A-Woke-end from a dream

  General Stupidity  Political Correctness

This is either the 3rd or 4th Peak Stupidity post written based on a dream of your Peak blogger. I understand that our commenter Dieter Kief out of the birthplace of Sigmund Freud may be curious and helpful, but that's not why I write these. As in the other posts, that I'm dreaming something like this says something about the times.

I was in an engineering or physics lab classroom, not the lab itself, but in the class in which the experiments were being discussed. Here I was, with a big pad of paper and a pencil, trying to get a point across to the teaching assistant or whoever he was. (He seemed to be in charge.) The young people now don't do much with paper and pencil. All data must be entered on some screen somewhere. So this was a bit difficult for him, as I made a table and told him how we should collect data "like this".

The other guys in the room were not getting this at all, so I got a tad frustrated and showed it - not loud or angry, mind you but just a tad vehement, let's call it. That wasn't a problem for the students and this instructor, but for some reason, my getting forceful about my idea was responsible for bringing about 5 HR reps, into the room, and STAT! Speaking of "STAT!", they were all wearing nurse scrubs. So, were they actual HR people? I don't know. Their purpose was to squash any disagreement going on in a classroom. They weren't particularly after me, but just any disagreement going on was verboten.

I told these apparently on short-call classroom "controllers" that "Hey, I was just passing by and came in to help. I don't have to be here."

Then I walked out, and right then I Woke up.

Johnny, what can you make out of this?

PS: Mr. Hail, I'm looking forward to your continuation of that comment. In the meantime:

Yes, I do remember the word "woke" (used in that manner) as something Black! people used on occasion - mostly politically active Black! people.

Who were the people with the "smart money" betting on this term to go away? Do you mean pundits and such?

As for a religion, yes, Wokeness has that quality with the dogma, rites, and so forth. However, the goal of it all is political, as in taking away whatever control that White men have left of things in this country. Perhaps the Middle Ages Catholic Church would be a good analogy, not as far as beliefs, of course, but in terms of a Church with political power - lots of it.

- On punning off of dreams and Wokeness -

Mr. Kief says "being woke is an interesting metaphor."

The word "Woke" began to enter the language only in 2016 and 2017. (Do not believe anyone who dates the word "Woke" any earlier than 2016/17 they are doing that thing Steve Sailer often talks about, "retconning" of the past).

"Getting woke," as you originally would usually hear it, was another stupid import from Black slang, likely originally based on a poor handle on standard grammar (or contempt for standard grammar), but it did not enter mainstream language before 2016.

In this early period, 2016 and 2017, the meaning of "Woke" was also not fixed into what we now call "Wokeness." When the term "woke" was gaining momentum, 2016-2018, one could hear uses referring to any number of things across the spectrum in which someone had broken through to semi-hidden knowledge.

In other words, "getting woke" was like a synonym for "red pill," which also had an extremely successful career as a term in the 2010s.

More importantly, the word "Woke" was always associated that normal-reality is like a bad dream and that you can liberate yourself from the bad-dream through your own efforts. The kernel of religion is embedded within the idea.

Although the smart-money in 2016 and 2017, and even beyond to 2018 and 2019, was that "Woke" was just another trend-word and would soon fade, the smart-money was wrong in this case.

Eventually, "Wokeness" dug in, stabilized its meaning, coalescing around a set of doctrines, loyalties, and attitudes (anti-White-Christian-Male, at core, primarily). That was definitely the case by the time calendar-year 2020 opened, and probably earlier.

Wokeness, as we now understand it, is the apotheosis of a set of (frankly) anti-White social-movements which the U.S./Transatlantic Regime(s) have embraced, to varying degrees, for some time. The Regime now aggressively promotes Wokeness in a way that would shock centrists of the even as recently as the 2000s. There is hard to see any daylight between the Regime, per se, and Wokeness as social-cultural force. See the Biden LGBTQIAX+ Flag given pride-of-place at the White House for the month of June, with the U.S. flag demoted to second-place.

In other words, by the early 2020s, "Wokeness" simply referred to the ruling ideology, and the anti-White 'pogroms' of mid-2020 were muscle-flexing by Wokeness-as-ideology -- many Whites also participated, to be sure, in the anti-White pogroms of mid-2020, but they all did so as expressions of Wokeness, like a religious revival.

There is, therefore, an obvious religious implication with Wokeness, similar to the Christian doctrine of being "born again." But Wokeness probably has more in common with certain Eastern religions that have traditionally tried to do things like declare existence to be a dream.

On religion: See the surreal, almost-unbelievable expressions of overt religious-fervor, by Woke-Whites -- the kneeling, the group-prayer, the nine-minutes of silence for a martyr-to-Wokeness criminal who died of a drug-overdose -- during the large-scale anti-White pogrom(s) of mid-2020.

(to be concluded in a later comment...)

PS: Alarmist, I don't think the college students of today could hold a candle to those of yesteryear, meaning 1980s and '90s to me.

Mr. Hail, I added one sentence to clear this up. To me, it was as if a college classroom got run like a Kindergarten - as soon as there was anything even close to a discussion going on, much less an argument, the whole crew had to be called in. They weren't after me in particular. So, it was to harass everybody. I was not in the class, officially, so I felt relief at just walking out.

That was your quote, Dieter? Interesting.

Being woke is an interesting metaphor. The rest of the dream seems to be rather straightforward - - - you sense that you are not in the red hot center of things anymore, but - - that that doesn't matter much.
Biblical quote in place here: Let the dead (hehe!) bury the dead. - And be rather with those Staying Alive (Bee Gees, hehe!). So - with a fairy tail ending: Something better than death we'll find all the time! - - - Town Musicians of Bremen - Grimm Brothers -

Biottom line: Dreams are the grown up man's fairy tales. (Ok - I said that).

"I walked out, and...I Woke up."

I guess this capitalization is meant to be a pun on Wokeness

but what is the connection? The existence of campus commissars materializing in the dream to harass your dream-self?

PS

When I was in B-School back in the ‘90s, we had one prof, Israeli Orthodox, who gave us a real M-Effer of an exam. I was prepared, so I did OK, but at least half of the class failed. I kind of laughed and thought, “Thems the breaks.”

But to my surprise, and the chagrin of the prof, he was ordered to conduct a re-test with a somewhat watered-down question/problem set. Long before anyone even heard of safe-spaces, that had to be an early sign of what was to come.

Later, when studying law in the UK, I turned in a case that would have received top marks in a US law school, and it was savaged as merely acceptable. Not to worry though, as the UK has also started to dumb down its academic standards.

I would try a Russian uni just to test their standards, but I don’t want to risk being jailed as a spy.
