Projection by the ctrl-left in it's purest form

I don't go for a lot of psychological mumbo-jumbo, neither believing much of it nor even using the terms. However, after pooh-poohing the idea of psychological projection and chalking it up to just normal stupid or evil behavior, I came across a textbook example of this phenomena. I mean, were I writing a textbook, I would have to find some way to include this video!

Per the website Psycho Central (wait, that's Psyche Central), I get the following:
From the expert:

“Projection is seeing something unconsciously experienced inside and placing it on someone else,” explains Timothy Yen, PsyD, Bay Area, California. “In some cases, projection can be something that bothers the individual about him, but he may be unable or unwilling to deal with the issue.”
[Gender mistakes in original fixed.]
Here's that 3 minute mix of TV news talking heads that perfectly demonstrates psychological projection. It's titled Media Warn If Trump’s Re-Elected Every Bad Thing They Can Possibly Imagine Will Happen. Because I am not a TV watcher, I'd never have believed someone if I hadn't seen this with my own eyes here:

I couldn't tell if the youtube poster went for the projection out of the mouths of these talking psychos. The commenters sure don't.

Donald Trump is the problem - that fits in nicely the stories people are used to. Fictions about good and bad. Do away with the bad guy: Everything is good! - I'd love to hear from a developmental psychologist from when on - three years of age, five years? - kids don't follow that script automatically. The good bad scheme fits in with democratic elections as long as you don't aim for the eradication/annihilation of your opponent. Now - all of the US public sphere is turned into a play, making sure everybody gets that Trump is the bad one. This fits in with what people are used to from their media-consumption in permanence. This is a mass experiment on the annihilation of the difference between fiction and reality. The US as a big consciousness-laboratory, that shapes politics in order to make it the right kind of leftwing politics: Cozy, cruel and warm. We will do otherwise in the future they say, but we have no choice in the case of Donald Trump. Here is a ten-minute example how the Trump is bad story succeeds - it is my pars pro toto in this case, because the ones to succumb to the storyline rather than listening to arguments aretwo rather brigth (and at other times very sympathetic guys: Bill Maher and Sam Harris: their opponent is an ex-CNN insider and well versed journalist, who knows very well how to - verbally - fight.

PS: Alarmist, it's an old thread now, but I completely missed the Jim Goad article on Norm Lear sitcoms, till this morning. The comments are very good so far - got up just past yours:

I wanted to borrow that "Anti-Pope" - never even thought of that - with attribution, of course.

PS: Greetings, Achmed,

Organic means the chicken has never been treated with antibiotics, steroids or hormones and that it eats only certified organic feed. (No artificial pesticide or fertilizer.) It is also a little leaner and therefore a little healthier. Probably worth the difference, but $14 seems high for a chicken. I guess it's the new normal though.

I live more rural than you do so I'm used to buying things online. For me it really is faster (and easier) than riding around all over the place looking for things.

PS: Alarmist, I'd try to get parts now. Some do have a shelf life - my mechanic friend says keep all the rubbers stuff packaged within plastic. However, it's getting harder to get stuff for me, even without the SHitting TF yet.

All I wanted was about 50 10-24 1" long socket head screws. I've been to 2 Lowes and only have half of them! The HW store might have them, but first there was one of these specialty fastener stores. I mean, they gotta have these, right? Glad I called first, because after 5 min. on hold, 5 mins of her asking me the size 2 or 3 times, I found out they are a "fulfillment center" now, meaning, "for you, we don't have squat".

Yeah, I know, go online, but I wanted these in my hand quickly.

That was a digression, but let me recommend getting lots of parts and anything else that you're likely to use. It won't go down in price later, I Guar-ON-TEE you. For me, it's a matter of storage. As I wrote, I stocked up on a little bit of lumber 10 years back or so, but I'd have gotten 10x as much had I the room.

PS: Yeah, if you can't find the right part, it's great you can make it yourself, Adam. I hope you get the tractor running well with it. An oil pan one should be much less complex and not be so big a deal if it fails.

Yeah, 105% increase in reasonably good times - imagine if some Congress with financial guts had decided to draw the line on deficits back in '08, end of Bush the Lesser's term. We are at $32 Trillion or so now. $5.8 Trillion is but a small chunk of that. Things wouldn't look so bad. (There is other debt and then unfunded obligations too, though ...)

I think my wife spend $14 for a whole chicken recently. That was uncooked. She goes for the "organic" stuff, but I'm not sure what that means.

