The Banning of Existence for motor vehicles

I already include the Rush song in this past Saturday's post, but here's another Motor Law: Eight States Plan to Ban the Sale of Gas-Powered Vehicles as Joe Biden Issues New Rules to Begin Killing Them Off. I really don't think it's going to be that easy.

As with the last post, you and I both - well hopefully more than the two of us are involved - are probably sick of going over and over the stupidity of this Climate Calamity™ deal. I realized, as the Kung Flu PanicFest finally tailed off, that this thing was not close to over. However, I did not expect it to become the biggest overarching excuse for Globalists/Communists to take over large parts of the world's economies. Thanks, little Miss Thunberg. I gotta' feeling you're gonna reGreta your whole childhood.*

So again here, it's just a couple of lines from the GP story that had me wanting to write a post. This is about State, not Feral, law:
Delaware and Colorado, for example, last year finalized rules that require 82 percent of all new cars to be zero emission vehicles by 2032. New Mexico announced last July that it will set its own annual targets for the sale of zero-emission vehicles. But none of these states have endorsed the 2035 ban.
How does that work? As highly stupid as it is to prohibit the sale of vehicles based on unsound, unfinished modeling of the Earth's climate (what, with the explanation of the ICE freaking AGES not even clear), I see that laws are put on businesses and people. You can't buy this. You can't sell this. Wait, that sounds like ... well, that's not this post.

What I don't even get the stupidity of is the rules against there BEING less than 82% - where in Sam Hill did they get that precise number? - EVs. I mean, these laws are not restricting or mandating sales, not manufacturing, not purchases, but BEING. These cars must not BE here! But, but, what if they are? What are the sentencing guidelines on cars existing where they shouldn't?

"You there, yeah, you two F-150s and you three Toyota Matrices! Yes, you need to be beyond that (State) line. Stay behind the line, Sirs! I WILL use lethal force. OK, that's it, get on the autorack. Quit resisting! Watch your hood there."

At least New Mexico specifies sales... because, you know, it's not like anyone can drive one of those evil IC-engine vehicles in from Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, or Colorado, or diagonally across the Four Corners from Utah. The latter be Navajo country. You may end up in a showdown. Then there's the stretch of the N. Mexican border with Ole Mexico. Nobody gets across there alive! It's no country for old cars.

PS

There will never be enough electrical capacity to power enough cars to replace the ICE vehicles now in use. That’s not a mistake, it’s an intentional feature. You will not own a vehicle (unless you’re connected or rich), you will use public transportation or perhaps an Uber cab, and you will only go to approved locations (if you’ve been nice boys and girls)… but it’s for your own good, even if you’re too stupid to realize it.

Mr. Hail wrote about the popular netflix-series DARK - :

"A 'literal' demonization of nuclear-power, but made in a mystery-suspense, sci-fi kind of way that attracted many fans. The whole premise of the series, about nuclear power-plants channeling evils that torment everyone for generations... It all seems silly, but of course national, cultural, subcultural, and civilization myths are built on such things, as well all would recognize if seen from afar."

Demons are there  - and -hehe: Therefore  - -real.A culture's sanity/functionality depends not least on the .w.ay.s. in which it deals with this dark matter.
Very interesting: I've read today âbout a Manga-artist (Japanese,of course) - - -an introvert (= dead sure); a man who can speak in a very cool way about the Demons he lets his character (!) chase. He has a clear vision, that manga-drawers are in a Guild -  -a brotherhood almost of  - - - highly (!) competitive Manga-authors.
Japanese are very much into these fantasies - but they seem to look at them as - - plays. I think that the attitude with which such themes are approached is crucial.
Just in no perfect order: The Rolling Stones and Goethe dealt with this sphere perfectly well, Jean Paull a bit less so,but very very good either.
The church has given up on these things - - - huge mistake._ If it wasn't very unchristian to say that, I'd even say; Unforgivable.
Oho: Jordan B. Peterson and Iain McGilchrist have things to say about this sphere - - -as has: Crime writer Andrew Klavans

PS Yeah, AE, a lot of people are going to suffer as a result of the actions of the Left. But this is not a complete injustice. We, the American people, allowed these people to take over just about every one of our important institutions. We did it in a lot of ways and for a lot of reasons, or no reason at all. Sure, some of us fought against it, but that was a small minority, and very ineffective. Our chickens are now coming home. It’s going to be a rough ride.

PS
The "82%" figure is almost certainly the result of a committee splitting the difference from clashing lobbyists.
No science or members of the people (or even experts) involved as such.
Rather like the things we hear about FDR's knob twiddling. "What shall we make the price of oil today? Up 3 cents, 4, do I hear 5? Sold!"

RE: The show "Dark" (reply to Dieter Kief)

A big hit in the period about 2018 to 2021+, entirely on Netflix. It is said that several million Germans watched at least some of it, and up to several tens of millions of non-Germans watched some of it.

Its popularity must have really broken through during the changes in behavior associated with the Corona-lockdowns of spring 2020. A big boon for all kinds of products and services (not least TikTok). If you had never heard of it, all I would take that to mean is you are not a "Netflix" follower or watcher. I had not heard of "Dark", either, until one such person alerted me to it last year. I do not wish to spend excessive time involved with such things as Netflix, the endless-streaming of selected movies and tv-shows "ad nauseum."

It's hard to say how many people watched "Dark," but it was a big deal in its time in the "Netflix" world. We can see as much from "Dark" having so many hundreds of thousands of user-ratings on IMDB.

My theory on "Dark" is not that it influenced politics, but that it was a reflection of the "Zeitgeist" of the mid-to-late 2010s in Germany, most especially on the nuclear Energiewende question.

