studies” in its moniker. Or for that matter most of the traditional disciplines like History and English. We can call in our pal Severian for the deciding vote!

Robert- not around here- masked to max in Mass!

Dumbest thing of the week- UMASS Amherst has backed off its studential lockdown, and as of yesterday sports can start back up. BUT .... no home games. As if the virus know that, if a team is playing at the Mullins Center on campus, it can attack the hoops and hockey players; apparently though, the ‘Rona can’t figure out how to get inside Mathews Arena at Northeastern, or Agganis at BU.

And, both lax teams play outside, so WTF?

Perhaps the Resistance is growing?

I would assume DeSantis keeps records of all his calls. If this is true obviously DiSantis doesn't want tapes or transcripts of his conversation with Slow Joe released. In that case I wonder why? The libs and the panickers and the press (Department of Redundancy Department) all hate him already.

My local small town daily paper today was an absolute riot of Panic Porn. One year to flatten the curve.

Oh, and what happened to all the SUPER Spreading that was supposed to happen because of the SUPER Bowl in Tampa?

PS Yeah, Mr. Ganderson, that "come on, man" did make me wonder. Who knows though - this guy likely can't shake his normal speech patterns, like a lot of us. As much as I want nothing to do with the guy, I say that "hey man" or "c'mon man" a lot, and I'd kind of like it in him if he were on our side.

I am crossing my fingers that this is true.

PS. As we have discussed , I desperately want this to be true. The one thing that stands out to me, though is the “come on man “, which I know Biden has said in the past, but is a kind of a cliché of what Biden says in all kinds of situation. I fear that this is probably a hoax, but would be delighted find otherwise
