Targeted for Hysteria - Addendum

I didn't want to make the previous post too long, so here is just a little bit more, perhaps somewhat repetitive, to explain what I was doing in the target store with the face mask on.

I have not worn a face-mask until today. Let me explain: I do not want to be a part of this hysterical response, most especially now when there is no “flatten the curve” excuse even. I have been hanging out with friends, going to the park with mine and other kids, and going to work without the mask (even with it being required recently – we have our share of rebels).

I did not lie about my not wearing masks to my wife, so she has been getting more and more worried and sleepless about it, just making it worse. She means very well for the family, but this Infotainment Panic-Fest has been a big a problem. In my opinion it is a matter of perspective too, and I am old enough to have seen similar Oriental virae come through without this ridiculous LOCKDOWN crap (a term very recently only used for Maximum Security prisons) and the rest.

Now, it’s either a) lie about it to keep the calm – can’t do this, b) explain my perspective to her – not working, c) keep telling her the truth and get many tears and bad relations, or d) promise to wear the masks at the stores and work. It’s (d) now, but this BS better end soon!

I'm as scared about it as the next guy, if I ever think about it, but we've just got to all remember - we ARE all gonna die. In the meantime, there is no reason for this craziness.

The wheel is turning, and you can't slow down.
You can't let go, and you can't hold on.
You can't go back, and you can't stand still.
If the thunder don't get you, then the lightning will.

PS: Mr. Smith,

Yes, one spirit is heavily taxed, and the other is tax-exempt. And, as you imply, there can be only one god.

PS: Mr. Moderator,

I bought the mask on Ebay or Amazon or some such. Most weren't shipping for a month or more, but I found a decent one that I got in only four days or so. Perhaps there are more out there, but I think they were expected to sell only around Halloween, so there are 'supply-chain' problems.

I hope I have the strength to wear it, but then again why distress the little old ladies at Church? I will report back later.

PS: Hey Robert...

Beer and liquor are considered essential by "the state" because of the tax revenue.

The church is not considered essential by "the state" because the people currently running "the state" think they are god.

Q: Anyone know where I can get quantities of 30-30 ammo off the books?

A: Walmart or any gun Store. Pay with cash.

PS: Great rant, Robert. It felt good to read this too, likely because i agree with every part.

Oh, you're gonna wear one of those Black Plague beak mask? That'll be a hoot! Did you make it or buy it? I think that this one may get a great reception on me too. Thanks for the idea.

PS: In Re: Masks

I have not yet had to wear a mask. I suspect that I will be asked to do so this Wednesday, when our kind Governor allows us to gather for a Public Mass again. Beer is essential (I agree), but the public worship of God is not (I strongly disagree). Even worse, our esteemed Bishops, many of them, banned public Masses (and other gatherings) even before being told to do so. Be safe! If you were to get sick and die, who would give us Money? As the Flying Lizards said:
The best things in life are free
But you can keep them for the birds and bees
Now give me money
(That's what I want)
If there were any legal meaning to 'separation of Church and State' (not that it is anywhere in the Constitution), this would be the time to sue for it.

But yet the Sonne of man comming, shal he find trow you, faith in the earth? With the almost world wide abrogation of Masses, and Frank the hippy so-called Pope worshiping Pachamama, are we in the end times? I would have expected at least a real plague. Will the other horse-men be any better?

Sorry for the mini-rant. (But it did feel good.)

So, back to the original comment. If I am requested to wear a mask Wednesday, I hope I have the strength to wear my plague doctor mask. At least till Mass starts --- one would not want to distract the Priest during his duties.

PS: The gun show.

(No need to edit if you don't want me to, Mr. Blanc)

On the masks again, I just feel like I'm part of the madness wearing them. I find it easier to just do my thing and not give a dang what people think about my non-mask-wearing (giving them room when the seem to want it, of course), rather than feel like a chump myself. Granted, the way things are now, people are sparse in most of the places I need to go, so I don't really have to do much to stay those 6 ft. away.

PS By the way AE, if you feel the need to edit out the bit about the ammo, I won’t be offended.

PS To me, the biggest part of the mask-wearing—besides that now they won’t let you into the supermarket without one—is to not upset other people. Even if they’re completely wrong about this disease, having people freak out while you’re going about your business isn’t worth it to me. Not wearing a mask is not the hill I choose to die on. That will be, perhaps, postal voting. Anyone know where I can get quantities of 30-30 ammo off the books?

PS: Boston Garden, May 7th,'77, it says, Mr. Ganderson. Also, real cuties don't wear masks either. What would the point be in being a real cutie, then?

Jim, I was pointed to a video on that (your reason #1), but for me, I haven't worn one enough yet, I think.

Won’t you try just a little bit harder
Couldn’t you try just a little bit more...

I wear a mask (actually it’s a flour sack towel) only when the merchant requests it. We are supposed to wear them on Our daily walk through the local small college campus- OUTSIDE! I don’t. Also no cute coeds to fawn over the dog.

PS Reason 1 not to wear a mask: It can be detrimental to your health. Reason 2: Who needs a reason 2?