As America continues to dwindle into a third world nation I imagine that I will be making/repairing more of my own parts, much like the Cubans do to keep their old cars running.

Fortunately, making gaskets is easy...

Speaking of America's decline, has anyone else noticed that it is nearly impossible to find turkey thighs at the grocery store? We used to be able to get them pretty much any time we wanted at any grocery store. Now, the only place I can find them is Sprouts and that is only occasionally.

And as long as I'm ranting, what happened to the whole chickens? It's like $13 for a whole bird. The only ones I've been buying are the $7 rotisserie chickens. Seriously, what happened to the whole (uncooked) chickens? They used to be like 4 bucks. Is this how they're going to get people to eat the bugz?

On a brighter note, Kroger has bone in Ribeye for $7 dollar bucks a pound this week. (Time to stock the freezer.)

I hope you have a nice evening, Mr. Alarmist! ☮️

@Mod, shame that the left have banned the teachings of Uncle Remus.

@AdamSmith, Oddly enough, while I was on my treadmill yesterday, I wondered if I would be able to fabrcate various parts, like a drive belt, when TSHTF. Assuming roving bands don’t overrun us, I’ll still have power and a desire to not run in a forest roamed by hostiles. Useful skills are the best prep.

PS: Good evening, Mr. Moderator, Mr Alarmist,

The U.S. debt was $5,807,463,412,200.06 on January 20, 2001, the day that George the lesser took office. When he left the White House the debt stood at $11,909,829,003,511.70, a 105.08% change under his regime. He added $6,102,365,591,311.64 in new debt, much of it due to his warmongering. I like to think there is a special place in Hell for him because of the damage he did to America.

I thought you might like that hand made head gasket video as I know how you like watching people create things with their hands. Here's another you might enjoy...

It's gasket week here in my world because I can't buy a proper oil pan gasket for the big blue tractor. (The only one available is made by a subsidiary of Fiat. It is over priced and sub-standard.) So, I ordered some gasket material to make one...

PS: That was a lot of work, Adam, making the complicated gasket by hand vs. machine. It was fun to watch though.

I wonder what they actually do realize Alarmist. To me, it sounds like they are overdoing their fear of Trump as based on 4 years of him already for that same reason I discussed in the post "The Overton Briar Patch"

https://www.peakstupidity.com/index.php?post=2445

"The effect of this tactic is to get Conservatives to actually believe "their" high-office holder is working hard, doing the right thing for them. "If they hate him so much, he MUST be doing a great job!" Well, that can be true, but not if that hate is based on exaggeration, lies, or plain insanity.

Take George W. Bush, please! (No joke that time, take him the hell somewhere - I don't want to see his Hispanic sob story paintings.) I really did have high hopes in January of '01. However, it was pretty clear early on that he was another warmonger.*** G.W. Bush did not try one bit to decrease the American Police State, but in fact he used 9/11 to greatly expand it. Medicare D (for Drugs), anyone? That was a big government expansion, at least in the monetary sense. It's too long ago for me to remember a long list of these, and doing so would be depressing to boot. Suffice it to say that George W. Bush was no Conservative. He didn't fight the policies of the ctrl-left. Words were one thing, but from his actions, the ctrl-left should have had absolutely nothing to hate about him.

The ctrl-left sure did act like they hated him though. They do this with all the supposed hard-right-wing politicians:

“Drown me just as deep as you please, Br'er Fox,” said Br'er Rabbit, “but for Lord’s sake, don’t fling me in that briar patch.” American Conservatives get fooled by: "Please, Conservative voters, close the southern border as tight as you please, but for Lord's sake, don't elect the far-right-winger George Bush!""

Although, granted, Trump actually did some work greatly stemming the influx of both legal and illegal immigrants. However, it was all under-the-radar stuff that would be and WAS turned around as soon as Bai Dien got into office.

PS

They clearly didn’t pay attention to Trump’s very ineffective first term. He pretty much gave the left what it wanted without destroying the economy that pays for it all.

Either that, or the left wants the USA ... and perhaps all. of the West ... to be cataclysmicly destroyed.

PS: "It'll be like January 6th times 911!" Wait, did I miss that one? Heh. Do the math, people! That's 1 x 6 x 21 x 2 airplanes.

Every thing they said is something I sure am worried about, from the ctrl-left, that is. Trump is an incapable softie who I sure wish would act a little bit more like, at least Mussolini.

You too, have a good evening, Adam. Thanks for the comments. I still have a few AI images to enjoy.