A 'literal' demonization of nuclear-power, but made in a mystery-suspense, sci-fi kind of way that attracted many fans. The whole premise of the series, about nuclear power-plants channeling evils that torment everyone for generations... It all seems silly, but of course national, cultural, subcultural, and civilization myths are built on such things, as well all would recognize if seen from afar.

Mr. Hail, this netflix series dark is intersting.
On the other hand, nobody I know of - be it left right or middle, ever talked, or wrote about or even mentioned this stuff.
How did you find it?
Any idea how many people saw it?

PS In the 1970's we were buried with predictions about the imminent end of oil and global cooling that would soon destroy most crops. Then it was acid rain that would destroy our forests. Later on it was the ozone hole...OMG!!! Later still it was global warming where, according to all knowing Algore, we were soon to be inundated by sea water from the CO2 increase. And our poorly educated public (yet another long term Democrat goal) keeps buying into these obviously fraudulent "emergencies" as long as taxpayers will keep paying for these carefully orchestrated government hoaxes and programs. This is how the Democrat Party keeps operating and where their money comes from. Kinda makes you wonder what's next, huh?

I wouldn't mind that, Mr. Blanc, but it's gonna be a disaster for EVERYONE. They always drag the rest down with them. They are not into control groups when they do these large-scale social experiments.

I, for one, volunteer for a control group.

PS: Thanks for that video, Mr. Kief. I have to use closed-captioning here, but I'll enjoy it more later again with the sound on. Peterson does have a lot of common sense. All his arguments are ones I've known for years.

I've just been sticking to the simple one that any mathematical climate model any of these "political scientists", let's call them, purport to have, have never been shown to predict jack squat, even on a very rough scale (say, 5, then 10, the 15 years from the model's running, temperature, humidity, etc. changes within a reasonable tolerance over areas the size of India or something.

You really can't be making big mandatory government economic policies based on some idea with as flimsy support as these non-working models give.

I like how Dr. Peterson brought up the Communists!

PS: Mr. Hail, I have a browser tab with an article about Germany's reversion back to the kind of energy that can power a country and economy like its, after that stupid, stupid policy of no Nukes and going green. (Germany, for crying out loud - I don't think of it as a sunny place, on the average.)

It sounds very much like the policy that Dark Brandon has been pushing - another article about big rigs being forced to be made as EV's is on The Gateway Pundit now. Will we be any smarter? I should say, do we have any more power than the Germans have had to stop this stupidity?

Anyway, good comment - I didn't know about "The Dark" and all that. Let me just paste this in here:

@NJ Transit Commuter
Has there been [an anti-nuclear movement] since [ca. 1992]?

It applies to Germany.

Germany flipped from being mostly committed to nuclear power as of the 1970s-2000s (with only the Green Party truly opposed), to having a pro-Migrant demagogue of unfond memory named Angela Merkel impose a brutal zero-nuclear policy in the 2010s.

The euphemism “Energiewende,” Energy-change, came out. Hotheads and mini-demagogues jumped in, after the Japanese Fukushima incident (2011), to get this through.

The unsolved and now-untalked-about bombing of the Nordstream pipeline in September 2022, would not have mattered as much if not for this 2010s-policy.

By ca. 2019, there was little chance of reversing the no-nuclear-power policy. It had become a left-wing and centrist cause, with only the AfD opposed to the Merkel nuclear-shutdown. Being anti-nuclear was to be of the Left, but it was also safe for all because Merkel pushed it. It was really more a consensus.

A popular German Netflix sci-fi/horror series of the late 2010s and early 2020s, consumed widely during the Corona-Panic lockdown period, named Dark, convinced impressionable centrists and marginals that nuclear power-plants had created satanic energies all along. The very presence of nuclear power-plants had literally unleashed an alarming range of satanic evils, which tormented the sympathetic main-characters of the show across time, 1980s to 2010s, without end.

The Dark show argued that evil spirits that the nuclear power-plants brought into our dimension had abducted and mutilated children, in service of an evil, multi-dimensional “nuclear” agenda. I guess the abduction-and-mutilation of children plot was supposed to be a metaphor for a “Why Won’t Someone Please Think of the Children!” argument.

This late-2010s-early-2020s cultural artifact, the Dark series, might also help people of the future understand the causes of the Corona-Panic of 2020-2022. Even though the two are unrelated. Dark lends a kind of support to those who explained the Panic as tied to the 2010s-era environmental movement, certainly in spirit.

The Corona-Panic’s energies in 2020, fueled largely by excitable, overly-online and “Cluster B” people, created a kind of religion around itself, much as Dark created a satanic mythology around nuclear power-plants, a distilled version of anti-nuclear-power exuberance.

"the stupidity of this Climate Calamity™ deal. I realized, as the Kung Flu PanicFest finally tailed off, that this thing was not close to over..."

Mentioned this in the previous discussion-thread, but I wrote a small essay on the connection between the Climate Crisis ideology, as it was in the 2010s, and the Corona-Panic of the early 2020s. Here:

https://www.unz.com/isteve/kahnemans-gun/#comment-6491099

Specifically it is a comparison with the case of Germany's aggressive commitment to climate-crisis politics (2010s) and its commitment to the Corona-Panicin (early 2020s) in similar-looking ways, and actually involving some of the same actors.

A lot of people, back in 2020 and 2021, suggested a direct connection between Climate ideology activists and the Lockdown etc 'Panic'-supporters (and as H. Mac-Donald might say, our venn diagram there would have Safetyism feminization in the center). I refer to discussions by stunned Reality-loyalists (Anti-Panickers) looking around for explanations for how the thing could happen...
